  1. have to be honest, I don't know, what I do know is that you can always date records from delta numbers and that one beginning with 66 is definitely a 60's release (not necessarily from 1966), it's the ones that begin 90 and 100 that you have to be careful with. As for the writing credit to Bettye Swann - might be something to do with publishing / royalties.
  2. Sorry, thought you were taking the piss, drinking wine gives me a sense of humour bypass obviously
  3. There's over £500 worth of records there, I think a few of us have fingers crossed at the moment, Keith you should change this and take offers as your mate is really underselling his stuff at that price.
  4. Er, yeah - there's a handful of white artists, the rest are by black artists, read the description very best and rarest blue eyed group soul dance tracks loads of great quality oldies some truly awesome rarities from the recent years of the scene. should I have put the word PLUS after each line?

  6. You don't say Mart! I had no idea.
  7. I think you're right Dante. I showed that last one you sent me to John (Manship) don't think he'd seen it before. I would have asked 40 quid for it.
  8. Would have been 50 without the bit of LD Grant, I think 50's a proper price, 75 is too high in my opinion but then again, I am the Asda of Northern Soul, apparently
  9. That Gaylettes track is a great dancer, someone on here ought to pick it up and play it out...
  10. Only in that he discovered it and put it out on his label
  11. I think Soul Galore operated from late 74 onwards. I remember buying Strings A Go Go in 1975. I had no idea what it was actually called for years, and Strings A Go Go is such a much better title than Double Cookin! What he means in that description is that it was booted and played ages before anyone worked out what it was actually called and who it was by.

  13. I loved that when it came out, really surprised it didn't chart.
  14. I can't believe that (again) Paul, Phyllis Brown was based in the Carolinas wasn't she (Sonny & Phyllis, The Nomads etc) - same name but surely not same person
  15. Found a clip, she's got dark make up on and her hair is black but I don't think she's doing a black and white minstrel job
  16. No, I know Polly Brown - but I'd never heard that story of TOTP before, and I don't think I believe it either you know I think I may actually have that on video, I've got 40 or 50 TOTP's, surely she wouldn't have gone to such extremes..
  17. ...and identity, postage cost, payment method
  18. Blue Chips - Tell Her - UK Pye. Beat version of Dean Parrish - actually it's not that bad but nowhere near as good as Dean's version.
  19. I iwsh I knew who I was thinking of! Penny Lane?
  20. Funny you should say that; I also remember seeing her on the TV on things like Morecombe & Wise maybe, and I swear she was black with an afro. Maybe we're thinking of somebody else. I was really surprised when I did a search on google and saw all those photos of a white lady.

  23. And mine...
  24. 78 was the year that most of the poorer white records started getting played (Nita Rossi, Blue Chips, Sue Lynne that sort of thing) mainly but not exclusively by Keith Minshull to be honest. I've got a tape of Pep playing Rain in about October 76 and the clapping on it is so loud (also on same tape Matt Lucas, Rosemary, Jay & The Americans Got hung up along the way (played by RS), Yum Yums, Broadway Cissy, Johnny Williams Just a little misunderstanding, Ron Holden, Gentlemen & Their Lady Like Her 12", French Fries, MVP's, Ronnie McNeir, Astral trip - I know all this off by heart having played it so many times after I taped it)
