  1. A bit pricey? Three, maybe even four times what it's worth makes it incredibly pricey.
  2. WIGAN CASINO 12-2-1977 https://www.mixcloud.com/mayfairmenthol/wigan-casino-live-12-2-1977-northern-soul/ Second of this weeks Wigan live double-header, this was a fantastic night at what was my favourite period of Wigan late 76 to early 77. I recorded this from the back of the room with the recorder sat on a table so it's not digital quality but the atmosphere is, of course, second to none. DJ's are Keith Minshull and Richard Searling. (sound improves after 1st track)
  3. Both of those are boots, Chaumonts 100% definite, Sharpets is the pressing with lines drawn on the label, come on Keith!
  4. Is that one on Creole not the original version? It has the B side of the original.
  5. Yes I remember that, it's on a pale blue label...I'll get it in a minute...The Natural Soul Band
  6. Cherubs a boot under it's cover up name Mark, I didn't know it was the Mylestones for about 5 years
  7. WIGAN CASINO LIVE 15-10-1977 n.b. you can only play this, you can't download it - you could record it if you install freecorder or similar https://www.mixcloud.com/mayfairmenthol/wigan-casino-live-15-10-1977-northern-soul/ I uploaded a few of my live tapes onto my itunes site and they were incredibly popular (1000+ downloads on a 1974 one) but it used up all my bandwidth so I stopped doing them. Just found this one which I forgot I converted from cassette, I remember this was a really quiet night for some reason so I sat on the stage and recorded this with the tape recorder placed on top of one of the speakers - hence it's great quality. I prefer my Wigan tapes with more atmosphere and clapping but today's generation seem to prefer the music, so here's the first part of Richard Searling's spot from 15th October 1977.
  8. Butch Baker / Mylestones is the same record mate
  9. I bought one off ebay yesterday, be here in a couple of weeks, 60 quid or so I'd have thought, graded VG+ played pretty much perfect
  10. Have sent Nomad Woman...
  11. I ask the sellers to value low and say that I will take the hit if the record doesn't arrive and promise not to try and claim the money back from paypal. If you're both honest people, this should work.
  12. I've got to admit, more than any other record, The Joker was the record which made me realise there was a difference between the normal soul we heard at our youth club disco, and Northern Soul, the beat was so driving, just relentless, I bought this (on Cherub) not knowing what Northern Soul was, within a couple of months I was a worshipper! Do I like it? Not much, but if you took that laughing off, then yeas, superb
  13. Hang on a bit though, the original Royal Vibes track, Russ only pulled this out on rare occasionas, I remember it being played at the 3rd and 4th anniversaries, this was the original MYLESTONES backing track with added Simon Soussan vibes, this was actually pretty good (booted as The Wigan Joker credited to the Royal Vibes) - then in 79 I think it was, he recorded a version himself called The Wigan Joker, which was, of course, dogsh*t.
  14. Trouble with Gemm is that they stick their fee onto the price of the item I think so it looks even worse than it is.
  15. I usually sell this for £125 or £150 if it's unplayed, and there's a lot of copies around which are unplayed for some reason.
  16. That one must be gold plated..
  17. Yeah that was horrible, it was by Esko Affair - didn't do much though did it? That "Spiderman" record - I remember getting this in a collection I bought once and I had no idea what it was doing in there - I'd never heard it played or even heard of it - until you just mentioned it.
  18. What do we know about this label, if anything, I notice a lot of records are produced by Wardell Quazergue and it's part of the same set up as Hot Line etc, just wondered if there were any recommendations apart from Don & Ron and if there's ever been a compilation?
  19. By a child! But what a record!
  20. Well I can answer that one - in the early part of 1978, Keith Minshull started playing this and it went absolutely massive as a revived oldie - soon Russ was playing it as well and for maybe 6 weeks it was one of the biggest sounds on the scene. Hence the bootlegs. p.s. not all Atlantic pressings have AT in the run out, let alone Dial ones.
  21. Not true in every in fact probably most cases, I packed it in because I'd just had enough, got a couple of years older, started a new relationship and didn't want to spend every saturday night travelling 80 miles to take drugs and dance to music anymore. Everyone has their own halcyon days; all of 76 and the first quarter of 77 were the best times ever for me, others will say 74-75 can't be equalled.
  22. Yes it's so simple that it's had 500 views and 25 odd comments.
  23. Probably loads but as soon as I lose I delete the bid so I've never any record, I do occasionally see it when I've bid exactly the same as the winner but still not won it and it does mention ' incrament'. I was wiped out yesterday, bid on 16 items, won 3!
  24. Yes it was booted on a white Dial demo - think it's styrene.
  25. Stick Detroit Soul on here - not a rare record but always sells.
