How To Tell If A 45 Is A Bootleg?
There's no bootleg of this Joey, you're safe. Things like Stoned Love sold millions of copies so are all going to be cheap originals. Unless you buy a proper reissue of course. Just ask on here, someone will always help you out. Don't need to see a picture, just describe it and say whats in the run out grooves.

BUT...and this is something worth pondering over - if I walked in with the same box but it contained PRESSINGS of those four records, I'd be accused of being a div

Where Are All The Bootlegs/reissues Coming From
If people are going to complain about the R & B 45's, then the same people should complain about all the Motown, Elvis, various record label compilations that come out every week - all out of copyright in the UK so I guess anyone can release them.

Agreed

John I actually thought it was the opposite, I thought they did repress it for the UK specifically...that was the general consensus back then, they'd heard it was popular so repressed it...I am talking about 39 years ago though and we weren't as well informed as we are now!

Al Williams.....i Am Nothing
I agree with you. It's really good but it's not great. Badly produced because the vocalist isn't loud enough in the mix. I'm not slagging it off, before anyone starts, just saying there are hundreds and hundreds of better records out there. It's not even the best on the label...

Perfect time to cut and paste a post I made in the bootlegs thread There are countless people over the last 15 years who are only dj-ing at venues because basically they are rich and have bought themselves into the game, they think because they have the records, they are entitled to get top billing. It's not as simple as that. If I won the lottery and spent it all on the worlds rarest Northern sounds, I can guarantee you I would soon be getting top dj spots, makes no difference if I couldn't actually put a spot together, come on people admit it, we all know dj's like this...and am not getting at anyone on here or anywhere else in particular, but it is a known fact that you can buy yourself into this game...so if you have integrity and are at the forefront of discovering new sounds, you can still be caught up by the rich boys who never got off their sofa to obtain a record. If you were a promoter and I came up to you with a box which contained Gwen Owens, Eddie Parker, Al Williams and Mello Souls, I bet you'd give me a spot..because with those records, I MUST know what I'm doing

Why Don't The Post Office Understand What 'fragile' Means
What beats me is how I can post something recorded delivery here, 2 weeks ago, and according to their website, they received it here for delivery, 2 weeks ago, but haven't got a f*cking clue where it is now..

Show Us Your Great Photos - Pt2
Not a great photo by any means but... You might not be able to see this very well but on the footpath in the middle of the picture is a Partridge who lives in our cul de sac, he thinks he is a pigeon and has been hanging around with other pigeons since last summer, anyway it looks like they've kicked him out of their pigeon gang now and he's gone solo - I see this guy every day and have nearly got him to come to get food...just thought it was a bit unusual!

Please Identify Title & Artist
Is that definitely the title? Fugitive Song? I can hear it's certainly Jo Jo Bennett but can't get a listen to any title.

No I'm not going to disagree with you am just saying that there were definitely two 'versions' of the same lp back then. We were surprised even back then when it mentioned "the hit single" as everyone knew it was played from the LP.

Sorry but this is incorrect. The record went big in 1975. The albums were easy to obtain. In 1976 the albums with the fake sticker on the front were available as imports, they were identical to the 'first pressings' apart from the cover. Then it just faded away and as you say, was counterfeited in the late 80's. But there are two pressings from the 70's.

Correct in my opinion Dave, it was as if it was never unavailable. Someone repressed them for the Northern scene.
