  1. I've still got no idea how anyone who hasn't seen it can slag it off. I haven't seen it. I'm looking forward to it.
  2. Not that I know of, sound the same as the Buss one I sold today
  3. I remember it from Wigan, didn't last long before it was 'pressed'. Those pressings were the remaining stock of the Mean Green version via Soul Bowl and they turned out not to be pressings at all. £1.25 from Pep's shop around November 76.
  4. Me too! In fact, we should boycott the cinema and protest with placards outside.
  5. Yeah they didthat and Howard Guyton at the same time, both as Verve issues but without the silver T pattern on the label, never see either nowadays
  6. Great info, thank you. Makes sense actually because the next track on this acetate is by The Metros "Don't let her" which I presume is also from the Goldmine cd's?
  7. It's off a (bootleg) acetate, and is labelled LAFAYETTE - FIRST DEGREE LOVE what is this please, is that the real artist? Great record, let me know if you need a clip
  8. THE NEW GROUP - THERE'S THAT MOUNTAIN - GEMINI DEMO This is THE TRIPS - THERE'S THAT MOUNTAIN! Same song but a later recording, different group name - shame it doesn't have Love Can't Be Modernised on the flip, this is Mountain on both sides, still nice though, never seen one of these before. The version is midtempo and very soulful, sounds like it was recorded a couple of years after the first one - is anyone familiar with this version?
  9. Cheers Ian. Sorry, didn't mean it anyway, I just couldn't hold it back. Good luck with the CD.
  10. There's one in Wolverhampton, Oldies Unlimited, but the problem is that the staff know little about what they are selling and rely on the Record Collector price guide, so everything is book price and they don't take into consideration the condition. So therefore, to someone like me, it's a waste of time looking in there. It was good when Swoz was running it but that was only good for soul stuff, they still didn't know much about the non soul things. The last really great record shop I looked in was in Bognor regis, can't remember the name, was about 5 minutes from the seafront, I got soul stuff plus a very rare French 10" album by Serge gainsbourgh, couple of psych things, happy days. Sadly that was way back in the 90's.
  11. But apart from that??
  12. Serious question and not meant to be sarcastic in any way: do these things sell enough copies to justify the amount of work you all put into them?
  13. Jolly good detective work, I knew I'd posted it somewhere
  14. No point, was for some blue beat things
  15. Good for you leaving the negative, I'm going to follow in your footsteps
  16. Thanks for pointing that out. I am indeed a tool.
  17. I won 3 records off a bloke and the postage charge is just a joke and I'm not paying it, is there any way I can complain about this and not have to go through with the purchase? He's charging £2 post EACH and not combining, then charging 2nd class standard, which cost 98 pence.
  18. Wish I could remember it, or find it - I know I printed it somewhere, he told me the whole story of the record.

  20. Then turn it back again when you realise it's not...
  21. Really? My missus thought he looked overweight and slow!
  22. As a 'music aficionado', I am eagerly anticipating having my next sh*t more than I am anticipating this CD.
  23. I've got a Brenton Wood 45 on his own label, out of California, circa 1973. One side is a very sweet ballad thing. 99 pence on ebay at the moment. This link is just so you can see the scan https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110582906629&ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT
  24. Can't understand people taking the piss out of that clip, I absolutely love it more every time I see it, not so much for the Northern dancers, which is a bit of a cheesy publicity stunt but for the members of the public in the background being prepared to drop everything and join in just because music starts playing. Don't watch the dancers, watch the background. p.s. If Keb Darge dances like my Dad then I wish my Dad had tought me a few steps.
