  1. He said they were good in the context of the play, not better than the originals...
  2. Remember that guy who wanted to write $400 on the customs declaration on that Stemmons Express I won? There's a thread about it on here somewhere. The self righteous brothers of soul source came down on his side and said it's my own fault for bidding. I say what f*cking difference does it make to him if he writes, $4, $40 or $400. Anyway it ended in mutual negative feedback for both parties.
  3. I've got it on Sevens as well.
  4. I've got a black issue but wouldn't really know what to ask for it! Only used to be cheap on US, probably not now
  5. Thats what I was thinking - if it's been booted on Cuppy it's been within the last 2 years and only recently gone on sale
  6. Yeah tis now, or best offer, was going to offer him some of my tea as I had no dosh
  7. See how good I am to you lot? Just gone on, and under £200 https://cgi.ebay.com/RARE-45-RPM-JIMMY-MCFA...1QQcmdZViewItem
  8. I think I'd want 500 quid for this Margaret Mandolph of mine. It really is hard to find, this came off ebay 3 years back. In the early days of Ebay I picked one up for about 60 dollars...those days are long gone. I've got a near mint UK Soul City copy of Shirley Lawson, I stuck £125 on one last year but that was EX-. Not sure what to ask for this one.
  9. £50 - £60
  10. Didn't know there was a demo! Only ever seen black issues and white bootlegs. I've got a black issue.
  11. No UK release but that is unbelievable! Looks great too.
  12. The review in the evening news says the music is great but the re-written play not so great!
  13. Well done Miss Simsy!!! 3 easy facts... reggae music was originally called ska bob marleys birthday is a national holiday in Jamaica other Caribbean music includes mento, calypso and merengue
  14. I don't like any of them. But the Millie record is really interesting. The backing track came out on red and white Island as "Never Again" by Jackie & Millie, though it doesn't feature either and should have been credited to The Sound System. This one here came out on UK Brit, one of only about 4 releases, I think this would have been great if it had a decent singer performing it as the backing is superb. That voice could smash mirrors though.
  15. The Take Me In Your Arms And Love Me 73 issue came in a run of reissues of classic hits. All of the others are as common as anything - my guess is that this didn't get distributed properly for one reason or another. I remember in the early 90's Mick Smith asking me if I'd got this, which I had, on a green and white demo, and he offered me something like £20 for it without me knowing it had been 'discovered' and was already 75 quid. He's good to me like that Mick is.
  16. Ben Brown is a great version, I actually prefer that one, not for the vocals which are obviously way inferior but I really like the arrangement. I think I was the first person ever to discover/review this record, way back in Beatin Rhythm issue 1...
  17. It's not your fault Gene, this part of the site is for discussing records and this was an interesting one to discuss, a very interesting one. I sympathise with the buyer, but also the seller in a strange way, I know what it's like to sell a very expensive record for next to nothing then someone else comes along and offers loads more than what I just sold it for - in fact it happend on here last week, that Clicky whatsit 45 I was selling, I took an offer then immediately got offered £200 on top of that - by two separate people - despite me announcing that it was sold. I'd already agreed a sale so it went for the original price to the original buyer - however, if it had been MY record and not someone else's - and my financial situation was as bad as it usually is - then who knows, I might have had to say look, I can't turn down this extra £200 quid I've just been offered. I've also been usurped on records I'd been promised, by some very well known names. It just gets written in the black book and I don't deal with them again. At the end of the day, money talks.
  18. Yes thats real, it wasn't pressed as an issue, only a demo
  19. Hallucinating mate

  21. I remember getting a record, opening the package and leaving it on the coffee table. My daughter who was then maybe 1 year old picked it up and ran around with it in her mouth. I wish I'd got it now, it has a perfect set of her teeth prints on it.
  22. Don't think it was booted Grant
  23. It's still rubbish, ringpiece or no ringpiece
  24. I was there, first time it was played and probably every time after that, for 4 months anyway, I understood it, but I understood it was rubbish
  25. Which, without having even know about this, is exactly what I said - Kev Roberts, using Pye studios.
