  1. This has been downloaded 45 times in the first 90 minutes since I posted it up, now if all of these people could just spare me one pound each, next months hosting would be paid for.....
  2. A NIGHT AT WIGAN CASINO (September 1974) *** https://podcastmachine.com/podcasts/4425/episodes/27086 This is for everyone who asked me to put some live recordings up, I used to do a tape most times that I went to Wigan but probably only 30 of them survived. This is one that I didnt do, it was recorded by Alan Davidson before I actually attended in early 76 and it comes from 1974 (I myself dated it to September 74 around the time of the 1st anniversary). I chose this recording because the fabled Wigan clapping has never sounded better and for those of you who never went to the Casino, this recording should hopefully play a big part in explaining the magic of the place, its simply my favourite Wigan tape of all time I think. The DJs are Russ Winstanley and Richard Searling, the quality is lo-fi, recorded from the left hand balcony on a hand held battery operated cassette recorder, but the experience is priceless (this recording of Tainted Love often has me in tears)! +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Tobi Legend Time Will Pass You By / Carmel Strings I Hear A Symphony / High Keyes Living A Lie / Detroit Soul All Of My Life / Mirwood Strings Dont Pretend / Michael & Raymond Man Without A Woman / Mirwood Strings Superdance / Smokey & The Blades -0 Jerk Baby Jerk / The Javells Goodbye Nothing To Say / Porgy & The Monarchs My Heart Cries For You / Little Joe Romans When Youre Lonesome / The Commodores The Human Zoo / Gloria Jones - Tainted Love / Wombat Im Getting On Life / The Sound Of Soul Footsee / Reparata & The Delrons Panic / Joey Dee Its Got You / T.D. 3. I'll never understand these auctions and the people who bid on them as long as I live. If it was on ebay it might have just made £150. He got £300 odd for a Muriel Day last week, I had it on SET SALE for £100 and it didn't go. If John says something is rare, people fall over themselves trying to outbid one another, if I say the same thing, nobody's interested. It's all about the hype.
  4. Yes. Get your ears cleaned out you f*cking hippy

Or just get round the DRM protection - would anyone really download the same thing twice?
  6. It could be worse, it could be cracked...
  7. Thanks for enlightening us with those words of wisdom, I'll remember that next time I start a topic about postage. * it's not about that, it's about wrestling with your conscience about should you buy it, or stik to your principles and not buy it because of the post charge
  8. I did actually try it for someone a couple of months ago but there's no way of mending a Gwen Owens
  9. You could report him for that Keith
  10. You just need an artists scalpel and a magnifying glass. Magnify the exact area where the problem is and literally cut the scratch out of the groove with the scalpel. I used to be able to do this pretty well but my eyes are bad now and I can't see close up properly any more. I did one about 6 months ago for Carl & Maria which saved them a few hundred quid. Obviously some records are so damaged that they can't be mended but a one groove skip can usually be done.
  11. I use brand new mailers and card for everything I sell but I'd still charge less than half what he's charging for that particular service. Did I buy it? Did I f*ck. Someone was kind enough to buy it for me though
  12. Hissing's mainly caused by the wrong kind of stylus or a too heavy tone arm, once it's done it's done but I've seen some people on here say it can be improved by a certain type of stylus. I've bought brand new records that hiss though!
