Can Anyone Tell Me Who Did The Original Version
Pete S replied to Pete S's topic in Look At Your Box
It's a bit, I dunno, harsher sounding than this one, I really don't like much Studio One after 1968, all that stuff that came out on Bamboo, Ackee, Banana, probably about 6 decent sides in the whole catalogue! -

Don't come here with your fancy lingo that version - the backing track - is poor compared to this one, in my opinion only -

It's the right song (Three Dog Night) but I'm not certain that's where I know it from. Ebony Keyes is a different song isn't it? -
I definitely know the song, can't place the artist
-
I've knocked £20 off the Jackie Edwards...
-
The red on that looks a lot more vivid than on the boot though...
-
When I follow that link I just get my own 'my ebay' ?
-
Actually, you'd probably be able to pick up a reissue of Silent River for less than the cost of a carver. I had an Island one for sale until about 2 weeks ago, £30

Could do you those easy Andy but could also send you the files so that you can get them done yourself, save yourself a bit of money?

Strange thread this because at least 50% of the records posted up, although they are certainly lovely to look at, aren't rare at all. I won't name titles, it's plainly obvious. Unlike the stock copy threads, there were some seriously rare items posted up on that one. Got this one this morning, second one I've had, JM auctioned one a couple of years back, don't know what it went for but it's certainly a tough one.

Ask my why I do it. THIS ONLY APPLIES TO REGGAE RECORDS which I play at home for my own amusement Because 1) I'll never find a copy of the original record but I'd still like to be able to play it at home 2) Even if I found a copy of the original, I couldn't afford to buy it 3) Sometimes when I can't afford to keep a record any longer I have to sell it, so I get a copy done to replace the original

Who gives a f*cking f*ck ??? The original poster is asking a simple question.
-
If it was the 4th anniversary, the group was The Chants.
-
I get stacks of them done by vintl carvers, all reggae - never noticed any difference between the finished product and the file I send them, which come off cd usually anyway.

One day back in 1975, we were given an afternoon of school for some reason, me and my mate decided to go up town (Wolverhampton) and we saw tthree things so odd that they stayed with me all this time; first, the bus we were on had to stop to let a dog use the zebra crossing. All the traffic stopped and the dog crossed the road. When we got into town, I saw a man walking along hitting himself on the head with a large book. We followed him and he kept it up until he was out of sight. On the way back, and this was the main one, we were going along the duel carriageway on the bus, and we overtook an old man in a bath chair, propelling himself along with a walking stick, he must have been doing 20-25 miles an hour. I'll never forget him, old bloke with grey hair, big grey moustache, and a dressing gown, I bet he'd escaped from an old peoples home

Sold one in 2000 for £140. Sold one last year for £700. £1000 is obviously way too much but it was an unplayed/mint one so I suppose that explains it. I'd rather have one that's been played a bit and save a few hundred quid.

I'll never forget the first time I had it, pretty sure I'd discovered a new version and couldn't wait to play it... oh dear
-
It was pressed on a Stardust offshoot, not on WD. Loads of issues turned up in the UK at one point alongside another of his singles for the same label.
-
I was going to mention this record but decided against it as musically it is a crime against humanity. it sounds like the Four Freshmen. I'd pay someone to take it off me. No offence Romain.

Ten To One was a very big record at Wigan May-July 78, then booted, Everything You Ever Wanted To Know didn't quite go so big but that was probably because it was f*cking sh*t, You Fooled Me only got minor spins but was still booted. Of the three, Ten To One still sounds great.
