  1. SENT TO ME BY IAN LEVINE AND ASKED IF I WOULD POST IT As I'm banned, and somebody asked this on All About The Soul, I'd like someone to answer his post as soon as possible please, with a list of who has died. NORTHERN SOUL'S 200 GREATEST FLOORFILLERS Was bought this 5 DVD set for Xmas. Wouldn't have bought it myself I think, but have really enjoyed seeing many of the original artists in the flesh so to speak. I've read all the debate previously about the musical quality, validity etc but this does not bother me, I accept it for what it is, a tribute to and record of the artists we knew as black and white photos only for so long. I also accept the new material as valid in it's own right without necessarily being what I would go out and buy. However, I don't mind admitting that I got goosepimples just thinking of the buzz that the artists must have got from knowing their records were appreciated and that there was an opportunity to capture it for posterity. Anyway I believe that much of it was filmed some time ago and many of the artists have since died. What I want to know from the experts on here is: 1. Who has passed away since ? I know of Popcorn Wylie, Earl van Dyke, Bobby Sheen, Bobby Paris, Bob Relf ?, Edwin Starr, ? 2. Are there any stories around the finding of these artists and the filming of same, I guess there's been a thread at sometime ? (Not one debating the musical merits) By the way it's only about £10 on Amazon which I feel is a steal for 5 DVDs ! Andy It was filmed in 1998 and 1999, most of it twelve years ago. The following have died since ERMA FRANKLIN Two of THE ARTISTICS WILLIE HUTCH TOMMY RIDGLEY JOHNNY MOORE JOHNNY CARTER from THE DELLS JOE STUBBS Two of THE LOVETONES SAM WARD Two of THE CARSTAIRS SAUNDRA EDWARDS DORIS TROY Lead singer of THE VOLCANOS EDWIN STARR EARL VAN DYKE BOBBY SHEEN One of THE DRAMATICS RICHARD POPCORN WYLIE C.P. SPENCER Two of THE ROYAL JOKERS Lead singer of THE OLYMPICS JAMES FOUNTAIN FREDDY BUTLER BOB RELF Lead singer of THE TYMES RAY POLLARD WILLIE KENDRICK JACKIE DAY Two of THE FOUR LARKS ALL THREE OF THE TEMPOS LITTLE ANN EMANUEL LASKY Whoever gets this first, please do reply.
  2. I think it's a british artist and probably an LP track.
  3. Bluesology (Eltons group) backed loads of US singers and bands when they visited the UK, they probably lost count of how many...Wikipedia mentions Major Lance, Doris Troy, Isley brothers, Patty Labelle. Are they soulful enough?
  4. I think Neil Rushton and Ian Levine might have produced this (if they didn't, I apologise) so they'll definitely have an accapella
  5. Never heard of it but can't see it myself - it really being Diana Ross I mean - Pat lewis did it though I think
  6. Trouble is it looks yellow and black, and the first boot was yellow and black...
  7. Just tried to bid on an auction and it says I'm blocked from bidding on his auctions but I don't even know who he is and can't remember having dealt with him...very odd
  8. I think Soul Power is currently showing on Sky Anytime.
  9. Ted I think I have actually had the white demo because I'm sure Tim Brown listed it as being very rare and I found I'd actually got one...though of course I may be wrong
  10. That Natural Four is an original...
  11. The only time we have ever 'fell out' is when Gary Belcher shit stirred and told you something I was supposed to have said which I never did say. It was unforgiveable what he did and that, and why he did it only he knows.
  12. Thank you Paul, I am very touched by that and also sick about the fact that I bet I sold you Lenny Curtis at the Vic for either £5 or £10. And that major harris, fancy you ending up with that, it cost me £18 or £22 off Soul Sam one monday night at the Lafayette. Tommy Bush I had four or five of but never remember having George Kirby. I also think there may be 2 or 3 more photos from the same 'session' as the one above, I'll see if I can get my hands on them. Happy new year to you both
  13. It doesn't read like that Gilly, honestly, because you used the word 'you' which I automatically thought referred to me. Sorry for misunderstanding but it does look like that and I couldn't understand why. And I haven't even got a hangover.
  14. I don't understand this post at all. Someone asks me to put money in on their behalf, so I do, yet they never send it, so I put in my own contribution, and someone else's, and you think I shouldn't try to get it back off the person who promised it in the first place? And by complaining about it you think I'm trying to boost my own popularity? Are you mad? If you lent me £100 and I then said I wasn't going to pay you back, would you be happy about that? Or when you say YOU do you mean someone else or do you mean me?
  15. Thats almost £375, I don't think you'll get it, I've never heard of a copy selling for that much - I hope you do, I just don't think you will with the exchange rate being what it is and it not grading mint. And I'm not trying to f*ck up your sale, I'd bloody love this record!
  16. To continue this amazing theme; I mentioned above I'd been let down a bit by people I'd been promised money from so I put it in out of my own pocket but as yet haven't received anything (this does not include people who've already been in touch with me) anyway Mac from derby insisted I accept £100 in lieu of these people not paying me, how kind is that??? refusing it didn't help either. So thanks mate and safe journey back home eventually.
  17. I'd love the money, but I've got my two kids and that's been like winning the lottery for me
  18. Will do Rich, thank you.
  19. We've all changed our minds, we want the money back!
  20. OK listen to this, lwet me just tell you about my luck shall I? I've just been to Sainsburys to do the shopping for the next few days, filled the trolley up with not only food and drink but a DS game for Sam, anyway it came to something like £88, except my card got refused and I had to put the f*cking lot back. When I got back home just now I've been on to Barclays and they said they thought there may have been a security problem because of the fact £2600 was withdrawn from it this morning. That's the last time I help anyone on here!
  21. I'll reduce the Patty Charles to 100 if anyone wants it
  22. kEV GIVE ME 5 MINS AND THEY WILL BE IN REFOSOUL
