  1. Sweet memories was the first release, it came out a few years later with different cover etc. I think there's only the two versions of I Surrender, the proper one and the slower outake one.
  2. Calm down everyone. Steve, you say you have an original of the Sidney Barnes - I don't know what that is, Stronger Than her Love inst, or Hurt On The other Side inst? I don't believe there are ANY originals of those, they are both off master tapes and in the case of the first one, was put on acetate as it was about to be released by Destiny. You could have had either or both of them off me on an acetate 20 years ago. Or tomorrow if you like
  3. Yeah it's Lewis Rich on Parlophone. I think Dusty did a nice version too, plus I used to play the Jerry Butler vesrion off a pristine Sue copy, I wonder what happened to it. Lewis Rich version is a real pub singer special unfortunately.
  4. Life - Cat's Eyes - Philips. I remember this being played at the Wulfrun in 1976 and you could barely find a space on the floor to dance.
  5. No you got it right, but I have to say I've never heard of that in my entire life. I did have his original version of "stop and you'll become aware" but it's half the speed of Helen's version and is crap.
  6. The single is definitely cut down from the album, 100% definite, you only have to listen to the last 30 seconds, they are one and the same.
  7. I'll send you a recording of it, cut yourself a copy for £20.
  8. BLACK EYED PEAS - SMALLEST MAN ALIVE - ULTRA CITY MINT COPY £75 including registered postage pm or email pete.smith@freeuk.com
  9. Barry St John - no such track on decca, might have been a cover up or the 'other' Columbia single. Escape From Cuba is by The High & The Mighty who are in fact, The reflections. Twiggy is Beautiful Dreams. brilliant track.
  10. Rich, chill out, ignore these heathens, let them keep their crappy, scratchy records why we vinyl-boilers have smart, shiny, new-looking 45's.
  11. I thought it was great but I've always said I like these sort of records yet get branded as someone who hates all 70's, which is totally untrue. I would buy this!
  12. It's funny you tipping this Paul knowing your hatred of all that's retro because having heard it for the first time today, this is exactly the sort of record that was being pioneered by Cleethorpes from 1975 to 77, sound wise - fast, funky but northern. I loved most of those records, and I really like this too, but to me it's just a reactivation of that Prince George/Rufus Wood type sound. Which is a good thing I may add.
  13. Why, it's interesting.
  14. Unfortunately I can't get it to play, is it the one where they are interviewed first then do the song? She's wearing like black leather or something?
  15. No, didn't really know about them to be honest
  16. No nothing like it, plain white label with Penny at the top, black print. Honest.
  17. Posted it up on that Casino 2nd anniversary tape a while back.
  18. No, white label, Penny, nothing like the original design
  19. There's an R&B thing on Amy or mala, 63-ish, sorry can't remember the artist though
  20. It will work Steve. I used to do it using the steam from a boiling kettle. Dave K says it works if you pour boiled water (left for 40 seconds) over a 45. Note that I only refer to british records pressed by EMI (liberty, ua, stateside etc) I once tried it with Anthony & The Aqualads (found in a shop in Eastbourne!) and it made the vinyl look terrible

  22. No, I think it has to be a joke. At the extreme end of the scale it might be £150, but you'd have to be either very rich or completely mental to pay more than that for it.