  13. It's definitely American Jerry - not a UK production at all. Very mysterious.
  14. REGGAE TIME TUNNEL - A JOURNEY THROUGH THE 60'S *** all from vinyl... This time we're starting in 1964 and ending up in the early 70's, Ska to Rocksteady to Early Reggae to Skinhead Reggae and a few DJ items as well. I'm often asked what my favourite genre of Jamaican music is and people tend to think it's rocksteady but it's actually the very early, fast reggae sounds from 1968, BOSS SOUNDS as they are known, and there's going to be a Boss Sounds podcast coming up very shortly. Don't forget you can download all of the podcasts directly from iTunes and if anyone wants to donate a couple of quid to help keep them going, my paypal address is pete.smith@freeuk.com - this is to pay for the podcast servers, traffic etc (costs me £220 a year). https://podcastmachine.com/podcasts/4425/episodes/27037 +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ PRINCE BUSTER - HARD MAN FE DEAD (Blue Beat) / PRINCE BUSTER - RHYGING (Blue Beat) / BUSTERS ALL STARS - JET 707 (Blue Beat) / KEN BOOTHE - YOU LEFT THE WATER RUNNING (Caltone) / ALTON ELLIS & THE FLAMES - CRY TOUGH (Treasure isle) / PETER AUSTIN - YOUR LOVE (Caltone) / THE JAMAICANS - BA BA BOOM (Treasure Isle) / KEN BOOTHE - THINKING (Studio One) / PRINCE BUSTER - SHAKING UP ORANGE STREET (Fab) / SCOTTY - SESAME STREET (Song Bird) / DELROY & THE TENNORS - DONKEY SKANK (Duke) / THE UNIQUES - MY CONVERSATION (Island) / DERRICK MORGAN - JOHNNY PRAM PRAM (J.J.) / THE SLICKERS - NANA (Blue Cat) / KING STITT - KING OF KINGS (Clandisc) / THE UPSETTERS - MY MOB (Camel) / DENNIS ALCAPONE - WAKE UP JAMAICA (Treasure isle) / ROLAND ALPHONSO - LOVER BOY (Gayfeet) / PRINCE OF DARKNESS - BURIAL OF LONGSHOT (Down Town) / MAD ROY (DENNIS ALCAPONE) - NANNY VERSION (Banana) / THE MELODIANS - RING OF GOLD (Gas) / GEORGE DEKKER - FOEY MAN (Island) / THE PARAGONS - MAN NEXT DOOR (Striker Lee) / THE TECHNIQUES - THE TIME HAS COME (Duke) / ALTON ELLIS - GIVE ME YOUR LOVE (Nu Beat) / LAUREL AITKEN - RISE AND FALL (J.J.) / THE GAYLADS - ROYAL CORD (Punch) / DENNIS ALCAPONE - GUNS DON'T BARK (Dynamic).
  15. Cheers for that, and to Mike above. I'll keep em coming, in fact I just published one about 5 minutes back https://podcastmachine.com/podcasts/4425/episodes/27037 I think that's right - ska rocksteady and reggae, all new to my podcasts I think
  16. If that was 1st class recorded delivery I'd take my hat off to you, but as it's probably first class standard I'd have to complain that you were overcharging (I charge £1 1st class or £1.70 recorded or £2 to people on soul source )
  17. Yeah you can't just say it's not for me can you? Nice to know someone off here did actually buy it though. Ask Carl Willingham if I can make a record that jumps not jump.
  18. Can't understand that attitude. I could get that jump out, clean it up to VG++ and sell it for £800. If I had the money to buy it, obviously. Nothing but negativity from the lot of you, never mind I'm trying to do someone a favour. I honestly don't know why I fucking bother sometimes.
  19. I think I'd be worried that I might not receive it to be honest, but you do have a good point, I would buy it at £13.24 to be honest.
  20. I drive to the post office every day, whether it's to send one packet or a dozen. Couldn't charge for it.
  21. I really want this record but I just can't bear to pay his f*cking ridiculous postage rate, if the record was £100 I still wouldn't buy it purely on the principle that he's charging £2.25 for something that actually costs 60 pence to post (2nd class standard). https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ROY-DENNIS-WALKS-DRIFTER-7-1971-MOODISC-HM104-a6-/390221839260?cmd=ViewItem&pt=UK_Records&hash=item5adb08bb9c anyway I don't know what most of you would do, bite the bullet, buy it and leave low ratings? Then I looked at his feedback and noticed he had 70 negatives! So maybe I won't buy under any circumstances. I am not mean by any stretch of the imagination, I just hate being ripped off on postage.
  22. Even with that skip it's got to be worth more than he's selling it for - £480. Bargain.
  23. Thought someone might like this, wish I could afford it, you can thank me later https://cgi.ebay.com/MOMENTS-45-rare-northern-soul-HOG-baby-want-you-HEAR-/310237019295?cmd=ViewItem&pt=Music_on_Vinyl&hash=item483b913c9f
  24. Those sleeveless colour vinyl ones are bootlegs.
  25. Last time I ask you anything, Judas
