Ah thats interesting, cos I've got late 1979 written on my tape, that was my guess!
-
What a fantastic instrumental this is! Sorry about the quality of the photo, couldn't get it to focus.
-
By the way, I'm just uploading a tape from the Casino 7th anniversary which features this track, should be ready in half an hour
-
Weird that, I've never heard the 'Herman Hitson' version being referred to as Nate Adams, ever! Until this thread, obviously.
-
No mate, though oddly enough it was recorded by someone named Martyn, Martyn Smith. You can tell it's this recording because of the really strong Black Country accents picked up on the tape
-
Thanks Tone. Ample but not massive. Bet thats rare though, an Oriole publicity photo.

If I was selling it, it would be 40-50 quid. Don't know about anyone else. -
But no pic of the headlights

Never seen a picture of her, can you supply?
-
You know what, I thought this rang a bell, I did have it a year or two ago and was certainly told that it was Candy & The Kisses (or a similar girl group), can't remember who I sold it to or for how much though, wasn't a lot.
-
Coincidence, I've got a tape of that exact same night and exact same spot from Richard!

NORTHERN SOUL'S FORGOTTEN OLDIES VOLUME 3 ***** Ah yes, more of those tunes stuck in the back of your record box gathering dust - well some of them are anyway - the likes of Barbara & Brenda, Bob & Earl, John Lees Groundhogs, Funky Sisters don't get a look in nowadays, and other like The Nomads, The Delites, Sam Williams and The Just Brothers are just in such short supply in their original format that very few people can actually play them. Tracks like Calvin Williams, The Monclairs, Robert Parker and the incredible Bruce Scott beat ballad are simply underrated. ***** https://podcastmachine.com/podcasts/4425/episodes/30660 Barbara & Brenda - Never Love A Robin (Dynamo) / The Hesitations - Soul Kind Of Love (Kapp) / Chester St. Anthony - Together (A & M) / Two People - Stop, Leave My Heart Alone (Revue) / Calvin Williams - Lonely You'll Be (Atco) / The Monclairs - Wait For Me (Sunburst) / John Lee's Groundhogs - I'll Never Fall In Love Again (Uk Planet) / Eddie Holman - Hold Me In Your Ams (Uk Grapevine 2000) / Bertty Boo - Say It Isn't So (Uk Grapevine) / Sam Williams - Love Slipped Through My Fingers (Tower) / The Nomads - Somethin's Bad (Mo-Groov)(Sorry about sound quality on this one) / The Just Brothers - Carlena )Garrison) / The Wall Of Sound - Hang On (Tower) / The Delites - Lover (Cuppy) / Earl Wright - Thumb A Ride (Capitol) / Bobby Paris - I Walked Away (Capitol) / Ann Robinson - World Of Happiness (Uk Goldmine Test Press) / Brenda Holloway - Keeps On Rollin (Soul Bootleg) / Len Jewell - Bettin' On Love (Fontana) / Rose Batiste - I Miss My Baby (Revilot) / Bob & Earl - Harlem Shuffle (Mirwood Cut) (Uk Jayboy) / Funky Sisters - Do It To It (Aurora) / Ray Paige - Ain't No Soul (Rca) / Eddie Holman - Hurt (Uk Goldmine) / Jenny Wren - Chasing My Dream All Over Town (Uk Fontana) / Paul Anka - When We Get There (Rca) / Life - Cat's Eyes (Uk Philips) / Robert Parker - I Caught You In A Lie (Nola) / Bruce Scott - You Can't Lose Something You Never Had (Mgm).

GARNET MIMMS - SOMEBODY, SOMEPLACE - GSF 6887. Anyone know this, just wondered why it wasn't listed in the JM book as it's a pretty good uptempo track.
-
Thanks everyone, I am most humbled, honestly, but not sure why this podcast is being singled out, I did loads better than this one Nice to see all the tracks in one place I suppose. For anyone who's interested, there's a new volume of FORGOTTEN OLDIES going up in about half an hours time, I'll put a link up soon as it's ready.
-
I know, but that 'open minded' comment is the same thing some people on here start shouting when other people declare that they can't stand modern soul. I'm just trying to remember what it was like when I was 18, 19, over 30 years, it's so long ago but I'm still pretty sure that we were horrified when one of 'ours' went over to the other side Also I doubt if there were many people who didn't have a copy of One Nation Under A Groove - even I did!
-
Wonder how long it would be before someone came up with that mantra. I didn't not like it because I wasn't opened minded, I didn't like it because it was shit compared to Northern Soul. Sounds alright now as lift music or music to do your shopping to I suppose.
-
The fact I bought a few post-punk records didn't come at the expense of me not going to Northern do's. The only jazz-funk I ever came into contact with was at the Bali-Hai room at Birmingham Locarno which I just about remember stumbling into.
-
This was played at Wigan in 1976
-
Not sure about that...you were either one or the other, very few people were into both, very partisan - where I cam from anyway
-
Sorry Rob can't see it, Human Beinz is out and out northern, this is just garage. Agree about Kill Bill, really took me by surprise.
-
I'm amazed that this is being discussed, I mean it's a brilliant garage punk record but I've never heard it played as a soul record or even heard of it being played at a venue.

Is this anything? THE ROYAL JESTERS - I JUST FELL FOR YOU - GCP RECORDS San Antonio label, looks late 70's ealy 80's, only one on popsike, a beat up one at $50
