  1. It's a great credit to yourself that you priced the Lee Fields at it's market value rather than it's inflated auction price, just shows that not everyone is money motivated.
  2. Van Dykes, Bobby Sheen sold, thanks.
  3. some nice stuff on ebay - individual items at the bottom of the page, all with soundclips https://search.ebay.co.uk/_W0QQsassZmayfair...1QQfsooZ1QQrdZ0
  4. deleted
  5. People say Wigan never played the new releases but the audio evidence says that's not correct...I know I've got tapes with Jodi Mathis, I'm Shaft, Disco Connection etc
  6. No but seriously - it does get my back up a bit because it's being told I must like something or I can't like soul music. I do detest modern soul but it's easy to avoid hearing it. To the chap who said 30 year old records aren't modern soul, yes they are, it's a LABEL/DESCRIPTION for the style of music, not the age of the record. And also to reiterate, I love those early to mid 70's dancers like East Coast Connection, Norma Jenkins, Life, Gentlemen & Their Lady, Marvin Holmes, The Nights, Skullsnaps etc etc, love 'em. Just hate plinky plonky syndrum disco shite
  7. Trying to wind you up Sean
  8. 60's newies - always been behind 60's newies, always!
  9. You're being silly now. Nobody forced me to like 60's northern soul. You'd have to torture me to enjoy modern soul though.
  10. And drive an equal amount of people off the scene. And it's not openmindedness, it's selfishness, it's forcing their own agenda on people who don't want to know about it. Either listen to our music or go somewhere else.
  11. That's a very sweeping generalisation that includes 95% of everyone into "Northern Soul" - most of us got into it because it was that particular 60's soul sound and it's still the minority who want to veer away from that. So you can appreciate all kinds of soul music - well bully for you, you're obviously a higher evolved species than the beer towel brigade.
  12. Sadly I have to sell my Creative Vison M. This is the 60g model and is still retailing at around £160+ (over £200 in many stores). This is in lovely condition and is preloaded with - I don't know exactly how many - but thousands of tracks from my collection including the entire Kent label cd output, all of the Bob Dylan Theme Time Radio Hour series (40 episodes), my entire reggae/ska collection and so on - but not only that, it has my collection of youtube download video clips, not only soul artists but the rarest punk, beat, psych clips, many of which have now been removed from youtube. I think it even has the entire Quadrophenia movie and a couple of episodes of Thunderbirds on there as well and of course it's only around half full. It also has an FM radio. It comes with it's original box with software and manual etc. £120 including registered post if anyone's interested. cheers pete https://www.amazon.co.uk/Creative-Zen-Visio...988&sr=8-11
  13. Thye majority of your option 2 records all had a 4/4 beat which made them easily accepted as 'northern soul', that's where the difference is

  20. In that case maybe I'll join the Jazz Mag Police
  21. Steve, you are spot on, it only started to be called modern when the mecca went disco and other venues adopted sounds that were also disco - the records you mention above were all just 'northern soul' records to myself and my friends, it was only a couple of years later when the sound really changed that they started to become 'modern soul' and even then I think we still referred to it as 'disco' until the very late 70's.
  22. If I was a Jazz Policeman I'd arrest all their records and f*cking burn them.
  23. HJ 7581 is definitely Black & George - Candy Lady. The Jamaican matrix of Richard Ace - Hang Em High is HJ 7584. They came out back to back as Trojan 654.
