  1. Didn't realise it was so old, cheers.
  2. I bought one about 6 weeks ago on a Clocktower 45 with the straight version on the B side i.e. not that terrible organ version 'My Argument'. They are always on ebay usa
  3. I never said it did, Eric.
  4. Plus the originals are stryrene and the boot is vinyl
  5. You can get reissues of Uniques and Alton Ellis off ebay for a fiver at any given time. Amazingly there is no current repress of The Loser available, I need one having sold both my UK ones. Not sure what you're on about re The Heptones and what the f*ck is Bushman?
  6. I don't disagree with you Kev, just thought it shouldn't be in sales that's all. A new subsection: Ebay Hassles?
  7. Moved to Ebay section
  8. Can't say as I agree with you but you have given me some great inspiration for my next cover-up artist name - Smidge Boring & The Snoremen
  9. Think this needs to go in the Look At Your Box section. Really sorry to hear you got ripped off by the way.
  10. https://podcastmachine.com/podcasts/4425/episodes/29566 ROY BUDD - CARTER (Much sought-after title theme music to the classic Michael Caine movie Get Carter) THE WHO - UNDER MY THUMB (Rush-released in support of The Rolling Stones' recently jailed Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, this was a double A side also featuring The Last Time) DAVID BOWIE - SELL ME A COAT (A lovely track from Bowie's first LP, recorded for Deram in 1967 and released on the same day as The Beatles' Sgt. Pepper) SHY LIMBS - REPUTATION (Classic psych 45 with great Hammond work, CBS 45) TINTERN ABBEY - BEESIDE (Top collectable Deram psych) 5AM EVENT - HUNGRY (Great version of a Paul Revere & The Raiders non-hit, Pye 1966) THE POETS - THAT'S THE WAY IT'S GOTTA BE (Belting beat number record for Decca) THE SCORE - PLEASE PLEASE ME (One of the most interesting Beatles covers you'll hear, look out for the Stones and Yardbirds riffs at the end of the song. Decca 45, 1966) ADAM BEST - LANA'S PAST (A nice instrumental from a bizarre 1970 Fontana LP) THE SPENCER DAVIS GROUP - LOOK AWAY (Good cover of the Garnet Mimms track from the groups second LP for Fontana) ACID GALLERY - DANCE ROUND THE MAYPOLE (Interesting toytown pop with a huge Roy Wood influence, CBS single 1968) DODIE WEST - IN THE DEEP OF NIGHT (Well known Piccadilly single, but this version taken from an LP called Here Come The Girl Presented By Alan Freeman, and that's just what it is) THANE RUSSELL & THREE - SECURITY (Awesome CBS freakbeat 45 featuring the world's best Mick jagger impersonator) THE BUZZ - YOU'RE HOLDING ME DOWN (A demented Columbia 45 from Joe Meek's RGM Sound set-up, how they expected this to chart is beyond me now, but to the record buyers of 1966 it must have sounded as if it was recorded on another planet) THE PRETTY THINGS - DEFECTING GREY (Terrific track from the S.F. Sorrow LP but not sure it made such a great choice as a single. Columbia 1967) DON SPENCER - FIREBALL (One of my favourite records when I was 3 years old. HMV 45) GARY WALKER - YOU DON'T LOVE ME (This should be instantly recogniseable as the original of the Dawn Penn rocksteady track, though there was a US version out at the same time. CBS 45) ANDY ELLISON - IT'S BEEN A LONG TIME (Supposedly from the soundtrack to the 1968 film Here We Go Round The Mulberry Bush, but I don't remember anything but an instrumental version of this being used in the film. Excellent solo 45 from former Johns Children vocalist) THE BEAT MERCHANTS - PRETTY FACE (Cracking British Rhythm & Blues from a Hastings/Bexhill band, Columbia single 1964) THE WHO - THE KIDS ARE ALRIGHT (My personal favourite of their Brunswick singles, sorry it's off a ropey copy but my best one' on my jukebox!) CHARLIE BYRD - HAPPY TOGETHER (Recently got this in a box of junk, a pretty catchy instrumental version of The Turtles classic recorded for US Columbia)
  11. I thought that was an interesting and varied spot there Dave.
  12. Well done!
  13. Thats more in line with what it's worth. I got 50 for my last one I think. n.b. actually thats wrong, the very last one I had didn't sell at all, it was for someone else and he wanted me to ask 100 I think, then 80, sent it back in the end as it didn't sell.
  14. I've changed my mind, it's rubbish
  15. Jocko is reading this topic, why do I get the feeling I am going to be the victim of a cutting comment and any minute now something like "How can you like this Pete, it's not produced by Biddu" or something similar
  16. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!! Don't call it crossover, it's too good for that.
  17. Was looking through a box of stuff in the shed earlier and came across a record I don't remember buying but I obviously did buy it - NAT BROWN on SELMA. This is not my usual sort of record because it's kind of deep soul mixed with a beat ballad, don't really know how to describe it, anyway I bought it in the house and played it and it floored me. So I wondered if I'd posted it up before, I couldn't find a post of it from me but someone else had so I hope you enjoy it as much as I did, and if anyone knows anything about it I'd like to hear that. /more/soul-library/61748-nat-brown-if-this-is-what-you-want-go-ahead-selma/
  18. Why not just buy a copy of Hit The Road jack and sing different lyrics over it?
  19. OK so the question is, why is it in Johns book if it hasn't been booted? Tim Brown says the original has the title scratched into the run off grooves, but John says that THAT one is the boot, unless it's a typo. I'm convinced that mine is an original now. It's still £50 if anyone wants it.
  20. PM me the address Tim and I'll try and work out how to copy the extra database, the main disc is no problem
  21. PETE SMITH 4 BLAKELEY HEATH DRIVE WOMBOURNE WOLVERHAMPTON WV5 0HW 01902 326306 pete.smith@freeuk.com BOUGHT THESE YESTERDAY AND NEED A QUICK TURNAROUND ON THEM SO HERE GOES ROSE BATISTE - HIT AND RUN / I MISS MY BABY - REVILOT. SOLDThis is a ZTSC stamped original with a similar problem to the above record. HIT AND RUN has a cue burn on the very first note - that's all. It has some non-sounding marks but is really glossy and the play quality apart from the first note is MINT MINUS with no scratches, pops and clicks whatsoever. Spotless clean labels too. I MISS MY BABY has a hiss for the first second, starting just before the music begins. This also has these little marks but they aren't scratches. £125 for this. R. DEAN TAYLOR - THERE'S A GHOST IN MY HOUSE - VIP. An extremely hard to find original VIP stock copy from 66. Visually VG++, it looks slightly used but plays beautifully. Very slight label wear, more so on the flip side Don't Fool Around which is VG to VG+. A really great play copy. £50.
