Issue, Re-issue,Pressing, Boot - All a bit confusing.
Pete S replied to Fishdockroad's topic in All About the SOUL
In the 70's, any big sound that was reissued on a USA label was called a pressing whether it was a boot or a legal reissue - it was just a generic term -
Okay well I can't risk people getting viruses and whatnot from one of my links so let's go back to Flikr for now. If you see anything you want, please message me don't reply on thread. Oh and if you see a load of rare Ska records, I don't have those anymore https://www.flickr.com/photos/raresoul/?

I believe so! It's one of my favourites. Though that doesn't mean much. I'm sure I posted up a scan of it with the hand written comments on the label from the manager.

Any advice on what I should ask for this please? Don't often get stuck on UK labels but not had this before.

Ken Bruce played The Snake this morning lol -
Bloody daft record to choose as well!
-
I wouldn't have even mentioned it if I thought it were anything but
-
On his own FB page. That's his expert opinion, I disagree with it, end of story.
-
Very true. The owner's seen the comments. They can decide what to do next.
-
Stop the press, John Manship says it's a counterfeit, all the other experts are wrong, I'd best smash it into a million pieces hadn't I?
-
Fantastic work!

Just following orders...
-
No, I've just asked people to contact me privately so that I can give them the details of the seller and they can take it from there

Doh! - Al Foster Band (Night of the wolf) is a fake artist
Pete S replied to a topic in Look At Your Box
Definitely, it probably just got picked up by chance as a new release - I remember it being imported as a new release and I bought one from Ruby Red for £1, as did hundreds of other people. -
Just confirmed no ARP just Nashville and mastering numbers
-
There may be - I'll ask again

As promised here is the low down on the Frank Wilson test pressing. This is not my record (oh how I wish it was). It belongs to the owner of a record store 30 minutes outside of Detroit. It literally 'came through the door' with various other ephemera including records and reel to reel tapes. The owners have had it for around 4 years but didn't realise the value until the recent Detroit A Go Go convention when someone tipped them off as to exactly what they had. Here is a Information from Robb K who worked for Motown and compiled the From The Vaults compilations and had access to the library: "I never saw nor heard of this test pressing. It was pressed at RCA Indianapolis, and mastered in Nashville. Looks legit enough, with that 1964-66 Quality Control stamp, and the mid '60s style test pressing record, with depressed centre area". The matrixes are: A side - SK4M - 4916 1 A Nashville Matrix 5 ZQL 163317 B side - SK4M - 4915 1 A Nashville Matrix 5 ZAQQ 147105 I've seen film of the actual record being played and both sides are correct but are the same as the released versions. I am not going to be involved in selling this record. I said I would get the initial ball rolling and I have so now, if anyone is interested in finding out more about the record and beginning a communication with the record's owner, please send me a personal message via facebook, email me if you've got my address or contact me at Pete S on Soul Source and I will put you in touch with the owners. Thanks for reading and especially thanks for all the (mainly) positive comments. Pete Smith

The only boot is the white label Numero Uno -
No mate it's not mine I'm just helping get it out there for the owner who is 'under the radar', I'll give full info tomorrow
-
Because nobody had found it before, pretty obvious really
