  1. Lay This Burden Down was, Bitter Into Sweet wasn't..
  2. You can soon tell the difference when you play the bootleg - it was pressed of a VG original so even if it looks mint, it'll play with crackle.
  3. Any idea who is doing these (bootleg) cd's, over 60 volumes now, lots of beach type stuff but also tons from major labels too. Just intrigued as to where they are coming from.
  4. No I know mate cheers, anyone who charges for a mailer when using a used mailer is just taking the mickey.
  5. I always send in a brand new mailer, if I was recycling I;d just charge the exact amount it cost to post not 15p on top.
  6. NEW LIST pete smith 01902 326306 pete.smith@freeuk.com HI, HERE’S ANOTHER LIST OF NICE ORIGINALS, AS ALWAYS THESE HAVE BEEN PLAY GRADED, FOR THOSE WHO STILL CAN’T GET A HANDLE ON THIS — IF I SAY THAT THE RECORD LOOKS VERY GOOD BUT ACTUALLY PLAYS MINT — THEN IT DOES! IT WILL BE PRICED ACCORDINGLY — NOT AS A MINT RECORD BUT AS SOMEWHERE INBETWEEN VG AND MINT. A RECORD CAN LOOK LIKE IT CAME OUT OF A SKIP AND STILL PLAY SUPERBLY. I SHOULD KNOW, MOST OF MY COLLECTION LOOKS LIKE THAT…WITH MOST OF THEM IT’S THE INTROS THAT HAVE A LITTLE NOISE LABELS ARE CLEAN UNLESS STATED. ONLY THE A SIDE (THE NORTHERN SIDE) IS GRADED ALL ARE USA ORIGINALS JOY LOVEJOY — IN ORBIT — CHECKER EX 50 SOLD Plays mint. Swoosh noise before record stars. Drill hole in label. PAUL SMITH — I’LL RUN — JACKLYN EX 175 SOLD I’ll Run plays a strong EX if not better. Ain’t That Something has a small scratch causing a minor click at the start. Small wol THE TYMES — WHAT WOULD I DO — MGM DEMO VG++ 30 Crackly intro THE ARTISTICS — GIRL I NEED YOU — BRUNSWICK DEMO EX 30 Lovely demo copy THE VELVELETTES — THESE THINGS WILL KEEP ME LOVING YOU — SOUL EX- 25 SOLD Bit of micro-noise on the intro otherwise perfect THE FESTIVALS — HIGH WIDE AND HANDSOME — SMASH EX- 20 Didn’t know this actually, uptempo dancer with midtemp flip, nice THE CHARLES IV — WE CAN DO SOME BUSINESS / BETTER GET A HOLD OF YOURSELF — SMASH EX 75 SOLD 150 quid rated double sider THE VOGUES — THAT’S THE TUNE — CO & CE W/DEMO M- 25 Unfashionable record maybe but a lovely white demo. X on label and radio station mark WBUX BARBARA McNAIR — YOU’RE GONNA LOVE MY BABY — MOTOWN W/DEMO M- 100 SOLD Black marker on the label unfortunately, vinyl is pristine BOB BRADY & THE CON CHORDS — MORE MORE MORE OF YOUR LOVE — CHARIOT W/DEMO EX 25 Lovely white demo THE HONEY BEES — SHE DON’T DESERVE YOU — FONTANA DEMO VG+/EX 30 SOLD Love this girl group dancer. Pink demo. Little crackle on piano intro then fine. THE POETS — SHE BLEW A GOOD THING — SYMBOL EX 15 Every home should have one! THE VIRGINIA WOLVES — STAY — AMY EX 15 SOLD Plays mint but has a warp, obviously not affecting play LOU JOHNSON — MAGIC POTION (INSTRUMENTAL) — BIG HILL EX 12 With Always Something There To Remind me on other side THE ASCOTS — MISS HEARTBREAKER — MBS EX- 25 A real oldie, plays EX THE T.S.U. TORONOADOS — WHAT GOOD AM I — ATLANTIC EX- 20 Name on label ACE SPECTRUM — DON’T SEND NO ONE ELSE — ATLANTIC VG+/EX 25 Just a little noise on the intro GARNET MIMMS — THINKIN’ — VEEP EX- 10 Been Such A Long Way Home — superb ballad B side JIMMY & VELLA CAMERON — LOVIN’ YOU IS SUCH A GROOVE — REPRISE DEMO M- 125 SOLD Been a long long time since I had one of these — vinyl is practically new but label has some ‘browning’, I can send a scan if necessary THE FANTAISIONS — UNNECESSARY TEARS — SATELLITE EX 25 SOLD Cracking oldie ZENA FOSTER — BABY LET ME TEACH YOU — VEEP DEMO EX 80 100mph stuff, midtempo tune on B side, that side clicks at start — otherwise would have been 100 NANCY AMES — I DON’T WANT TO TALK ABOUT IT — EPIC M- 30 Original plain yellow label, small wol on other side THE FAWNS — NOTHING BUT LOVE CAN SAVE ME — CAPCITY EX 15 Nice oldie. One or two pops nothing serious. JIMMY RUFFIN — HOW CAN I SAY I’M SORRY — SOUL EX- 20 Nice copy CONNIE HAINES — WHAT’S EASY FOR TWO IS HARD FOR ONE — MOTOWN DEMO EX 25 Might be my eyes but centre hole looks a tiny bit bigger than usual! BOBBY PATTERSON — TILL YOU GIVE IN — JETSTAR EX- 15 SOLD Fast dancer BRENDA HOLLOWAY — WHEN I’M GONE — TAMLA EX- 15 SOLD Plays beautifully. DEAN PARRISH — TELL HER — BOOM EX- 20 West Coast styrene press. Gold ‘deletion’ mark on label. Nice copy. THE COMMODORES — THE ZOO (THE HUMAN ZOO) — MOWEST DEMO VG+ 20 Must be pretty scarce on US