Well well well, Soul Source may well have banned Levine but they certainly haven't shut him up, the stuff on his facebook page about this thread is hysterical. Paul-S's ears must be burning /index.php?app=forums&module=post§ion=post&do=reply_post&f=1&t=113090

are you referring to "Out on the floor"? The TV play set in an allnighter that resembled a certain Lancashire venue? That was from 1981 or even 1982. And it was terrible, apart from the (Graopevine) soundtrack, but it wasn't meant to be about "The Northern Soul Scene", that was just the backdrop to this pretty pathetic tale about these kids who worked in factories all week then popped pills at this allnighter on a saturday. There was also a rape scene (set in the venue), girls dancing in a line, and someone OD'ing. Total crap.
-
I had heard of Northern Soul and had been "into it" properly for about 8 months by then, seeing the dancers and Footsee on TOTP was actually earth-shattering stuff, I can't tell you the amount of people who jumped onto the bandwagon after that, it was one of the most exciting things I;'d ever seen as well.

What's the big deal with this track, it's total utter f*cking crap, it's got nothing at all - my God I've had hundreds of UK pop Northern records but this one has no redeeming features whatsoever and it's by Craig Douglas for f*cks sake, that should put you off right from the start. p.s. would anyone like to buy my copy for £100? Blue issue.

I used to watch Quadrophenia every Friday night, I could still watch it every friday night. I was never a Mod but if I'd been born ten years earlier I would have been. Utterly brilliant film.

I don't know why I put that. We didn't have a coke. I don't even know what I meant to write there.
-
She'd need a few free weeks to wade through that lot!

I personally wasn't out to break this chaps balls or whatever the expression is, I was just interested in the public domain comment at the end, if he wants to sell stuff it's up to him. Don't know if he would be prepared to explain about the public domain stuff as he is a member on Soul Source anyway.

I sold mine for 250 or 300 back in must be 2001 or 2002.

At some point in the mid 90's, I got asked if I'd give someone dancing lessons (I used to be a good dancer, now I can barely walk) anyway I reluctantly agreed and we set a fee of £20 for an hours lessons. Anyway this chap came down from London to St leonards just to do this, after a fairly embarrassing start (my neighbour Nancy rang twice asking "You dancing?") we made a bit of progress and by the end he could do the basic side to side dance steps. Anyway we had a coke and I said, erm, can we settle up now and he says oh yeah sure, I'll just go and get myt wallet, it's in the car. I watched out of the window as he got to his car, opened the door, got in and drove off back to London, leaving me both knackered and £20 short. The c*nt.

On your foot hopefully

I'd pay £150 for it now. That's it.

OK I'm not great with names or memory, from the left, standing, Alan ?, Jessica Wecker, don't know the name of the lad kneeling at the front, then Jo Wallace, I'm in front of her, then comes Alex, next to her, damn forgot his name, used to take photos all the time, worked for the police... behind him, Pete, chap with his arm round Pete is Gary from Rotherham, next to him Gary Marnie, then Andy Humberston, the girl below Gary is or was his missus I think and the chap with the tache next to her is Gary Marnie's mate from Scotland. Next to Andy H you can just about see Karen F, then Mick Fitzpatrick, Martin Thomson and the guy with the beard is "Maxwell Murray". Kneeling in front of Mick is Paul TP. THink the lad next to him was local. I may be wrong with several of these!

Give me 10 minutes, I can't remember if this is the first or second year we did it, Pete & Alex from Australia are on this one and I think Karen Fisher came over from the States for it too

I just thought public domain music was stuff issued over 50 years ago, that's all...

Correct! Great Northern Soul record.
-
Don't think I ever said it hadn't got soul, I just said it was shit.
-
No, Mick Fitzpatrick ran the Night Owl site and was heavily involved in KTF. It was via Night Owl that the good majority of people got back into Northern Soul in the late 90's/early 2000's. Type in Northern Soul and that's where it would take you first.
-
He was on KTF, shame but can't remember his real name, met him a couple of times, last was at the KTF do in Llandudno in fact he's on that big photo of a crowd of us which I may have posted up. The book is FANTASTIC but the ending is really poor, in fact I thought someone had removed the last page of my copy.

What the band that were original managed by the "ace face", dressed as mods, played mod music to an audience of mods, wrote a rock opera and a film about mods etc etc...obviously nothing to do with mods at all.
