  1. What bugs me about this acetate is the fact that it's an American one - INBOFM was never released as a 45 in the States, I just think it's weird to find a 'remix' of it on a 7" acetate.
  2. You're right of course. That acetate bugs me though.
  3. My Mum got me this out from our local library when I was in my early teens - can't remember anything about it though but I knew it rang a bell
  4. No it's not sold, I was away all weekend so I'll run it til friday or something - 450 quid at the moment, if thats not topped, it'll take it
  5. I've posted it a couple of times before it became trendy oh and this was a RUSS spin at Wigan - he was the only one to play it and even then it couldn't have been played more than 4 times
  6. That acetate is Mike Bolderson's I think. Remix? As for the question about the sticker - those sample stickers ruin nice issue copies. The Liberty 'demos' I've seen from this period just have handwritten dates on them.
  7. Yeah and me!
  8. I missed all this debate as I've been away for 5 days but having now read it all, I think James has been pretty polite to be honest, he hasn't been particularly rude to anyone who doesn't like it, don't know what people are moaning about. When you're really 100% for something it's hard not to fight fire with fire. I listened to both sides, they were okay, I thought they'd sound pretty good played out. I've forgotten how they went now though.
  9. It is who's you think it is Michael. And by the way, I haven't heard from you since just before 9/11 so I'm glad to know you are ok!!!
  10. Well said Phil. I stopped going to Wigan in the latter years but have heard enough tapes to know what the playlists were like and apart from the appalling modern stuff, the 60's newies were as good as any from any other period of the scene, especially RS circa 79-81...no sign of a Dana Valery or Helen Shapiro anywhere, no dubious UK B sides, just quality Northern which was continued at Stafford after Wigan closed.
  11. I remember listening to the Levine one and they'd got the date wrong...
  12. £209 more expensive than the one I currently have for sale
  13. Reduced JJ Barnes to 125 if anyone wants it... now sold
  14. Sorry...better late than never! I'm selling this for someone else by the way. Wait til you hear the middle bit!
  15. I see what they mean about London leading the way in fashion sense
  16. Klicky Robinson - When I wanna see you / You're hurting the one who loves you - Mode 506 Visual Graded - Mint minus Play Graded - EX Written by J.Broussard / S.August Pub by Edom-Upmost Arranged by D.C.Wardell Matrix 133-2668 Deadwax stamped 133-2668 355 -L- One of only a handful (if that) to have turned up in 20 years and imposable to find. Tim Brown was quoted (by the seller at the time of buying this 45) as saying he hasn't seen one for more than 10 years. Current big play for New York collector/DJ's Micheal Robinson and Matt "Mr Fine Wine", this copy is undoubtedly the best condition of the lot as they seem to have all been through the wars. It's not perfect as the vinyl has some imperfections (fortunately on the deep soul flipside) and one small "pop" on the play side. (it looks like something was in the vinyl when it was pressed). It has a small amount of hiss in the first 5 seconds, which is soon replaced by the thumping bass-line - but now I'm getting picky. The track was compiled a few years ago on a CD collection of Louisiana producer DC Wardells work, but the 45 never shows up. It has fantastic gloss both sides, and it was bought as a Mint minus, but to be conservative it should be graded as EX. The flipside label has some "peeling ink" - scan to follow, but it seems all the known copy's have this fault. This is just waiting for the right DJ in the UK to pick up on it and give it the plays it deserves. Offers over £400 (sound sample when I get back from walking the dog)
  17. Give us another couple of examples of minor key tunes if you can...because I prefer the Darrow Fletcher to the three mentioned before it so I might understand soon!
  18. No you may as well be writing in Chinese to be honest. One would have to know what flats, sharps, majors and minors, key signatures and other such things are. If you've never studied music...no chance
  19. Chris Cerf reserved, ben E King LP sold, cheers
  20. Oh God I really, really wish I understood all this, the explanation above is fabulous but unless you can hear it I don't think you can get it. Well I can't anyway.
  21. Sod the price guide, that says 500! It also says 250 for the JJ Barnes I am selling for 150. So basically....I don't use it.
  22. Well I've only had this one twice Steve, had four or five of the 2 shields design. By the way I just had a phone call to say this should have been 450 not 475!
  23. YVONNE BAKER - YOU DIDN'T SAY A WORD / TO PROVE MY LOVE IS TRUE - PARKWAY P 140. THIS IS THE MUCH TOUGHER EAST COAST DESIGN AND IS IN ABSOLUTELY STUNNING MINT CONDITION - WELL I'VE PLAYED IT, SO LET'S SAY MINT MINUS. FRANKFORD/WAYNE STAMPED OF COURSE. £450 01902 893569 PETE.SMITH@FREEUK.COM
