  1. That would have been a chap called John Anderson. When he said it went to number 1 in England, he would have meant number 1 on the soul scene, not the pop charts, unfortunately. He did license Lesters record though and released it on the Grapevine label in 1980
  2. Could anyone who asked if items were available please confirm that you want them if you haven't already, thanks.
  3. The only problem with the Trojan 7" is that it cuts off about 15 seconds before the end, that doesn't sound like much but Slim does some great soul wailing on the fade out, I'll see if I've still got the longer version. Also, on some copies, the talking intro at the start is way clearer than on others. I have this on a Jamaican label, Tramp, full issue, but poor condition so I won't use that.
  4. Of course, it is Brad Lundy. It certainly came out on 2 labels in the USA but I've not seena Jamaican one. I forgot to grade and price the Soulmates because it needed a mega clean, which I still haven't done, but it's not going to come up any better than G++ by the looks of it
  5. I'd say he's using someone elses scan, he has no feedback...

  11. Much as I love ska & rocksteady - there's no place for it at a Northern do. As a second room, for definite, but not to mix in with Northern
  12. Thanks Paul. Couldn't resist buying that repro on ebay.
  13. I remember one of the fanzines reporting this at the time - was early 80's - and I think they reprinted the Detroit news article. Lester was murdered by an intruder at his home if I remember correctly.
  14. Ahem. I agree with every single word Paul says.
  15. I've made a living from selling records on the internet for over 10 years now, I was the first one to stop doing paper lists and go email only, and was told I must be mad. How many records have I sold since then - thousands. How many events have I been to with a box of sales? Maybe 3?
  16. The reissue also has the Warner logo at the bottom of the label, it's unmissable
  17. Just for their own amusement by the looks of it!
  18. Don't know the Jimmy Bailey but the Jackie Edwards is a straight pop record, composed by him, I've got it but it's not very good, the beat ballad on the other side is quite nice though
  19. Thanks Matt. I've actually got an issue and a demo here at the moment, not had that happen before
  20. I can't chose between the two Barry - both outstanding...
  21. OK £185 for the Metros then
  22. See if you can find a link to the moderator and email him, sounds like a snag to me, they'd usually get right back to you..
