  1. Maybe, but it doesn't mean it should be forced on people as being representitive of "Northern Soul", just because it's soulful doesn't mean it's right for Northern consumption
  2. Alcohol being served changed the dynamic of the northern scene completely.
  3. Where did you see that Eddie?
  4. That is very true, I did say that, but I still think I was mixing it up with something else because I can't have been that wrong!
  5. Easy one - original is nice thick vinyl with moulded label - pressing is crappy styrene with stuck on label
  6. No problem sunbeam
  7. If you've played it ten times but it still looks and sounds mint - well you can grade it as mint minus. I'd have graded it as EX or EX+, I'm starting to use EX even when I know a record hasn't been played but it has tiny marks from being removed from it's paper sleeve.
  8. Not once did he say he hated your stuff Ian, he just tried to explain at length why he didn't like that particular track, you really should read more than the first line
  9. I call it as I see it (or hear it) and this record is f*cking shit so there you go Nev, nothing to do with who plays it or how much it costs.
  10. I've never played most of these, thanks for the tip!
  11. Yeah it's a boot. Sorry!
  12. It's not just me then! Thank you.
  13. If Butch started to play Footsee would you all say it was great and start playing it?
  14. There's gonna be a fair few copies floating around in the next few weeks...
  15. Steve, I think I know what you mean. It's not synthetic but it's multi layered and there's too much polish. I'm not suggesting recording live with a mic hanging over the bandand doing it one take (or am I) but track upon track takes away a lot of the punch. Although that was probably the idea, big big production, though I don't think it's needed these days MYSELF PERSONALLY.
  16. could well be!
  17. It's certainly not Tommy Tate, it's a British recording, I had a couple of these acetates from the Writers Workshop, one was by Biddu and one was by Carl Douglas, they were both terrible.

  19. Smashing list that Steve.
  20. No there are a few dubbed from vinyl - in fact I;d say over half of them - thats why the Tomangoes was scrapped, the quality was poor having been dubbed off a VG++ single
  21. Why not just by Grazing In The Grass by Friends Of Distinction seeing as this is just a version of that with different vocals. Talk about having more money than sense, quality wise this must be worth all of three quid.
  22. Was going to say similar, it's even been on youtube a few years back
  23. Not booted on that label design as far as I know
