  1. Thanks Mark, I think the original artist may be the one mentioned above so wondered if maybe he'd like them back!
  2. Blimey, they're asking £700 for one of the large ones
  3. Cheers, will go have a look.
  4. Just posting in here before it gets moved to non-vinyl as it is certainly Northern Soul related. I'm sure you've all seen the prints of these paintings by Neil C Thompson for sale on Ebay and at venues, well these are the actual original oil paintings from which the prints were taken. They were given to me by someone to sell for them so I thought I'd test the water to see if there was any interest, or if anyone has any advice how to sell something like this. Whether you think they are any good or not is beside the point, they must have sold thousands of prints so someone must like them. The sizes range from around 14 x 10 for the Ritz one to 24" x 18" for the last Casino one. Interesting stuff anyway. Absolutely no idea what to ask for them but they are all one-offs and came from the artist. 14" x 10" 16" x 12" 24" x 18" 30" x 20" 30" x 25"

  7. Thanks for listening folk!
  8. I didn't say I didn't like her, I do quite like her, but I can understand why anyone who hasn't heard her before would be a bit bemused by her voice! I like the Macy Gray record with Fatboy Slim though.
  9. Yes she certainly has. Don't like her voice.
  10. Can I just point out that it is not actually an offence not to like Esther Phillips nasal whine.

  13. Esther's voice is in "Marmite" territory to be honest, I love Just Say Goodbye but she is very nasally and whiney. I'm sure she was a very nice person though.
  14. A message to you from Ian Levine... I know exactly which record he's asking about. It's not Maxine Brown but Melba Moore (easy to mix up). "I Got Love" on Mercury. I guarantee that's what he wants to find - please pass this on.
  15. p.s. one of the funniest things with Chris, I said "is that you in your avatar" (picture of a bloke with a beard, with a blonde dolly bird) he said "no it's Keith Moon"
  16. I think Chris did maybe 3 copies of the Barbara English, funnily enough I sold it twice! There is definitely a Jimmy Radcliffe version. One of the saddest things about the whole Chris Radcliffe subject, I asked him if he had the original demo of Jenny Wren's "Chasing my dream all over town", which Jimmy wrote, after a week or two he came back and said he'd found it, except the laquer had peeled off part of the record and only around a minute and a half existed - there was no master tape, just this one acetate. He did send it to me but I lost the recording. It was a girl singing and the arrangement was totally different but very good.
  17. Brilliant track that, the inst features on several Collins Downbeat 45's, also it's the backing of Roy Shirley "Music Field" and many more I think. The Alva lewis track is superb as well. Wish I had some spare dosh!

  20. Roots Knotty Roots - Discography CD-ROM Database Of 38,000 Jamaican Singles CD-ROM software (compatible with all PC's with Windows). Documenting all 7", 10" & 12" vinyl release and pre-ska 78's. Search by Artist, Title, Label, Producer, Matrix Number, Year, etc. Includes both Jamaican and UK labels If anyone wants my original copy they can have it for £20. I am going over to Mac so won't be able to run it anymore. If you're looking to identify a blank from the matrix, this is absolutely indispensable, also great for compiling discographies, looking up artists, titles etc. Cost me A LOT of money when it was released and it's something you can use for years to come. (I have a download containing another 10,000 updates which I will include on a second disc)
  21. Well spotted Nev
  22. Charlotte O'Hara was "Bonnie" of Bonnie & The Treasures who did a great record for Phil Spector called "Home of the brave". From what I remember reading, she died in tragic circumstances.
  23. I agree with you. A proper Mala issue is blue plastic. They must have seen sense and chosen not to release it.
