So I'll undercut both of 'em. LINDA ELLIOT - FELL IN LOVE WITH YOU BABY - JOSIE DEMO EX 50 Truly brilliant oldie DEE EDWARDS - ALL THE WAY HOME - D TOWN ISSUE EX 75 SOLD Lovely yellow stock copy, in my experience these are harder than the white demos INEZ & CHARLIE FOXX - NO STRANGER TO LOVE - DYNAMO EX 15 SOLD Just as good if not better than Tightrope HOWARD GUYTON - I WATCHED YOU SLOWLY SLIP AWAY - VERVE ISSUE VG++ 125 One or two marks but plays great, the much rarer stock copy ART GENTRY - MERRY GO ROUND - ONYX EX 30 Cracking oldie REGGIE GARNER - HALF A CUP / SAME - ABC DJ M- 25 Good 70's dancer THE HYTONES - GOOD NEWS / GEORGE JACKSON - ALL IN MY MIND - KENT 6T'S 29TH ANNIVERSARY SINGLE UNP 50 SOLD Here's your chance to get an unplayed copy of this years anniversary 45 before it disappears FRANK HOWARD - JUDY - EXCELLO EX 75 SOLD Best on the label for me, brilliant SCREAMIN JAY HAWKINS - I PUT A SPELL ON YOU - DECCA EX 70 The most demented record ever played on the scene by a mile - this is the really uptempo version - and it's on the rare issue copy, not the usual pink demo DEENA JOHNSON - THE BREAKING POINT - WILD DEUCE DEMO EX- 70 This is one of my all time favourite records, I can't chose between the male vocal or the female one, and by some strange coincidence I've got both of them on this weeks list! RUBY JOHNSON - WEAK SPOT - VOLT EX 30 SOLD How underrated is this, to be honest I'd never played it but WOW it's absolutely FANTASTIC, really soulful gritty dancer DELILAH KENNEBRUEW - BRIGHT LIGHTS - LOMA DEMO EX+ 100 Great oldie, never really went massive and has stayed very elusive - one of the best Northern dancers on the label PAT LUNDY - (I'M AT) THE BREAKING POINT - JULMAR M 40 Although these Julmar copies are mint, they always sound like they've been dubbed from another record and are a bit quiet - awesome all the same though PHIL LOWMAN - ROCK ME TIL I WANT NO MORE - PALOS VG+ 40 This is the yellow Palos label and according to the books, it's a 100 quid original. Label is a bit stained. PATTY LIVINGSTON - I'VE GOT MY BABY - DIMENSION DEMO EX- 30 If you love girl group dancers then you'll adore this THE LOLLIPOPS - LOVING GOOD FEELING - IMPACT VG+ 100 Issue copy, has a few surface marks but plays beautifully with maybe two tiny clicks barelu audible. Minor marks not affecting play. Tough record to find. THE SAPPHIRES - EVIL ONE - ABC EX 50 Classic oldie - nice issue NINA SIMONE - BREAK DOWN AND LET IT ALL OUT - PHILIPS M 25 How brilliant is this? JOHN & THE WONDERETTES - MEND MY BROKEN HEART / AND IF I HAD MY WAY - UNITED ARTISTS DEMO EX 150 SOLD Two brilliant Detroit sides IKE & TINA TURNER - DUST MY BROOM - TANGERINE DEMO EX 50 One of the hardest to find variations of this record - a West Coast styrene white demo The next lot are a mixture of total unknowns, semi knows, R&B, crossover and modern and I've put sound samples of all of them up on Soul Source, some are set sale and some are open to offers, the link is /Potenti...ies-t83926.html and the records are as follows ALMETA LATIMER - TOBACCO ROAD - DE VEL EX 50 THE JAEDES - UH UH WHAT DID I DO - ATHENA M 75 DON GLEICHER - ALL OF MY LIFE - TARHEEL M OFFS? 4. OK thats the lot, anyone interested in anything let me know, or you are welcome to give any opinions or identify the tracks, just a bit of fun for a monday morning...
  5. A friend of mine sent me this package of records and I said I'd see what I could do, they range from brilliant to, erm, average let's say but there's a couple of crackers in here and maybe some potential biggies. There are also some sweet soul/deep soul type things. Anyway have a listen, you might like something, there's about 12 altogether so watch this space. Also, I wasn't sure whether he wanted me to reveal the artists or not so I'll just use the initials but some will already be known anyway. p.s. decided to put some names on p.p.s. sorry about the start of the Juicy Roy record, there was a bit of crap stuck in the grooves and I removed it but forgot to edit the sound sample
  6. Nor me - can't stand it - means absolutely nothing to me and it all sounds the same
  7. This is Mick Smith's copy Tony
  8. By strange coincidence - I actually posted up the Tony Scott track on wednesday!
  9. You might be surprised how easy it is to find a lot of the records still - not locally I mean, but on Ebay. Obviously many are now very rare but a lot of the big records from back then can still be bought for a fiver or a tenner. The catalogue sounds most intriguing, I bet they've listed The Volumes - I just can't help myself in there!
  10. I love the Carpenters!
  11. MESSAGE TO EVERYONE WHO EXPRESSED AN INTEREST IN THE ACETATES: THIS IS HOW THINGS ARE LOOKING AT THE MOMENT...TIME 7.20PM SUNDAY 12/10/08 WAIT TILL I GET YOU IN MY ARMS - APRIL MUSIC ACETATE TOP BID IS NOW 500 NEVER EVER LEAVE ME - SHELDON ACETATE TOP BID IS NOW 450 DOWNPOUR OF TEARS - STUDIO 76 ACETATE TOP BID IS NOW 350 IF YOU CAN'T BE TRUE - VIRTUE ACETATE TOP BID IS NOW 100 MANY THANKS PETE
  12. Yep two people have now told me this, strange it saying Bobby Bland though.
  13. I can keep it open for say 7 days?
  14. Yeah it does. People have made some offers now. I'll get back to everyone soon as I can, cheers.
  15. SCREAMIN' JAY HAWKINS - I PUT A SPELL ON YOU - DECCA VERSION
  16. Could everyone please stop asking me how much I want for them the idea is you make me an offer and I say no
  17. Interesting you mention Ortheia Barnes Malc, because this acetate has Mickays typed on the label. Is it the exact same cut?
  18. How in the name of all that is holy, can a copy of Scotts On Swingers be worth £350? I'd say that was £200 overpriced!
  19. Powerful version though Tone, what do you think...I actually thought the vocalist maybe white!
  20. Here's a nice selection of what are as far as I know, unreleased tracks on original acetates. If any did get a release, then I'm sure someone on here will know. I'll post them up one at a time all under this post.I would be looking for offers for these.
  21. Horace Faith - Black Pearl?
  22. Del, you buy or look through an old reggae collection and you will always find a Jim Reeves record - honestly!
  23. I've never understood why all of the promoters - let's just say there are 5 of them - don't get together and put on a really good do in a really good venue and make it a monthly packer like Goodyears and not be afraid to not book the same dj's as always.
  24. So should we ask ourselves - if he taken on the same room but played, I dunno, hip hop, or whatever is the most popular music of the day, would it have been packed? Probably yes. Northern Soul is enjoyed by a minority of people, but the majority of those are middle aged and just don't have the time, money or inclination any more.
