  1. If you ever see a UK one close up it's so easy to tell: no centre for a start, no milling round the edges of the label, no stamped number...
  2. The Paula Parfitt is a definite bootleg (not a second issue, reissue) and you'll be lucky to get more than £10 for it.
  3. Here come two useless answers, there's one on a Stax LP might be Little Milton, the other is an uptempo version on Shiptown but I forgot who it's by!
  4. Can't believe nobody's mentioned this seller. I got a Marv Johnson record off him and it hissed for the first 20 seconds, when I asked about it he told me "what do you expect with a 40 year old record"... his track record speak for itself, look at the way he talks to his customers https://toolhaus.org/cgi-bin/negs?User=thuds&Dirn=Received+by&ref=home
  5. I did play that side first but it was so horrible I deceided to go with the other one
  6. Stuck it out at £40 but would probably take £30
  7. I know mate, that's what I was replying to - Dave's japanese My Kind Of Girl

  9. Didn't one of these turn up on Turkish Decca recently?
  10. John Manship bought out a guide long long ago, also in his last catalogue he has a lot of info and several hundred colour photos of the various pressings etc. Also at the back of the last Tim Brown price guide there's a guide to several hundred pressings.
  11. Correct, but I've stopped using it due to the headaches it gives me, make sure your room is ventilated!
  12. Think they were done all over the place to be honest. Loads done in the UK - all of the Soul Sounds label releases were pressed at the same place as Jayboy 45's. Ones on Magic, BJD - almost certainly done in the UK. Later on Demand label, North etc, all UK.
  13. I don't think they care because they have so much money that it doesn't matter how much they spend to get a record. A good case is Vala Reegan, £800 one week, £300 a few weeks later. Anyone paying £800 for a record like that obviously has no regard for money whatsoever.
  14. Thanks for the info everyone, that's actually really useful Gene, I can use that in the blurb to try and flog it!
  15. Just in case anyone thought I'd made a typo, it does say PROFESSIONAL COPY not promotional copy.
  16. I could have got more information off the back of a f*cking crispbag. Tony Rounce, you're sacked as my guru, I've moved on
  17. Again, sorry to ask, but I pick up some records from time to time and I have no idea if they have ever been played out at some point, this one, Ricky Lewis - Someone to love tonight - Mercury 72640 (WD), produced by Bobby Robinson. A very slow starter which might have some people reaching for the eject button until after 20 seconds it transforms into a decent dancver; format is then repeated. The good bits are really good but it's a bit too stop/start for me.
  18. is this version known? Sounds a lot later than Dean Parrish's version. Never heard of the label, International Concepts, they forgot to print the artist name as well, Marge Dodson is stamped on along with "Professional Copy Not For Sale"
  19. Well it's certainly not Picture Me Gone it's Take me For A Little While
  20. I agree, it's more or less the same tune.
  21. Whats that got to do with anything, anyway Evie Sands is the original isn't it? Just to clear things up, are you saying the Timi Yuro hasthe same backing as various versions of Take Me For A Little While, cos if you are, I agree, I just don't agree that it uses the Stevie Lewis one in particular.
  22. Definitely Yate, then Wigan for a couple of weeks.
  23. Also I'm sure the Stevie Lewis is a UK production. Get your clogs on Dutchie.
  24. Similar but not the same backing track Ken - the Stevie Lewis record is a year later anyway I think
