OK well put it this way - if St Ives had it, Wigan would have eventually got it, however long it took - and I went every week in 1978 until september and to the best of my knowledge it was never played, I first heard it played by Sam at the lafayette in wolverhampton after march 79...
-
lamb hot pot - it was sh*t
-
Absolutely no way was it played in 77...I'd bet my tea on it
-
No the Gene Woodberry version didn't appear til 77, not unless Sam was playing it way before Richard, and I did hear Sam now and again at places like Newcastle Tiffs and I never heard him play it. Richard played it covered up as William Lucas.

I thought it was from the 70's so well done to them for creating an authentic 70's sound, but what I mean is that that type of 70's, 80's whatever sound is exactly what I hate, as opposed to many of the other 70's records which I love (The Nights, Norma Jenkins and so on). Different type of beat I suppose. n.b. a lot of reggae goes way way over my head too, I cannot understand how anyone white British people can relate to roots reggae at all -
Those do sound a lot like Shrine recordings don't they. And very much like The Epsilons. Superb, both of them.
-
I've actually got the first ever spin of Bernie Williams on tape, Richard plays it and predicts it'll go massive, I think it's early 75 but it didn't take off massively til 76 - as far as I can remember

Actually it'd be interesting to see a list of stuff found in London that made it's way up North, Mick is always telling me that he discovered more or less every record played at the Torch! -
I hate Bolton and especially it's sh*t football team

He means when you listen to a track thats been posted up, it automatically lists itself next to your name on the left hand side as "last track played". -
Do you mind, I'm eating my breakfast

I think if you hear a really good recording of it you might change your mind, Love Will Find A Way side anyway - Popcorn Wylie production, bound to be Motown musicians moonlighting, what more could anyone ask? It's not the greatest record ever but it's certainly good enough to have gained plays at any time. In my opinion. -
Now fully updated, many thanks to those who've bought today
