  1. Sorry, the record is actually called Lonely Without You but the labels are on the wrong sides!
  2. Yeah I'll post it up in a minute. Think it's a bit slow, can't remember!
  3. Typical early 60's Brill Building type of pop tune - not great
  4. People want different things from soul do's. The last time I went to Goodyears, I was there for 3 hours, I could not tell you what a single record played was, cos I didn't go to hear the music, I went to see mates and have a drink. Yes, other people go to dance or listen to the music, but some don't. And some don't care what format is used. And I'm saying once again, I have about 6 carvers left, if you can tell the difference between those and an original then you have some kind of super hearing powers that I don't posess.
  5. UPDATED AND SOME REDUCED
  6. Yeah I agree with that.
  7. I didn't say it was an original, I said it was a RECORD.
  8. A carver is still a 7" record which be held and looked at and loved. A cd is a bit of silver cack.
  9. Cheap as well...get in there
  10. as usual, no mention in any price guide, nothing to base a price on!
  11. No producer or arranger mentioned Tone but she is backed by Richard Barretts Orchestra. Composers Barrett-Clowney. Who's Clowney, heard that name before.
  12. This is an answer record to The Miracles - Shop Around, the only one I;d heard before was debbie Dean's "Don't let him shop around", this one is called Doncha Shop Around and it has an absolutely brilliant sax break in the middle, though I would have thought Motown would have sued them for copyright. Anyway, usual question - anyone know this?
  13. Just telling you what I hear Sebastian. I have no complaints with carvers. When you play to 30 people in a working mens club you aren't that bothered about the ins and outs of the sound quality, you're more worried as to whether you've got a stylus!
  14. I asked John about it and he said he auctioned one for £500 a few weeks back. My mate wanted £400 for his. I'll find out what colour label it is. Ta for the info. Chap selling the World Quake Band for 250 in VG on here though.
  15. Not to me it isn't, I don't even know what you're talking about..frequency range?
  16. If you're talking about upfront venues, then yes, originals only. Local soul night in a village hall, who gives a toss, you're probably only going for a drink and a good time.
  17. Honestly, I've never had one thats worse than the original, in many cases they are better, especially when you get a stereo recording put into mono.
  18. 250 euros in VG, that makes 400 in mint - I was told 50 quid elsewhere!
  19. That is more or less word for word what I said when I replied to his email. Anyway I'm staying out of it.
  20. Well put it like this: if I get anything done for myself, they are taken from a cd copy, which usually comes off a master tape. How is that going to be worse copy than a 40 year old second hand record?
  21. I've had at least 40 carvers done for me and for others and I've never heard a bad one - well not one that was worse than the original source. Also see Yum Yums topic - I put up a photo of the original then admitted I'd never taken it out of the house and always play the pressing. I'm not having some scrote nick my records.
  22. see later comment!
  23. Well said Di. I'd still like to know how anyone on a dance floor can tell the differnce between a pressing and an original - and do they give a toss anyway? No, they're dancing.
