  1. I used to get those done in the States by "The Audio Lathe", they were fantastic quality...this was in the pre carvers days. What was on the other side Nidge?
  2. As the above clip proves - there's no need for alternative versions, the original is brilliant
  3. Think someone did a greenie in it and told me to f&ck off back to the Midlands...
  4. This sort of thing doesn't bother me in the slightest, in fact I've bought things a few times, especially when I lived in Hastings, there were very few soulies so I often used to wear an N.Soul t shirt and people would stop and talk now and again. I also used a Wigan Casino mug as a begging bowl on occasions.
  5. I don't know what 'soul cred' means so you'll have to excuse me
  6. I don't think that's true Tim, I'm constantly having to bite my tongue and edit posts immediately because I don't think I can say what I really want to say, it must be the same for everyone
  7. That record must be cursed then - I had a Joanne Courcey and arranged to sell it to Max, so I said I'd drive over with it. To be safe, I thought I won't just put it on the seat beside me, I'll put it in mailer, so I put it in the mailer with two bits of card, pushed it down into the mailer and put my thumb straight through it, putting a 2" crack in it...
  8. Can you back that up with some facts?
  9. I don't remember coming on here and being disrespectful to long standing members of the forum who I had never met before. It takes time to integrate and know who you can take the piss out of and spar with and who you can't.
  10. Absoloutely brilliant record, could never understand why it was only ever a tenner - maybe it was their biggest seller (apart from I Do)
  11. Wouldn't have thought The Impressions was worth anything - it was a medium hit
  12. It's weird with the northern scene - in the old days, by the time we were 18, we were considered as 'old hands" at it!
  13. The problem is that when you join a forum like this, it's good manners to watch and learn and absorb what goes on here, not jump in feet first and act like you own the place, I had to edit one of Beeks posts in the reggae section because he wasn't following forum guidelines as to where to post tracks, and he more or less told me to f*ck off so if he can't show any respect for long-standing members of the forum, many of whom indeed have forgotten more than he'll ever know, then he'll have problems. "I'm here - deal with it" - yes that really endears you to people.
  14. Have to agree with you - up until about 5 years ago I was selling that yellow one with bubbly label for a fiver - I bought one out of a shop in Stoke for a fiver a couple of years back, in the pressings section. But I watched them selling time after time, I've seen them for up to £100 and if there were only 500 copies to start, 250 of those will already be out of the equasion so you've only got 250 left - therefore, it's now a rare record!
  15. Now this is the sort of 70's track I like...very happy memories of this...Whitchurch all dayer springs to mind
  16. You get a circular cutting compass mate, really hard to find (well they were when I got this) it's like a compass but instead of a pencil tip it has a razor sharp blade.
  17. An Airtown test pressing? Not off me. I did have a proper acetate of the Vondells with an Airtown label and I might have sold him that but not a carvers with a label stuck on as far as I know. And yeah, it would have been for profit, so what?
  18. I personally aren't trying to pass anything off as anything, these are mine, I play them at home
  19. Up yer arse. I got £850 for my Ralph Graham, he didn't get a penny of it. Makes no difference if I cut one for myself.
  20. Pete S

    Strike

I was getting confused with Elkie Brooks - He's gotta love me!.
  21. I don't care what label it's on, it could be on bloody Disco Demand as long as it played the track I wanted to hear, I'm not kidding myself about anything - labels mean nothing to me, and I've had more originals through my hands than a lot of people have had hot dinners so I do know what they look like...
  22. That's rubbish and they ought to have a word with you about those comments - the sound quality is usually better than the source and they are cut extremely loud - I've never had one that sounded worse than the source, which is usually a cd.
  23. That copy of mine no longer jumps and both sides are EX or better now...so it's just gone up to 75 quid if anyone wants it
  24. Well you pleases yoursleves...I can't afford the originals so I make them myself, they look pretty good and you can touch them, feel them, look at them, play them...you can play a cd but it's not like having a record. Anyway, I did have 3 out of the 4 below as originals at one time...
  25. Absolutely...
