  1. I'm still collecting reggae, ska and rocksteady mainly 1964 to 1970, UK labels, so if anyone has anything to sell or swap, could they let me know and I will buy, or you can take Northern off me in trades. Don't need the common Israelites, 007, Double Barrel things. cheers pete
  2. Geoff, you were right about the Lenny Welch version, that's on Kapp and is excellent - but I don't think there was any Jimmy Radcliffe involvement in this song, I might be wrong
  3. I was thinking more along the lines of major artists Ady. Paying £15 for yet another remastered version of Diamond Dogs or Aladdin Sane which I've already bought twice on cd for extra tracks and 'digital remasters', bought on vinyl when it came out etc. The Kent CD booklets are worth the price of the cd on their own.
  4. I always found that when I bought a cd and there was a straight from the master stereo version of something I'd heard for years in mono, I'd have preferred it to be dubbed off the original record. I realise I might be on my own here but as far as 60's Northern Soul records go, nothing beats the original vinyl, especially cleaned up hear a pin drop master tapes. The magic is lost.
  5. If I were in the business, I'd fear more for cd's than vinyl. I spent thousands of pounds on a cd collection then realised I never actually played them, and I'd just used them to put tracks into itunes. So I started selling them, and anything I wanted on cd, well basically it's three clicks on a computer for a free copy isn't it. So I have not bought a cd for about 8 years now (except for some £2.99 compilations from Sainsburys). After years of paying £15 for a silver disc...people decided they weren't mugs after all. A few years ago I predicted that in 20 years time there would be no such thing as cd's, maybe their decline will be more rapid than that.
  6. Great record - I used to play this as a kid via my Moms copy of Billy Fury's version!
  7. Why not just say oh right what can I do to help Don instead of closing your thread? What does you've had a while mean, is the product only guaranteed for 2 days or somrthing? I've only switched the deck on a couple of times since I received the cartridge and each time the stylus has dug into the groove and the vinyl has literally changed colour, you can see it doing so as it goes along, as if it's made for a wider groove. Never mind. Obviously my fault.
  8. Tells you exactly who it is in a post above...
  9. Have to say I paid more for Kell Osbourne 12 years ago than this rare issue went for, that's pretty cheap and the issue really is hard to find.
  10. Tremendous record that, I had it on an old Pye Golden Guinea LP, some kind of Blues compilation I think
  11. Spooners Crowd mate, Two In The Morning
  12. set sale prices: Mitch Ryder £150 Adventurers £200 Tommy Bush £400 Garnet Mimms £20
  13. I buy one, I say I'm having problems with it digging the vinyl up (it also makes the records sound twice as crackly), instead of suggesting a solution, the seller says he's never had a problem himself and locks the thread so that I can't respond. That's rubbish customer service for £25 Don.
  14. Shall I start charging people for getting the record to them within 24 hours in return
  15. As far as credit cards go, I've just had to return my machine last month - I had over £30 in standing charges but made no sales on it - everyone wants to use paypal and it's pointless me keeping the machine just for the two people who still pay by card. I agree, it's crazy to send someone you don't know money with no guarantees.
  16. Having to go to the bank, buy dollars, conceal them in an envelope, hope and pray it got there....or having to send by Western Union money transfer with no guarantee that you'd hear anything back
  17. Pretty outrageous statement there Chris. If the account is in credit there is no charge to buyer or seller. I never ask for friends and family, people just do it because they know they can trust me, they'll get their record, and if they don't, they'll get their money back. Thousands of transactions, you find me one person who didn't get their item from me. My customers are extremely important to me as they pay for the food I eat, they are fully covered - by me!
  18. I just sell old pressings sometimes - 30, 40 years old. If I was actually making them and selling them then yes, that wouldn't be acceptable.
  19. If you can switch the macro button on, on the camera, then you can get really good in focus close ups
  20. Well I'm happy for him too but I'd never personally buy an acetate of two tracks that came out, if not alt versions.
  21. Harthon production though isn't it
  22. No I mean it looks like it's stuck on top of another one, I know they don't have moulded labels!
  23. I didn't get on too well with the one I bought, you can see it actually changing the colour of the vinyl when it plays anything as if it's like digging it up. I've put the old one back on now!
  24. two topics the same on the go
