  1. When the f*cking price guide came out!
  2. I used to know what the last silver top was but I can't remember now, it would have been early 67 though I think, the yellow demos continued til 69 or 70, I did write all this up somewhere but the old brain cells have deteriorated. 10121 Earl harrison is a definite silver top but 10127 Brenda & Tabs is a box logo I think.
  3. Someone else who obviously never got subjected to 'comedown hour' at the Casino "who's on next?" "Dave Evison" "Shit, I think I'm coming down"
  4. I got this one off ebay last week, 80 something quid.
  5. So everyone else thinks it's rare except yourself? £200 for the next copy, you watch. p.s. I'd already sold it when I posted this topic so I wasn't trying to hype it up...like I said, 2 copies in nearly 10 years but over a dozen jack Montgomery's and two Vickie Baines!
  6. It was meant to be a spoof of Jockos' Obama avatar, I'll take it down later!
  7. Dunno mate, checked again, working fine
  8. I'm afraid the UK London one isn't worth much. I've got a yellow London demo with handwritten details and I'd only rate it at about £20.
  9. /more/soul...d-the-right-boy thats the vocal /more/soul...ight-boy-inst-0 this is the instrumental - I actually prefer the inst as she has a little girl voice but whatever...sounds really great played out loud
  10. I'd record it for you but I already packed it ready to post, besides I can't get the settings right on audacity.
  11. Anyone can have 400 unknowns, surely. I've got hundreds of them. Except in my case, they are uknown because they are rubbish
  12. OK well I can honestly say I've only ever had this record twice, and last week was the first one I've had since 2000, and I know I'm not John Manship or Pat Brady but I do see and sell an awful lot of records - so I was stunned to see it only booked at £30 in the latest price guide. So I knew that couldn't be right, I listed it at £125 and I've had 4 calls on it so far. What a fantastic record too, both sides, if I could get audacity to work I'd record it for you, but John, £30? It's way rarer than some of the records you auction in my opinion.
  13. I don't know and I have no opinion on that really, though he did play me 6 or 7 records down the phone the other day (which I duly noted down and found one within seconds, a second one I found but it was too expensive so already known couldn't find the other 4 or 5)... but I had to say something about The Originals thing because no-one would have ever heard it had it not been for Ian. I'll see if I can get him to record me a cd of some of these unknowns and what he does know is that I will say it's good if it's good and it's crap if it's crap. Then maybe I could post some up or do a podcast????
  14. PETE SMITH 28 JENKS ROAD WOMBOURNE WOLVERHAMPTON WV5 0BL 01902 893569 07784 507360 Pete.smith@freeuk.com VICKI ANDERSON - WIDE AWAKE IN A DREAM - DELUXE M- 25 Bargain...lovely beat ballad ANN D'ANDREA - DON'T STOP LOOKIN' - JAMIE M- 25 SOLD Original white/olive label BARBARA MASON - AIN'T GOT NOBODY - ARCTIC EX 40 Fantastic track, so underrated VIOLA WILLS - TOGETHER FOREVER - BRONCO M 25 RIP Viola BILLY BARNES - TO PROVE MY LOVE / UNTIL - LIBERTY DEMO EX- 40 Double sider, Prove is a horrible Roy Hamilton copy, Until is a sweet Sam Cooke/ Brill Building type early 60's midtempo - books at 75. The minus grade is for a little scratch in the middle, light click. AUDREY SLO - GOT TO FIND THE RIGHT BOY - SWAN EX 125 SOLD Absoloutely fantastic oldie going way back to the Torch days - both the vocal and the instrumental are brilliant - this is only the second copy I've ever had so it must be tough, and it's price in the latest price guide is a joke. Great stuff. THE ITHACAS - GONNA FIX YOU GOOD / IF YOU WANT MY LOVE - FEE BEE M- 75 SOLD Solid double sider in immaculate condition ROCK CANDY - ALONE WITH NO LOVE - DONTEE WHITE DEMO EX- 125 Very rare white demo of this brilliant tune - it has some tiny crackle in parts