  1. Have added the labels for those who like to know those things..
  2. Thats original Russ. Same as mine which is 100% original.
  3. Pleasant enough, sounds early 80's to me, but where on earth did you pull a figure of $2000 buy it now from? Honestly, I'm not trying to be funny.
  4. There's definitely a demo of Golden Apples Of The Sun, it's rare though, so is the issue - I'd have thought £75. There may be a demo on Decca too as it was withdrawn from that label, might just be a rumour though.

  6. Do you want to buy an original?
  7. All the Ron Holden boots were pressed at Monarch, the first one had red text, if the delta number begins with 90 or 100 then it's a boot
  8. Do you know for definite that it didn't get to a finished pressing? It might have been released. You ought to put a clip up see if anyone on here knows it.
  9. Probably one of mine which says "Reissues, 2nd issues, pressings, boots, call them what you will". I've got no qualms whatsoever about selling bootlegs from the heydey of NS, neither have the people who buy them. back in 1976-78 it was all that a lot of people could afford and the only way to get the records. That might be the case even more nowadays with some originals being hundreds even thousands of pounds, anyone getting in a tizzy about someone selling these type of things needs to get a life. And if anyone thinks I'm going to go through 200 of these items and try to find out which ones were legitmitely repressed 35 years ago is having a laugh.
  10. Ady I know of one website - Belgian based rocabilly/rock & roll blog - which has almost the entire Ace records catalogue on there to download for free. The idea apparently is that you evaluate the music, delete it and buy the original. Once you start to find your way around blog sites you find that almost every cd ever released by anyone is up there. I know another site which hads the entire trojan catalogue available, again, free download.
  11. It's called The Rockerfeller Skank.
  12. It's already been touched on but the reason Kent does survive is the quality of the product. I've almost stopped buying cd's now but I still buy these because apart from the fact that the music is going to be top-notch, I know I'm going to be able to sit down with a drink and read about the artists, the music and the history while listening. This is actually important to me and if they weren't packaged like that I don't think I would bother. Where the Goldmine etc let themselves down was that the booklets always looked hurried and one line about a record didn't suffice. I've said it before but the distribution needs to be looked at again because the large HMV stores around here (Wolverhampton, merry Hill, telford) carry very little Ace product, if they stocked them, I'd buy more.
  13. I think that may be an exagerration, some weeks I struggle to sell 200 to 500 quids worth of good quality vinyl, so someone would have to sell an awful lot of cd's.
  14. Easy, some people dom't like squeaky voiced falsetto singers, simple as that! You love it, that's fine, I can't find anything in that takes it above very average and if I never heard it again it wouldn't upset me. It's called personal choice and we're all allowed one.
  15. Ray the last lot were tremendous. In fact I opened a topic in tribute to you in Look At Your Box, I hope you saw it
  16. Yeah you're right, nowadays, no impact, but when the boom was in full swing 1999-2002 I can see how it would have annoyed the labels. Digital music changed everything really, I do buy cd's now and again but they are mainly ones I know will have a decent booklet with them like Ace, if there's an album out I'll only usually want one track off it so I just go and find it on the net and download it. You can find just about anything nowadays and you can find it for free 99% of the time so I don't know how the record companies, even the majors, make any money at all.
  17. yes but by giving the tracks away that means it's pointless the record companies licensing the track at their expense, what would rather do, be given a cd for nothing or pay 12 quid for one to get the same track? The free cd's stop the companies releasing product.
  18. I hope the craze for wearing hats spreads over to the UK, I've had one for a couple of years but never worn it!
  19. I have just been alerted to a major auction of DJ Mike Read's record collection - happening in Chiswick next Wednesday by a local auction house. Here's the link to the (complete?) list of what's going, in case any of you want to bid - which I guess can be done online or by email. It's a major curate's egg with loads of rubbish lots including one or two gems and some mahoir rarities. Have fun if it takes your fancy, and here's the link https://www.chiswickauctions.co.uk/index.php/mike-read-sale/mike-read-sale-%e2%80%93%c2%a0long-version/ David Hughes www.collectorsvinyl.co.uk

  23. I've got the single on a list today for 8 quid
  24. Just buy the repress! For instance - if you were to buy an original "blank", it's just a white label. Remove the label from your repro and hey, instant blank! The only difference is the matrix number and half the time they can't be read anyway.
  25. I don't understand that comment but what I mean is apart from the usual Torch/Wigan/Wheel etc compilations they'll do a series of Forgotten Floorshakers, a Ritz comp, a "did they really play that?" series, records discovered by a particular DJ etc - just a different angle thats all.
