  1. Everywhere!
  2. heard this track just now via my itunes and I thought blimey, that's good, but I'm sure I know this, turns out not only do I know it but I've got it - and I've already posted it up here. I think it sounds even better than when I first posted it...you may disagree, but I think it needs to be discovered! /more/soul-library/bobby-john-shadows-of-love-imperial
  3. Don't get the comparison, Down Town is not a Northern record, You baby is. Anyway, you should have said Petula Clark's "I know a place" which has a fantastic Northern backing track.
  4. You are spot on mate. About 50% of people started going to the oldies only. The saturdays after the oldies were always terrible. n.b. I wrote that without reading the above post. Sometimes there were less than 400 people in.
  5. It's a great Northern Soul record Dave. The others you mention are rubbish.
  6. You just said exactly what I was going to say. People who put restrictions on what records can and can't be played should be shouted down in my opinion. The scene was built on records like "You're Ready Now" which is white but 1000% northern soul. I wish it was still more about the sound than the colour of the singers skin, this po-faced attitude has made the northern scene a lot less enjoyable than it used to be.
  7. Yes come on roll up, you all know this is a £150 super-rarity, where's those bids? (has my £35 been outbid yet Ezzie?) I'd love to win it just so I can relist it at it's proper price!
  8. Clutching at straws
  9. indeed
  10. I think I probably do also - but it's interesting stuff.
  11. No it's from 1967 mate. Honest.
  12. What about this blank one then...scrummy!
  13. Same here - £30 usually. Though it's probably gone to a psych or garage collector, I know it's been compiled, I downloaded a massive batch of psych & garage stuff and it was on there (along with the bands home town which I now forget, sorry)
  14. Patience Valentine. Rufus Lumley. Barry Barefoot Beefus Lukas Lollipop take your pick!
  15. I've made it slightly big just in case you can read the deadwax markings
  16. But the ebay photo of the stereo one is darker than in real life! Let me see if I can scan it.
  17. Right, so what we are saying now is, that all of the lighter blue ones are represses - yes?
  18. Anyway, being an expert in these sort of things (ahem) I've come to the conclusion that it is in fact a previously unacknowledged repress for the simple fact that the vinyl is pitted. Thank you.
  19. So, is Roger's left-hand scan a repress because it's identical to that one!
  20. Just to reiterate, the one I'm talking about is the light blue one, the photo looks darker but it is light blue.
  21. Yes but it also looks identical to the original Sean, how is that different from the original Roger posted up?
  22. As you can see, I won this for £11, I generally sell it for £25/£30, I had someone offer me some records last week and when I told him what I sell it for he basically called me a liar and 'knew' that it was £75 on 'top' dealers sites.
  23. Are you sure, I thought she was a member of the famous Von Trapp family who recorded some cool stuff in Austria many years ago...
  24. Don't have a camera handy, missus took it darn sarf, but here is a link to the ebay listing where I got it from, that does feature a scan of the actual record https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220549215119&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT
