  1. OK well put it this way - if St Ives had it, Wigan would have eventually got it, however long it took - and I went every week in 1978 until september and to the best of my knowledge it was never played, I first heard it played by Sam at the lafayette in wolverhampton after march 79...
  2. lamb hot pot - it was sh*t
  3. Absolutely no way was it played in 77...I'd bet my tea on it
  4. No the Gene Woodberry version didn't appear til 77, not unless Sam was playing it way before Richard, and I did hear Sam now and again at places like Newcastle Tiffs and I never heard him play it. Richard played it covered up as William Lucas.
  5. I thought it was from the 70's so well done to them for creating an authentic 70's sound, but what I mean is that that type of 70's, 80's whatever sound is exactly what I hate, as opposed to many of the other 70's records which I love (The Nights, Norma Jenkins and so on). Different type of beat I suppose. n.b. a lot of reggae goes way way over my head too, I cannot understand how anyone white British people can relate to roots reggae at all
  6. Those do sound a lot like Shrine recordings don't they. And very much like The Epsilons. Superb, both of them.
  7. I've actually got the first ever spin of Bernie Williams on tape, Richard plays it and predicts it'll go massive, I think it's early 75 but it didn't take off massively til 76 - as far as I can remember
  8. Best what, supply of ashtray material?
  9. You're right Russ, Delites first play was in early 79

I think it's a blue eyed soul effort from either Texas or New Orleans and the group is supposedly the same ones who did "Soul Sound" but this doesn't appear in any price guide or any website by the looks of it, so maybe a new discovery. It's a very uptempo blue eyed stomper and it can be heard here /Mike-An...ase-t78599.html THE LEWIS SISTERS - YOU NEED ME - VIP VG++ 20 THE MYSTIC MOODS - ASTRAL TRIP - WARNER BROS DEMO EX 40 TOMMY WILLIAMS - MUST BE LOVE - SUE VG+ 30 JEAN WELLS - KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT - VOLARE EX 15 THE CONTINENTAL FOUR - THE LOVE YOU GAVE TO ME - JAY WALKING DJ M- 10 LEE CHARLES - I NEVER WANT TO LOSE MY SWEET THING - BAMBOO EX- 15 ONESY MACK - I'LL NEVER GO AWAY - GODA EX 40 FAYE CAROL - LIVES - HIT EX 50 JOE TAYLOR - YOU DON'T LOVE ME - HMF EX 20 JUDY CLAY - LET IT BE ME - LAVETTE VG 15 Scruffy old copy plays fine - great record too KELL OSBORNE - SOMETHIN' FOR THE BOOKS - REVIS EX 25 PEARL WOODS - SIPPIN' SORROW - DAWN M- 25 OWEN GRAY - INCENSE - UK ISLAND VG+ 15 Great version using the original backing track CHRIS FARLOWE - DON'T JUST LOOK AT ME - UK IMMEDIATE EX 20 Great UK stomper, really nice copy too SAM & DAVE - YOU AIN'T NO BIG THING BABY - UK KING M 30 Current spin DONNIE ELBERT - ALONG CAME PRIDE / GET READY- UK CBS VG 20 reserved? 11. That didn't stop some of the people who say they were there
  12. Chill out, listen to this, great memories - even if you were never there! https://www.soul-source.co.uk/rare-northern...no-74-live-tape
  13. To be fair I did say I didn't know them, I can't give an opinion on something I haven't heard (unless it's modern ) p.s. it's Smiffy
  14. Do you mind, I wear Bringle Dyamond now that everyone else wears Stone Island
  15. I thought you supported Man City?
  16. Actually it'd be interesting to see a list of stuff found in London that made it's way up North, Mick is always telling me that he discovered more or less every record played at the Torch!
  17. I hate Bolton and especially it's sh*t football team
  18. He means when you listen to a track thats been posted up, it automatically lists itself next to your name on the left hand side as "last track played".
  19. Do you mind, I'm eating my breakfast
  20. It's from 1975
  21. Are you sure you've actually heard this record Chris, it's a belter
  22. I think if you hear a really good recording of it you might change your mind, Love Will Find A Way side anyway - Popcorn Wylie production, bound to be Motown musicians moonlighting, what more could anyone ask? It's not the greatest record ever but it's certainly good enough to have gained plays at any time. In my opinion.
  23. Now fully updated, many thanks to those who've bought today
