  1. Yeah but Chalky, this is what I'm trying to say, people don't want to hear them - if they did, you'd get more than 10 or 20 people turn up. There just aren't enough people to go round and at least 75% of those people who go out on a friday or saturday night will want to hear records that they know. sorry I need to add a p.s. to this we all have good records that are underplayed and that we'd like other like-minded people to hear; however, the point I'm trying to make is, while some of us like this sort of event, the majority just aren't interested in opening their ears to anything that they don't already know, which is why (Bill) I was being so pessimistic because it has been that way for 20 years.
  2. BJD is a very early bootleg label
  3. That would have made sense had Jackie Opel been Jamaican...
  4. It is reasonable compared to some but in the last 2/3 years it got incredibly overpriced. I sell a demo at 150 but I think 175 was fair for an issue.
  5. Willie (vocals)
  6. It's still unclear as to whether he is actually dead yet - his daughter says he's not.
  7. I agree with you there and something may be happening along those lines allegedly.
  8. The greatest Jamaican vocalist ever, what a loss.
  9. Phil you are well out of order, when you and the rest of them had left the scene and were doing the family stuff Tim never stopped going to events and nighters, whether round here or country wide and despite what tyou might think he does know about the Lea Manor because it ran for ages before all the returnees came back. And he's right when he says the Wolvo/West Midlands is one big clique. Same dj's, same promoters for every event. Thats not an insult, it's a fact.
  10. Yep, what Sean says. They had no Mowest labels for the final reissue/press so they used Tamla Motown labels with the Mowest number.
  11. It's not hard to find or expensive - but I agree with all of you, it's a great version
  12. Red and white Islands are beautiful, what you on about!
  13. But those on Popsike are auction prices and are therefore not accurate if two people are bidding for the same record. And of course it only gives you about 50% of the records sold.
  14. Marcus could you definie your grades of VG+ and VG++, i.e. what do you get for VG++, reason being I fancy half of these but if VG+ means 'well used' then I dunno...
  15. Last bump - free post over £20 or 10% off, whatever you prefer
  16. Deadly serious, do you want me to make you a list of all my Jamaican 45's, no use to me...
  17. I'd give you 3 Matadors for one Doctor Bird actually got outbid on a UK one recently and I went over £100
  18. Yeah it was called Blue Soul Roger...think it was after Palos, bought it about 5 years ago off Ebay, never seen one since
  19. Just to add to the confusion, I've also had this on another label, not Palos, might have had the word Blue in the title!

  21. Definitely booted on a poor sound quality orange label Palos
  22. I don't remember giving Ian Levine a lecture on why his records don't sell any copies
  23. Hey everybody, look at me! I've been in the music biz for 30 years! I have my own record label! I've been in 20 tv programs and 20 actual films! I know everything about everything and the rest of you know f*ck all!
  24. The costume guy says it's a faithful reproduction of NS 1975 style, don't you believe him despite his very detailed description?
