I don't know about that, I still couldn't listen to a jazz funk record but I've got countless punk records!
-
While you lot were poncing about to disco music with your white socks on, the rest of us were trying to keep the Northern Soul scene alive. Back now though, aren't you...
-
Oh Good Lord no.

I used to play this by Madeline Bell, an LP only track

The Uk Action Label - I Have Every Release For Sale
Pete S replied to Pete S's topic in Record Sales
EX 3 small marks nap, b side EX also -
The problem here is, I've had this seller email me and tell me to stop slagging them off on soul source, but the thing is, if you make crazy statements about records, then you have to be prepared to have them discussed and sometimes disproved. If you put an outrageous price on a record, it will be discussed. It doesn't mean you dislike the seller! All this "one known copy" stuff is a dangerous game to play. This is why I was commenting recently on people paying ridiculous prices for a £5 pink Island single by jackie & Millie which was listed at over £100 by this seller. And the people who've now got it really think it's a rare record because so and so says it is.
-
They claim half their records are only known or two only known copies. doesn't even look UK, might be the scan colour. But if it is - who in their right mind would really believe there's only one copy?

Few Bits Of Top Tunage Rarities, Classics, Reissues
Pete S replied to Raresoul45s's topic in Record Sales
We don't allow this anymore I'm afraid, you have to mark the items as sold on the original post otherwise it's classed as bumping. This is described in the pinned topic about changes to the sales section. But of course now it gets bumped because I've had to mention it. -
I have a complete run of the UK Action label for sale and was going to sell it as a collection but have now decided to sell them separately, so if there's anything you want on this label you are welcome to PM me with any wants you might have and please indicate what you want to pay for it. Obviously there are a dozen or so releases that a lot of people will be after and these are the main ones which will be auctioned. Whatever is left I will set-sale at sensible prices. I think there may be a bit of interest in certain records e.g. I've already had two people ask about a Brenda & The Tabulations 45. Oh and I've already sold the Tom Green single "Endless Confusion" so apart from that, they are all there, from the red and yellows all the way through to the grey ones. Minimum bids below. I will take offers for 2 weeks. cheers Pete p.s. I also have a semi-complete run of UK Jayboy. The missing ones are the pop and reggae issued within the first 20 numbers. Everything else is there, including Ray Merrell, Ernie & Ed, all the Mirwood things etc. More on this label later (The Ernie & Ed is a mint demo MB 100. Ray merrell is an EX+ issue MB 200). The following Action 45's have reserves, the rest do not have any reserve. 4501 CARL CARLTON - COMPETITION AIN'T NOTHING 35 4503 MINNIE EPPERSON - GRAB YOUR CLOTHES 30 4509 BOBBY WILLIAMS - BABY I NEED YOUR LOVE 20 4511 JOHN ROBERTS - I'LL FORGET YOU 20 4516 LITTLE CARL CARLTON - 46 DRUMS 15 4516 THE RUBAIYATS - OMAR KHAYAM 30 4522 DEE DEE SHARP - WHAT KIND OF LADY 40 4629 THE SHOWMEN - OUR LOVE WILL GROW 40 4531 MELVIN DAVIS - SAVE IT 25 4532 Z.Z. HILL - MAKE ME YOURS 40 4535 BETTY HARRIS - RIDE YOUR PONY 15 4537 CARL CARLTON - BAD FOR EACH OTHER 20 4540 AL GREENE - DON'T HURT ME NO MORE (DEMO) 30 4541 BRENDA & THE TABULATIONS - THAT'S IN THE PAST 15 4547 EDDIE HOLMAN - I SURRENDER 100 4548 BOBBY BLAND - SHARE YOUR LOVE WITH ME 15 4551 GENE CHANDLER - I CAN TAKE CARE OF MYSELF 50 4601 THE SHOWMEN - OUR LOVE WILL GROW 15 4604 BOBBY PATTERSON - I'M IN LOVE WITH YOU 40 Those are not set-sale prices, they are minimum bids

The last line is just a list of venues that the Pistols played, but like you mention, it's the significance of the Punk festival that does it for the 100 Club. Plus the Damned played their first gig there too I think
-
That's very strange, I was just about to post exactly the same thing. The problem is, all of us have our own treasured place. For me it was Wigan, for the people older than me, it was The Torch or The Cats, for their predecessors, it was The Wheel; and for those younger than me, Stafford and The 100 Club are the placest nearest to their hearts because that's where they learned their trade. Rather than having daft arguments over the respective venues, why not just concentrate on positive ideas as to how the 100 Club can be saved? I'm not great patron of the place, only been a handful of times but the loss to the soul scene alone if it goes is imeasurable.
-
I have to agree with you. The first time I went, I was in awe of the fact that I was in the same place where the Sex Pistols had played!
-
Did you actually go to Wigan? I went countless times and I honestly never, with the exception of the toilets, thought of it as being a dump. It was the most exciting place in the world for me at age 16/17.
-
It's Prince Buster - Human (version of the Tommy Hunt track) / Bye Bye baby. I've also got this on a blank. Came out here on Fab.
