Well we took the amp back today for a refund and my missus refused to leave the shop until they gave us a set of speakers to make up for the damaged ones, eventually after 20 minutes they gave in and let us have a pair and they're better than the ones I blew up! Richer Sounds only have one budget amp, Cambridge Audio, and it's very basic for 79 quid
-
Need an amplifier, preferably black, it's just for home hi-fi use, happy to buy second hand but don't want to pay over 100 quid to be honest, anyone got one for sale or maybe recommend an online place to buy one from? Loads of second hand ones on ebay but I've not idea what's any good or not: Marantz, nad, Pioneer etc etc. is this any good https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Cambridge-Audio-A1-mk-3-Special-Edition-Amplifier-Amp-/200592212171?pt=UK_AudioTVElectronics_HomeAudioHiFi_Amplifiers&hash=item2eb43a40cb
-
Same here - at least 10 last week who I didn't buy from or bid on because of that.
-
Maybe you did know this but I didn't, I did a search for the singer "Christine Cooper" and a result came up from Google Books, turned out to be a one line mention in a 1965 edition of Billboard. So I did a few different ones, for instance, a search for singer RODDIE JOY bought up this edition (link doesn't work so removed it, but go to Google, click on MORE and choose books then search) and inside it is a small review of a Roddie Joy single but tons of interesting material, showing things like Tamla Motown expanding into the UK, adverts for singles, breaking tunes like The Uniques, so there must be countless editions of Billboard online which people could use to gather interesting memorabilia.
-
Well it's a bootleg EP most likely done for the scooter scene in the 80's - someone might know exactly when it came out.
-
I doubt that as they had their own reissue label in the 80's, Motown Yesteryear
-
The arrows are probably later but not much later as some records are available with both designs - maybe it's according to where they were manufactured?

