  1. I grew up with reggae and soul music, I say grew up, I mean listened to at youth club discos etc from the age of 12 and by the age of 14 I had several records which I didn't know where classed as Northern Soul but the first reciord I bought that I could really tell the difference - it wasn't typical Motown - was The Jo©ker by Butch Baker on Cherub bootleg...I played it a thousand times. Probably why I'm a bit mad now I suppose. That was in early 1974.
  2. I don't know mate, I don't touch Jamaican pressings! It's a good find though.
  3. I got 200 for my last one - 2 years back
  4. Mick won't because he fell out with him over Ebay as well.
  5. Of course it's not 1000 times rare than the UK one, have you seen how rare the UK one is? It certainly is rare though, I've seen 4 I think.
  6. Be looking at 125 for a demo and 175 for an issue
  7. Sorry, don't have any details for him, except he lives in Luton or Bedford (says London on his ebay thing). Used to get some great records off Paul but have stopped bidding on his auctions now due to him overcharging on the postage.
  8. Why on earth would anyone auction a copy, it's hardly rare is it? There's one for sale on here almost every week let alone on ebay.
  9. I bought that off him at the Lafayette one monday night in early 1979 - it was £22
  10. Pauline, was this a reggae record by any chance, if it was then you've become another victim of the Mexican scam, your bidder is a fake bidder who has only bumped up the price to annoy you and cause trouble for other sellers of jamaican music. I've had this done to me a dozen times now...anyone with a zero feedback, ban them.
  11. I think it's 1970 or 71 as they look like the 60's ended with 79000. So if they do a repress, would they have kept the original stampers then, suppose they must have. (Which is what Jerry said)
  12. Yes, I see it, well spotted Sherlock. This one I have is a definite repress then. I shall now put it on ebay with and write a load of b*llocks about it
  13. Right, this is what I thought, but how did they get that delta number?
  14. Do you mean the white demo, or did it come out again?
  15. This one has always confused me because they were sold alongside all the other pressings of the time, except the delta number is 87770 which makes it a couple of years earlier than it's appearance in the UK in 1976. So are they all originals?
  16. I wasn't joking, honestly - in all those years of collecting UK, I didn't know about it!
  17. Just for an experiment I decided to pull records out blind from various sections of my collection (originals, US pressings, reissues etc) and see what happened. Half the stuff is very well known (some would say played out!) but the other half includes some great selections and several records which I'd not played in years but now sound great, so hopefully you'll give it a listen and maybe discover something you like. Artists include The Magictones, Eddie Holman, Barbara Lewis, Roy Roberts, Tony Hester, Turnpikes, Sisters Love, Robin Rice, Court davis, Keni Lewis and so on. It starts off with The Champion, don't let that put you off should you be sick of hearing it. Full track list to follow. https://planetrecords.podbean.com/2009/05/1...-random-oldies/ I PUT THIS IN THE WRONG SECTION THE OTHER DAY, JUST EDITING IT TO ADD THE TRACK LISTING THE TURNPIKES - CAST A SPELL is on here somewhere also! WILLIE MITCHELL - THE CHAMPION EDDIE HOLMAN - WHERE I'M NOT WANTED DENISE LASALLE - DO ME RIGHT JACKIE LEE - THE SHOTGUN AND THE DUCK THE CREATIONS - OH BABY THE FABULOUS JADES - COME ON AND LIVE THE LEWIS SISTERS - YOU NEED ME BARBARA LEWIS - THE STARS BETTYE SWANN - THE MAN WHO SAID NO COURT DAVIS - TRY TO THINK WHAT YOU'RE DOING PAT LEWIS - HIT AND RUN PRINCE GEORGE - WRONG CROWD HARRY DEAL - YOU'RE ALWAYS IN MY MIND ROY ROBERT - I KNOW WHAT TO DO TO SATUSFY YOU TONY HESTOR - DOWN IN THE DUMPS DETROIT EXECUTIVES - COOL OFF THE MAGNETICS - COUNT THE DAYS SISTERS LOVE - I'M LEARNING TO TRUST MY MAN MIRWOOD STRINGS - SUPERDANCE KENI LEWIS - NOT THE MARRYING KIND THE CHALFONTES - HE LOVES ME THE PERSIANETTES - IT HAPPENS EVERY DAY ROBIN RICE - I'VE HAD IT (ORIGINAL MIX) THE SHOWMEN - TAKE IT BABY THE DETROIT PROPHETS (THE ORIGINALS) - SUSPICION THE DREAM MERCHANTS - STOP (YOU'RE BREAKING MY HEART) TIMMY WILLIS - SUCH MISERY THE MAGICTONES - HOW CAN I FORGET YOU PEGGY MARCH - LOSING MY TOUCH
  18. I think Bogue thought you were referring to me here Steve.
  19. Great track that Sylvie Vartan - I didn't actually realise it came out on UK til I got a demo off ebay a few weeks ago.
  20. Didn't have much left but it looked like he was making a clean break of it because he was trying to sell all his dj equipment as well.
  21. No but I did in the original message that I sent him.
