  1. Good job I wasn't selling it then, I thought it was worth £800
  2. Yes I've had the South African one through my hands, tri centre which makes it look really weird
  3. There's an interesting story behind this one. Back in 1991 I was running a magazine called Beatin Rhythm and was also at the peak of my UK label collecting phase, and I was contacted by this chap John Ritson who was the original lead singer of Chapter Five. He was after a copy of One In A Million, which I had, but didn't want to part with really. Anyway he sent me lots of great cuttings and we had a good chat and one of the things he told me was that the band's manager, the apparently aptly named Mervyn Conn, had asked him to leave the band and go solo and call himself John St. John. This suggestion didn't go down too well and the band stayed together for a while longer and then split. Anyway a couple of years ago, to my and several other peoples astonishment, a German copy of You Can't Mean It backed with One In A Million was turned up, complete with picture sleeve and credited to John St. John! At the weekend I was browsing Ebay and lo and behold, there's another copy of John St. John but this time on an Italian label called GTA records. It was described as VG- with a small edge crack but I thought I'd go for it anyway. So I won it at £118 (I bid £350) and I've now got it and not only does it play near mint with no sound from the crack, the sound quality is unbelievable, it's better than the UK CBS copy (which I also have). Note that they've mixed the composers up too. The point of all this is - I've had hundreds and hundreds of rare records over the years, going up to £2500 on one thing I sold, but I rate this particular record as being up amongst the rarest of them all. How many copies are known? Can't be that many. And I know it's a love or hate record but I absolutely love it!

  10. Well I've got pay for it this afternoon, if you want it you can have it for what I paid, I'm not bothered about it now, I usually sell it for 100
  11. You're not gonna get this cheap nowadays...I just paid 80 odd quid for it myself
  12. The Carstairs - It really hurts me girl, would benefit greatly from having the vocals removed.
  13. You're going to need to put label names and whether original or reissue before anyone can make you an offer...
  14. What label is it on?
  15. Original red and white Island is 150 to 250.
  16. I'm afraid as the Casino went on, Richard certainly became a drinker...remember him introducing John Leach as "Put that whisky down"
  17. Ken thats impossible, you must be thinking of something else - it wasn't booted until 1977 and the delta mark proves this, 103250
  18. It's a bit of a shame having to pay way way over the odds for a copy though isn't it, has no one else got one for a sensible price, 100 - 120?
  19. We've been discussing it for 2 months and theres a separate topic about it
  20. About 50-50 discussion/moaning
  21. I'll put 20 in the kitty guys
  22. Can't stand Sly & Robbie or any post 1970 reggae. I chose Jah Wobble purely because of the bass on the Metal Box album.
  23. Right so there are some bizarre choices on the set, I can see that now, but I'm not sure how anyone can say that the tracks below aren't worthy of putting on any Northern compilation 3.