PETE SMITH 4 BLAKELEY HEATH DRIVE WOMBOURNE WV5 0HW Pete.smith@freeuk.com 01902 326306 JUST A FEW FOR SALE TODAY BUT NEVER MIND THE QUANTITY, THERE’S SOME GOOD QUALITY... THE VAN DYKES – SAVE MY LOVE FOR A RAINY DAY – MALA ISSUE M 175 SOLD Beautiful blue issue copy of this all-time classic, ten times rarer than the demo HOWARD GUYTON – I WATCHED YOU SLOWLY SLIP AWAY – VERVE ISSUE M 175 SOLD A very hard record to find on a stock copy and even more so because I believe this copy is unplayed! Absolutely stone mind blue and issue – you’ll never find a better copy. DEE DEE SHARP – WHAT KIND OF LADY – TOP TUNES M- 75 On the Greek Top Tunes label, this looks stunning, centre is intact and it comes in it’s original Hit Records sleeve, probably the best example of this issue that you’ll see. LINDA HOPKINS – MEMORIES AND A BROKEN HEART – BRUNSWICK VG++ 40 Absolutely brilliant midtempo dancer – never had this before JACKIE BURNS & THE BO-BELLS – I DO THE BEST I CAN – MGM DJ M- 40 SOLD Lovely old Stafford cover-up (Jackie & The Gilettes) TIMIKO – IS IT A SIN – CHECKER DJ EX 40 Lovely early midtempo sound JOHNNY LOVE – CHILLS AND FEVER – STARTIME EX- 50 SOLD This is the first, local label issue of the record which came out as Ronnie Love on Dot, books at double this price THE FOXES – I JUST MIGHT FALL IN LOVE – ABC DEMO VG++ 70 Few marks but plays perfect, nice girl dancer and early Eddie Singleton production – was a 200 quid job MILLIE JACKSON – A HOUSE FOR SALE – SPRING (UK) M 25 SOLDUnplayed first issue original from 1976 MARION RYAN – BETTER USE YOUR HEAD – IBC STUDIOS ACETATE VG++ 30 The original acetate of the Philips single, one sided, labelled ‘Version 2’ but I think this is the one that was released THE KNICKERBOCKERS – WISHFUL THINKING – CHALLENGE DJ EX 70 Stunning beat ballad BETTE BOOTHE – TEARDROP AVENUE – FALEW M 30 Superb midtempo KENNY BALLARD – MR. MAGIC – KAPP DJ EX+ 25 Classic oldie LITTLE JOHNNY BLAIR – MOMMAS GONE – HOUSE OF THE FOX EX 20 Now totally forgotten Wigan oldie CYNTHIA & THE IMAGINATIONS – HEY BOY (I LOVE YOU) – BLUE ROCK DJ VG++ 75 Very nice Detroit dancer TROY DODDS – TRYING TO FIND MY BABY / EARTHQUAKE – BAYTOWN M 25 “Trying” is an absolutely pounding dancer – was on my last Northern podcast MILL EVANS – GOT TO HAVE YOUR LOVE – CONSTELLATION M 30 SOLD Torch oldie – nice original DARROW FLETCHER – GOTTA DRAW THE LINE – GROOVY EX 25 SOLD Storming Solid Hitbound Production HIGH VOLTAGE – COUNTRY ROAD – COLUMBIA DJ EX 25 Cleethorpes magic EDDIE HILL – I CAN HEAR YOU CRYING – GE GE EX 60 Nice Detroit oldie DENISE LASALLE – A LOVE REPUTATION – CHESS VG++ 50 Plays EX MARY SAENZ – WOULD SHE DO THAT FOR YOU – BIG BEN M- 40 Nice girlie dancer THE SALEM TRAVELLERS – GIVE ME LIBERTY OR DEATH – CHECKER M- 40 I reckon Gospel Northern is going to be the next big thing! BARRY WHITE – ALL IN THE RUN OF A DAY – BRONCO M 40 Superb beat ballad from the man himself THE DALTON BOYS – I'VE BEEN CHEATED – VIP ISSUE VG++ 50 SOLD REDUCED – BARGAIN! This is super rare as a stock copy. The only reason I'm doing it cheap is because it looks a bit scruffy, the VIP logo has been written over with marker pen and it has some ring wear. The vinyl looks VG++ but trust me when I say it plays EX, super-loud and sounds brilliant. This has `Something's Bothering You' on the B side. SOME MORE REDUCED BITS MARGE DODSON – BRICKS, BROKEN BOTTLES AND STICKS – INTERNATIONAL CONCEPTS EX- 40 Well talk about an obscure version, never even knew this existed. Slight label wear and a couple of marks but plays fine. Love the stamp on the label "Professional Copy Not For Sale" lol CLAUDE HUEY – FEEL GOOD ALL OVER – EARLY BIRD VG++ 30 Glossy with some marks not affecting play, cracking old Stafford dancer PEGGY MARCH – LOSIN' MY TOUCH – RCA DJ M- 35 This is absolutely brilliant, it's as good as If You Loved Me is bad – subtle midtempo / beat ballad beauty, it's been on a couple of my podcasts ERNESTINE ANDERSON – YOU'RE NOT THE GUY FOR ME – SUE VG++ 30 Three in a row for the girls, glossy with a few marks and the odd background pop, still awesome CARL BURNETT & THE HUSTLERS – JERK BABY JERK – CARMAX DJ EX 40 Top L.A. dancer, rare vinyl white DJ, old Stafford spin but it'll have it's day again thos one. I'm sure there's a version of Green Onions on the blue Coxsone label, can't remember who by though
-
No it doesn't, not if they have funds in their paypal account, it costs nothing extra. I pay the rent every week like this, it doesn't charge me anything.
-
Mick it was on the friday night, one of the last things they showed. Enjoyed Dennis Alcapone and Nicky Thomas, thought the backing band (The Cimarrons I think) were really good too, very versatile. Agree with you about The Wailers by the way.
-
Watched it when it was shown 4 weeks back. Some people on the reggae forums say they can remember it originally airing but I still can't see OGWT airing 45 minutes of reggae in one program, especially as it was such a minority interest back then, and the program only ran for 30 mins anyway I think.

Stardust Label - Is It Legit Or A Bootleg Label
Pete S replied to Pete S's topic in Look At Your Box
They look like home-made test pressing labels. -

Articles: The Unknown Facts of Motown and Detroit
Pete S replied to a topic in Front Page News & Articles
It's a bit odd that the Freedie Gorman "Miracle" single hasn't been found seeing as I've got a copy here...plus he had at least two other solo releases for Ric Tic so hardly his only solo effort. -
You're either joking, or you're very rich. Original is only 125/150 so who in their right mind would pay 45 quid for a bootleg? You tried selling one? Took me about 2 months to sell the last original I had.
-
I'd do it for 700/750. Thats my going rate for it.
-
I got one around last september for 550 off Ebay, there were 4 copies in the space of a month and all went for similar prices, I sold it for 700 a couple of months later when I decided I couldn't afford to collect UK again!
-
In the UK I think
-
I wasn't having a pop at you Nige, keep yer hair on! I'm talking about a thousand quid!
-
Steve I'm not sure how you do these but if you haven't already got it, try a little program called 'amazing slow downer' on which you can alter the pitch, speed, anything you like, and also a good karaoke program will help quiten the backing but keep the vocals. I thought the radcliffe springfield one worked really well apart from the choruses.
-
Yes but how many other 'Liberty' acetates have we ever seen? I'd have thought they were more likely to use acetates of the studio where they were recording. I think the Timi Yuro is a fake, but there's no reason why it couldn't feasibly be on an audiodisc blank as they were the most popular blank discs for cutting demos
-
I think we need to get a grip here, this should be around £700 on an EX copy. Just because some nutter pays over the top doesn't mean everyone has to put their prices up. Only the greedy ones.
