  1. If you don't listen to the podcasts or download them, then this won't concern you and you can bin it immediately. I know a lot of people are enjoying the podcasts but it's starting to cost me quite a bit to keep providing them. Because so many people download them, I've had to raise the traffic limit from 50gig to 100gig today, this means that it costs me 20 quid a month to produce the podcasts and get them up on itunes or make them available to download, and obviously over a year, that's 240 quid. So basically, I'm paying the listeners to download the music because I make nothing from these whatsoever. Therefore, and I'm only going to ask this once, if anyone who downloads them and/or listens to them would like to donate anything, it would be very much appreciated. YOU DON'T HAVE TO - I'LL CARRY ON DOING THEM for the 12 months anyway, but it would help. A quid, two quid, a fiver, I don't care, is a 70 minute download worth a quid? It'll just pay to keep them going that's all. If you want to contribute anything, please paypal as a gift if possible to pete.smith@freeuk.com I will produce at least one podcast every week without fail, usually it's two or three. I'll keep providing the cream of reggae and Northern Soul and use as many unissued and rare tracks as I can. I repeat, you don't have to do anything at all and you are totally welcome to keep downloading as many as you want to, but if you enjoy them, or have enjoyed them and think you can spare anything at all I will put it towards the running costs. On the other hand, you can just tell me to f*ck off. Cheers, Pete
  2. Well I've found a few on the net and they state they are authentic, I remain sceptical just because it wasn't released as a 45 anywhere else so why release it South Africa two years after it's US release?
  3. And that sleeve is late 50's or very early 60's
  4. But thats not even the correct year it was released!
  5. They asll had tri centres though - I still maintain this is a 70's release - Tony Rounce will now
  6. I've gone and paid the extra - now they are all available for download again.
  7. But how do I link all that in with itunes? You mean I use the space to store the podcasts, I can do that, but it's what follows that I struggle with!
  8. I think what it is, is that I am only allowed 50gig of 'traffic' and I've gone over that You are currently using 2.3 GB of your 10 GB media file storage. You have used 50.2 GB of your 50 GB traffic this month. so basically it means too many people have listened to them (WTF?) and they've now frozen it til the end of the month unless I cough up more money, but as I make nothing off these anyway I can't see the point in paying more, I now pay $19 a month, it goes up to $39 a month though I could publish double the amount and have double the amount of traffic. But that would be 200 quid a year.
  9. Cheers benji, That's a fantastic track isn't it, using that mariachi sample, John Barry I think it is...
  10. Cheers Mossy and Russ. With the Jamaican ones, I just want more people to hear the music so I always try to put the very best and most interesting stuff on those. The soul ones, because I don't DJ anymore, those are the type of record I would play if I was djing. Just out of interest, I got the download figures for all of the podcasts and the top 5 are all Northern: 1 Northern Soul oldies mix (322 downloads!) 2 Sounds of Cleethorpes 75/76 3 $30,000 worth of NS 4 Northern Soul prescription 5 Northern Soul Session (174 downloads) the reggae ones tend to all have download numbers of 120 to 150 per podcast
  11. It's not a 60's issue, it's 70's, same as all the others (except the HI LP and mini LP), was discussed here a very long time ago but it did turn out to be 70's.

By all means have an opinion but don't expect me to give a f*ck about your opinion because it's mine that counts, not yours. I don't mean you personally Steve. Oh alright then, yes I do
  13. No need to wash my ears out, I've got more of this type of music than you could shake a shitty stick at - thousands of tracks of 70's reggae - and guess what, they all sound the same. The 60's had the urgency of ska, the soulfulness of rocksteady and the energy of the new reggae, 70's onwards the music goes all rootsy and boring. I'm afraid I can't relate to jah rastafari, babylon and smoking weed. Same as soul music, that used to be good, same scenario, sounds change, styles change, you either like it or you don't. The CD you recommended would last about 5 minutes, like they all do.
  14. So nobody's got any idea about this one then?

He answered exactly the same as I did so that makes two of us who don't understand the thread then. You're asking if you should play a UK release of a US record. A thread thats been done about 4000 times already.

That's as maybe, but I don't go around telling people what they can or can't play.

The problem I've got with this topic is not whether Mike plays his Johnny Hamilton 45 or not, but that he has to seek some sort of permission to do so from a bunch of f*ckwits on an internet site who think they make up all the rules.

Why, do you think you might be arrested if it's on the wrong label or something? I'd play it if it was on Pye Disco Demand.

  21. Mick Smith sold his Willie mae Thornton - Tom Cat - UK Sue - for £770 last night. Jeez! I would have thought the previous highest price for a UK Sue would have been Mr Dynamite which I think went for £400. Who'd have thought it. Then again, I've never seen a copy of the record in question and Mick's was out of his own collection
  22. Shame the music's rubbish...
