Outtasite look great and have a star with their logo on the label so there's no mistaking.. -
Well I have finally, after a break of a few months, updated my blogsite LOST VINYL GEMS, if you are unaware of this site, basically it is 500+ scans of any rare and interesting 45's I get hold of (UK labels only) with reviews of most and links to youtube clips. I haven't done the reviews for this lot yet but at least you can gaze at them in awe LOL this update features: JOHN ANDREWS - PARLOPHONE TOMMY QUICKLY - PICCADILLY THE PIONEERS - JJ BABA BROOKS - ISLAND THE HIPPY BOYS - AMALGAMATED DOBBY DOBSON - TROJAN ROLAN ALPHONSO - R & B THE VICEROYS - CRAB LARRY & ALVIN - COXSONE and loads more split 40/40 with Soul and reggae and 20% beat, rock n roll etc. All in living colour. https://lostvinylgemsofthe60s.blogspot.co.uk/

Pete S replied to Illusive's topic in All About the SOUL
Coincidentally, I sold one of those, well my only copy, on Discogs yesterday for £6! -

See that sort of thing doesn't make sense, it's only a tenner anyway so why boot it? -

He is right about Outtasite though, I think their back catalogue is one of the best ever for a UK label. And I've been able to replace a lot of records I sold via them (Dynamics, Jerry Jackson, Cool Off etc) -

The trouble is you are always going to get people who are into the Northern scene by differing degrees, I know tons of people who have been on or are still on the Northern scene but never bothered to even collect records, they just got something else from it. So you can understand why for them, going out, meeting people and having a dance is more important than what label or even format a record is played off. -

I first put a record on when I was 2 in 1962. Since then I've put a million on. Why would I swap that for an mp3, it's about the whole experience of taking a record out of it's sleeve, putting it on the deck, or in the old days, putting it on the auto changer and watching it drop, and the amazing sight of the arm touching down on the edge of the record and then...music comes out of it! When you grew up with that, nothing will ever substitute it. Playing a record is an experience, listening to a record from an mp3 is just nothing in comparison.- 192 comments

She made some great girly pop records, I've got two of them on my jukebox, Wonder Boy and Look Of Love, also her We Know We're In Love was played in 1977...rip

Do we have to, I've explained this a thousand times. I don't know why other people buy them, but I buy them when I've sold an original but still want to play the record at home now and again. -
Yeah it was mate, I'll try and find it again, found one from Mick Smith selling soul packs as well, 1974
-
I've got that started for you mate, should do some decent business on that now

Well I'm just talking about the last ten years -
All updated now.

Robb, the Venus backing track has been around for ages, someone's gone and done a new vocal over it - in my opinion

If it's Pharrell with Velvet Hammer on the other side, it'a a boot anyway -
Mike, a bit off topic but I saw an advert you placed in Black Music, think it was August 1975, came across it the other night!

You are spot on Paul, most people know who does those R & B presses, same person(s) who did all the psych and freakbeat ones, and they are pressed in Eastern Europe. Most people also know where the majority of UK Northern Soul bootlegs come from. I'm as bad as them, I buy some of them. -
Well you pays your money and takes your chances...
-
Didn't know that Dave, can only go by what I remember and Wigan tapes - the first play I have of it at Wigan is via Keith Minshull 1979 or 1980. I honestly don't think I ever heard it until the 80's. Sheltered life :-)
-
Right well I've got all of those except Candi Staton, do you think if I list them someone might take the bait - I love my records but blimey, I rate those at £10, £30, £30, £15 and £30
-
Jesus Steve, what were they???
-
I've got more or less every decent pressing. I'd love to get that sort of money for them but they are my beloved collection, some of them I've had most of my life, the Frankie Crockers, Yvonne Bakers, yes Salvadors etc. I also don't believe the hype, there's something not quite right going on. How come I can list an identical pressing for £15 yet it go for £75 on ebay? I'll carry on selling them at sensible prices to people on my list and on here, the f*ckwits can buy them at four times the price on ebay!

No, I made it up. Actually I've lost count of the amount of records I've seen with damage from plastic sleeves, probably depends what sort of plastic it is.

Where's that come from, anyone?