which is why I've given it a minus grade, I think most would have graded it as EX THE DOLLS - THE REASON WHY - LOMA DEMO M- 40 Truly one of the greatest girl group dancers of all time EMILE GRIFFITH - GOIN GOIN GONE - TANGERINE ISSUE EX 50 This is exactly the same record as The Determinations - You Can't Hold On To Love - Important. Brilliant stomper from the ex-boxing champion, this is a rare stock copy. Has some weird marks on the vinyl but they don't sound. ANNABELLE FOX - LONELY GIRL - SATIN VG+ 125 SOLD OK let me give you a full description of this. Visually, it has ring wear on the raised part of the label (it dips in the middle). The vinyl looks VG to VG+. The play grade is a very strong VG++ with some very minor crackle in the background on the very quite parts, and it has a click on the last 10 seconds. Perfectly acceptable and of course absolutely brilliant. The other side has a nasty mark and a chip (a kind of flaking of the vinyl) in the run on which has no effect on the other side i.e. you can't see it, heart it, nothing - it's not a chip out of the record, hard to explain sorry. Seriously - this is a 300 quid record and it's well worth it for this price in this nick. SANDRA PHILLIPS - YOU SUCCEEDED - BROADWAY EX 40 SOLD Come on folks, you should be playing brilliant records like this OUT, it's miles better than World Without Sunshine and it has that tasty grey lined label too! THE NOVAS NINE - PAIN - ABC DEMO EX 40 Very fast dancer which is getting played around this area THAT'S ALL FOR NOW - PLEASE CHECK OUT MY EBAY ITEMS, LOADS OF GREAT STUFF THERE AND YOU MIGHT JUST FIND A BARGAIN https://shop.ebay.co.uk/merchant/mayfairmen...Q_sopZ12?_rdc=1 PAYMENT: BY CARD, PAYPAL, CHEQUE, BANK TRANSFER, CASH POSTAGE: £1.70 FIRST 3 RECORDS 10p EACH AFTER OVERSEAS - SAME PAYPAL ADDRESS IS SAME AS MY EMAIL
  15. I'll explain WE to you James. Ian was the only one who had the track. The intro was completely destroyed and the entire track had 'bleeps' over it. They recreated the intro from the middle section and got a sound expert in to do equalisation to remove the beeps. So WE is Levine, his producer and a sound angineer. Levine then played it at the Rocket and put it on the Rocket Rarities cd which was given away free. Anyone else who has played it has taken it from that original source, which was Ian Levine's. So he's not a liar...and you're wrong to try and show him up for this one.
  16. Sold mine for £250 last year Dave. The Soul Sounds collection would be worth considerably more than that.
  17. Great minds etc, you beat me by 10 seconds
  18. Yeah it was on something like "20 great unknown soul tracks from the 60's" which came out in about 1987/88 - Ace label, you're right
  19. £250 - £300
  20. I used to really like the fact that Rob designed a logo for all his tapes sale lists. Unfortunately his surname wasn't Eagle or Panther or some other 'cool' animal so he had a picture of a pheasant.
  21. Yeah if you follow that link at the start, that's Rob's website
  22. And what about the dates, Lou Price was actually released in 1971, Pookie Hudson in 65...
  23. Rob Pheasant did all those, a one eyed blind bloke should have spotted they were all fake, all of the fonts are completely wrong, all of the release dates are wrong, and none of those companies woould have licensed those records e.g. Pookie Hudson would have been on London for a start.
  24. I don't think it's meant to be a dick measuring contest, I presume he was told to do a 2 hour show which will entertain the listeners so he can play what he wants basically, doesn't matter who discovered it or where it came from as long as the audience enjoy it - and out of that audience of, say, 100,000, there's 3 of you listening out to see if he's playing a carver, which is very sad really.
  25. I am 99% positive that I saw a different label design to this altogether - white, like the Jamaican Trojan label, with an actual picture of a stag on it. I must be going nuts.
