  1. I've got this record, Man Of Stone, and I have to say I think it's utter rubbish. It's an early 60's Gene McDaniels "Tower of strength" type thing which is ok but ruined by dreadful female backing singers. The reason I mention this is because I was just browsing through the new price guide and it's in there for 200 quid! I've got a copy which looks dead rough but plays fine - an offers? Starting at £20?
  2. From Mick Casey.. Hi Pete I have had a word word Steve White from Radio Sheffield. He does a regular Wednesday night soul show. You can listen on the night live or on the "listen again" link after the show has finished for a full week. https://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/aod/mainframe.s...sheffield.shtml A-Z of All Shows. Northern Soul and Motown Can you please pass the word around on your mailing list. Cheers Mick casey. PS. I will put a blog on Soulsource. 3. Probably legit mate - test pressings were made of every record so no reason why these shouldn't be real.
  4. Really interesting post that Byrney. Did you all wear Trim Trabs to enable you to run away faster?
  5. Heaven must have sent you Liquidator Stoned Love Backfield in motion Israelites Jimmy Mack and revive oldies like Loco-Motion then in 1974 we started to hear things like Tainted love The snake They're talking about me Wombat - gettin on life Skiing in the snow
  6. I'd suggest contacting the local evening newspaper about the story and asking them to put an appeal out saying you're offering a reward - if it is some druggy who's nicked them, he'd much sooner have the cash than the records, although it sounds to me like a planned robbery
  7. That was my first thought. Maybe his Mummy made him dress as a little girl.
  8. Nick you've overgraded all of these records, the ParaMonts is less than Good let alone VG+!
  9. Brilliant program I thought. Wasn't it great when everyone dressed smartly.
  10. Red and white Island Doctor Bird I once got up to around 250 Islands and 125 Doctor Birds

  16. Sue it's already up in refosoul. Also I posted up the alternative version that Richard Searling used to play. Never released as a 45 which is why it isn't in the price guides.
  17. I was thinking about that too. When Northern arrived at our youth club in mid 74 courtesy of some 'big lads', some of us were into it like a shot and I'd attended my first nighter in 1975 - but what I remember most is that our disco, which was in a fair sized hall, would be rammed, and even the 'nerds' would be dancing to things like Get Out, I think it gave a lot of people confidence that they normally wouldn't have had, they'd just be sitting around the sides watching everyone else dance, but now they were all joining in. Most didn't stay with it, some did though, and we even had two succesful nighters at our youth club.
  18. It is rare, but 50 quid for a Grapevine single, the trouble is, when you want them you can never get them...when you don't, they are everywhere
  19. You are better off starting low then people think they are in with a chance of getting it - I sold 5 acetates on here 3 weeks back and started them all at 100, two of them made 500 plus..
  20. Never Love A Robin...
  21. Glad to hear it Marc and it truly is a one off, I've never recorded it for anyone else.
  22. What, that disco thing?
  23. 1) would rather spend time with my family 2) too old for travelling, drugs etc 3) probably wouldn't like the music 4) can't be bothered 5) been there done that
