  1. Presenting a decade’s and a half's worth of Jamaican sounds, from the 1961 proto-Ska of Derrick & Patsy to the early 70’s DJ style of Dennis Alcapone and Tony King…I also found a Shocks Of Mighty version by Sir Collins which I’d never even heard of before so I included that — with all manner of Ska, Rocksteady and Reggae inbetween, plus a recent release, and a nice medley from Desmond Dekker to end with. Nearly everything here is first time on podcast for me, there are a couple from the one I did at New year but they fit in well with this one so I used them again. All taken from vinyl and mixed live so one or two will have good old surface noise… DERRICK & PATSY — FEEL SO FINE ROLAND ALPHONSO — THE PRESIDENT THE SKATALITES — TWO FOR ONE RITA MARLEY & THE SOULETTES — ONE MORE CHANCE BUSTERS ALL STARS — VERA CRUZ (ALT) LEE KING PERRY — FEEL LIKE JUMPING BUSTERS ALL STARS — LION OF JUDAH NORMA FRAZER — EVERYBODY LOVES A LOVER BUSTERS ALL STARS — CAST YOUR FATE TO THE WIND TOMMY McCOOK — WINDFALL THE BASSIES — CHECKING OUT ROLAND ALPHONSO — ROLLIE POLLIE THE PROGRESSIONS — FAIR DEAL BOBBY AITKEN — SWEETS FOR MY SWEET DERRICK MORGAN — SOFT HAND GLEN & LLOYD — RUDIES GIVE UP HUGH GODFREY — MAD WORLD THE INVADERS — SOULFUL MUSIC KEN BOOTHE — HOME HOME HOME DENNIS ALCAPONE — HOME VERSION THE LYRICS — A GET IT ROLAND ALPHONSO — WOMEN OF THE WORLD SLIM SMITH — LONELY LOVER SOUL VENDORS — MUSICAL HAPPINESS THE TECHNIQUES — I’M IN THE MOOD FOR LOVE LARRY & ALVIN — YOU’RE CHEATING HEART DILLINGER — JOHN DEVOUR LESTER STERLING — REGGAE IN THE WIND THE PIONEERS — GIVE ME LITTLE LOVING THE BELTONES — FEEL ALRIGHT KEN BOOTHE — BE YOURSELF THE HIPPY BOYS — THE HIPPYS ARE HERE RUDY MILLS — JOHN JONES THEO BECKFORD — EASY SNAPPIN’ 68 THE TECHNIQUES — THERE COMES A TIME THE UPSETTERS — CANE RIVER ROCK JUSTIN HINDS & THE DOMINOES — YOU SHOULD HAVE KNOWN BETTER THE MARVELLS — FIGHT A BROKE SIR COLLINS — WE A COME DREAD RUPIE EDWARDS ALL STARS — FULL MOON THE VIBRATORS — GO BACK TONY KING — SPEAK NO EVIL TOMMY McCOOK — BLACK POWER KINGSLEY WRAY & SKYCREW — IKALINDA JOHN HOLT — ALI BABA KEITH HUDSON (DENNIS ALCAPONE) — SPANISH AMIGO DENNIS ALCAPONE — ROCK THEM CAPONE DENNIS ALCAPONE — RIPE CHERRY DENNIS ALCAPONE — ALCAPONE GUNS DON’T BARK AUGUSTUS PABLO — TOO LATE DESMOND DEKKER — LIVE AND LEARN https://www.mixcloud.com/mayfairmenthol/musical-happiness-fifteen-years-of-ska-rocksteady-reggae/
  2. Yeah, Tommy Tucker should of course be Jimmy Ricks, alphabetically it was in the right place but I had the Tommy Tucker version on my mind so made a cock up

  4. What a pr*ck, he won't be able to play Dean Parrish
  5. What, we now have to do a background check to see what colour the singer is?
  6. Nobody is playing the Bill Oddie record, it's just a nice record to listen to
  7. I don't think there's such thing as a stupid price for this, I sold a VG one last year for £1200, I don't even know when the last original came up for sale before that one
  8. Once again. Not everybody is, or wants to be, a DJ. Some people just like to play records at home. That's why they don't give a toss about what label it's on. I personally make a living from selling Northern Soul originals in the main, but I can't afford to keep them, so I get a reissue of the same track and play it to myself until my heart is content. I don't want a cd, I don't want an mp3, I want a record which I can play.
  9. I must have thought he said it when being interviewed in Ian Levine's film. I was obviously not paying attention.
  10. There's another NS rumour down the pan then :-)
  11. I'm sure you would, I'm just talking about the price of tickets. What next, £100 to see Tommy Hunt?
  12. Fantastic record that Al Matthews..
  13. "The seance will start as soon as I move the box off the table"
  14. Kate Bush hadn't toured since 1979 so I can understand why people would want to go and see her. She also writes all her own songs and is multi-talented... Gladys Knight is an old soul singer..
  15. Is Bobby Angelle same person as Bobby Garrett or Earl Nelson
  16. How many demos have I ever seen for sale - one - how many issues - more than one
  17. Demo is rarer than the issue on this one
  18. Someone made that and then sold it for £122? I'm in the wrong business.
  19. Looking for Garnet Mimms? He's usually Looking For You! sorry
  20. Well he's using old reissues so they're going to have the old reissue information in the run off...
  21. Was going from Christmas 1966 until 2003 mate - they upped the season ticket price by £100 and didn't sign anyone, we were relegated, I said that's enough for me and I haven't been since - will always support them but I won't go again - unless they bring back standing and hooliganism
  22. I can understand people wanting to own a lookalike - but really, paying more than a fiver for a photocopied label is just crazy
  23. There is an "official" reissue of this on the Goldmine Sevens label oops sorry John didn't see your reply
  24. Written by Mickey Moonshine. I think.
