Great stuff. Books at 75. LUTHER INGRAM – EXUS TREK / IF IT’S ALL THE SAME TO YOU BABE – HIB VG+ 185 SOLD This is the extremely rare light green press which books at £500 (uk) in the latest manship price guide. It's pressed on vinyl, not styrene so there's no hiss for a start. As you can see by the photos, https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110486067852&ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT it has some water damage on the label. The white mark on the vocal side is some sticker residue which will come off. Condition wise, this is one of those 'miracle' records which appears to have lived it's life without a sleeve, is well marked, but plays beautifully. Visually it's glossy but has many marks and it's visual grade is vg. But play it and you are in for a surprise, both sides play "ex", in fact the sound quality on exus trek is better than any of the bootlegs, mint or not. 3. Theres one on here in VG+ for £225, I've got the same record in Mint and I wasn't sure whether to ask £150 or £175! Oh, and a record I sell for £20 and have done a dozen times, usually for less, is on here at £100.
  4. It's just that my favourite films are British films, especially ones set in the 60's and 70's. Anything that can recreate that period I'll watch whether it's any good or not. I mean, has anyone ever seen Velvet Goldmine and enjoyed it?
  5. I know, but I'm not allowed to, was just hoping it might make people look twice thats all.
  6. Looks alright to me, a film with Northern Soul as it's "backdrop", looking forward to it.
  7. The overcharging for records by some sellers on here.
  8. yes you're right, 25 or less, the other copies on the market were given to A & M staff in retirment packages etc.
  9. Dunno - but I cleaned an Okeh styrene 45 and it was fine
  10. I sniffed about a gallon of it yesterday and it did f*ck all...
  11. Interestingly, the Shirley Lawson boot isn't aimed at the Northern scene; it's part of a batch of r&b boots/lookalikes but I don't really know who they are aimed at. The people behind it are the same ones who did all the UK label psych and freakbeat repros about 4 years ago and are not on the Northern scene.
  12. I sold a cracked Mr Lucky for an undisclosed amount but it was four figures.
  13. Booted twice; styrene demo, like the Skullsnaps pressing; and a vinyl one with a bluey/white label. May even be a third one in dark blue, styrene.
  14. It's from Maplins - I think it's used for electrical stuff, transistors maybe - not sure to be honest - but it does work, especially qwhen the dirt has been ground in and it makes that kind of 'swoosh' noise, it gets that out.
  15. Dave, I used to be able to do any EMI label, coated it in silver cleaner, then rotated it over the steam from a boiling kettle, if you get the rotation right you can make any record look mint. Stupidly, I tried it on my Chapter 5 which is made from a different kind of vinyl and it went all patchy..
  16. I've got it if you get stuck. Think it's got the Atlantic story on the same disc.
  17. Send me £5 and I'll tell you what it is! No really, thanks to my friend Martyn for putting me on to this. SERVISOL FOAM CLEANSER 30. 400ml aerosol can, £4.70 from maplins. Shake it, squirt it, rub it in, play the record, you won't believe the crap that comes out of the grooves, and when it's finished, wipe it with a cloth and gives it a fabulous shine too. I cleaned a jackie Ross (Brunswick) just now which was in pretty decent vg++ nick, I had to stop it 4 times because the stylus was clogged up with dirt. Fantastic stuff, try it, even lightens dirt on the labels by the looks of it.
  18. The only demos are UK ones from the 70's
  19. I have a cracked Pat lewis - No one to love (solid hit) here at the moment
  20. I did, before posting. Well I listened to mel Williams, I've heard the other one enough times to know it.
  21. Well unlike many people in the sales section, your prices are actually very good and had I been able to make a profit on anything I'd have had several of them. You've just got to be lucky with the stuff you select to sell. last week I sold around 1200 quids worth of records that had not sold when I listed them first time round, I dropped the prices by ten or twenty quid each and they flew out (not that they were overpriced in the first place). yet this week I've barely sold £400 worth. Obviously some people would think that's an awful lot of money to earn in a week, but they probably cost me £300 to start!
  22. Sorry Jock not trying to hijack your thread but that fact about Delilah kenniebrew - I've had half a dozen copies and never once have I noticed any similarity between it and Mel Williams, I don't think it is the same backing and if it is, it's half the speed of DK.
  23. That LP got me in so much trouble, in 1972 I only got 25p pocket money a week (I was 12) and this one day my mum hadn't got any change so she gave me a fiver under strict instructions that I only spend my 25p allowance. I saw this lp in Goulds, it was 2.99 and I spent half an hour wondering what I should do, in the end I went and bought it, and of course didn't get any more pocket money until I'd paid back the money, but it's been with me ever since, I think I know the sleeve notes off by heart and it's where I heard some of my all time favourite tracks (rock steady, way of life, perfidia, great wuga wuga etc). The original LP's were all dubbed from vinyl, from one guy's collection, so even the original isn't that great sound quality wise. But it's one of my 'milestone' lp's this.