original demo, I can’t remember having one — intro is crackly on both sides THE INVITATIONS — WHAT’S WRONG WITH ME BABY — DYNOVOICE DEMO EX 100 SOLD Play wise you’ll have a job finding a better one. The label on What’s Wrong side is discoloured and is more pink than white, don’t ask me. It has a little chip on the edge, hard to describe but it isn’t a chip out of the side where there’s a gap, more like a shaving on the top surface. Tiny tiny thing. CHUCK JACKSON — THE DAY MY WORLD STOOD STILL — VIP EX+ 10 Some good underrated stuff by Chcuk from when he was with Motown ELAINE HILL — IS IT REALLY WORTH IT — RSVP EX- 20 Good oldie that never really did much — same girl as Lainie Hill THE CORVAIRS — LOVE IS SUCH A FUNNY THING — SYLVIA DEMO M- 30 Nice double sider SAM DEES — FRAGILE HANDLE WITH CARE — ATLANTIC (JAMAICAN) M- 50 Left over from last week — mint copy — 50 quid? Small writing on label (circle around centre hole) THE ROYAL PREMIERS — WHO AM I WITHOUT YOUR LOVE — TOY DEMO EX 20 Nice doo-wop style dancer, and rare on a white demo THE STAGEMASTERS — BABY I’M HERE JUST TO LOVE YOU — SLIDE VG++ 15 White and blue original with Chips promo sticker, plays absolutely perfect SANDY WYNNS — LOVE BELONGS TO EVERYONE — CHAMPION DEMO VG++/EX 20 West Coast demo — one or two very minor background pops THE SPELLBINDERS — CHAIN REACTION — COLUMBIA M- 20 SOLD All time classic TONY MIDDLETON — MY HOME TOWN — ALFA DEMO VG+/EX 15 A little crackle on the intro — tough white demo TONY AMARO & THE CHARIOTS — HEY BABY / RUNNIN’ AROUND — LOMA DEMO EX 20 Two uptempo dancers, light paper scuffs THE TRUE TONES — HE’S GOT THE NERVE — JOSIE EX 20 SOLD Great underrated oldie TOJO — BROKEN HEARTED LOVER — TEC EX 25 SOLD 100 mph Wigan dancer THE VOLCANOS — A LADY’S MAN / HELP WANTED — ARCTIC EX 30 Light blue label, blue text original — two monsters WITCHES & THE WARLOCK — BEHIND LOCKED DOORS — SEW CITY DEMO VG++ 20 Forgotten nowadays — but rare on a white demo I’LL GET SOME PHOTOS UP ON SOUL SOURCE OR FACEBOOK UK POSTAGE IS £2.50 FOR THE FIRST THREE ITEMS THEN 30p EACH EXTRA AFTER SPECIAL DELIVERY £7.10 OVERSEAS, WILL QUOTE PAYPAL TO pete.smith@freeuk.com CHEERS
  7. John recently auctioned a UK release by Lita Roza and it went for over £100. As you probably know, she did the hit version of How Much Is That Doggie In The Window as well.
  8. Never seen such a detailed discography as this - UK and USA https://www.amazon.co.uk/Heat-Wave-Motown-Reference-Series/dp/0876502044
  9. Duh. Never came out on Tangerine though.
  10. See it also has a TRC catalogue number
  11. No that's a really odd one, placement of the titles, everything looks weird - no producers listed either
  12. Two packs above still left, will reduce to £40 each if anyone wants them
  13. entertaining at trendy Northern Soul nights
  14. Thought some of you might like this, King Sporty live on stage with Timmy Thomas on keyboards in Miami, 1977...funky stuff..was going to post in videos but it said I couldn't start a new topic!
  15. I have a book called Heat Wave - The Motown Fact Book by David Bianco, massive thick thing featuring all sorts of discographies and personal listings and God knows what, if anyone wants it I'd sell it for £40
  16. I agree, it had me laughing out loud several times, especially when he used the local accent, one bit when they went to this womans flat in Walsall and she referred to her partner "Oi, saft c*nt", it rang so true...
  17. Stick Tight To Me is awful under any circumstances, sorry. Hole In Your Soul is cracking Northern and well worth the money. Please don't be rude to me, I'm 54.
  18. That documentary is brilliant, it's all about this small studio in L.A. where everyone has recorded, Nirvana etc
  19. No don't get me wrong, if the record was worth £500 I'd be daft not to pay the excess postage, I'm talking about when it's worth £5, £10, £20
  20. No I just buy for myself Ivor - reggae 45's - don't buy soul 45's, apart from the odd British and bootlegs, just wait for people to bring them to me
  21. I'm afraid although it might be cutting off my nose to spite my face, I would rather not have the record than pay £5 postage for something that costs no more than £2.50 to post, it's a matter of principle. And I do this, all the time on eBay, if post is over £3, I just don't bid, so I can't complain when they overcharge me.
