I don't like that much either...I did 30 years ago...
-
Chris King (I think) had an unreleased version of this, I'm sure he called it Bobby Mandolph, anyway it was called Mister Teardrop instead of I'm A Teardrop and was much more midtempo. I don't like either of them. Larry Henley who co-wrote it was the lead singer of The Newbeats.

Who in their right mind would dump a record like that up the loft?

I haven't got one Tony, I always sell mine, but at any given date you'll find one on ebay, very common record, pay no more than £20

I gave it another listen to see if I was wrong about it but it was actually worse than I remember it. The Javells is more soulful than this. George Lemons has a rival... -
I don't think most people have only just discovered him, he's been posted about on here loads of times, from when he did his first Jonathon Ross appearance and maybe before that. There's also been a couple of promo videos posted up. So it's not like people haven't heard or heard of him. like most music today, I find him just okay really

IN MY OPINION All the Magnetics Northern records are great except for When I'm With My baby, very poor song, the B side though is 1000 times better, Count The Days. Never understood how people can dislike Lady In Green, it's got all the ingredients; great vocals, good song, good to dance to, it's even a rare record... -
It was reported to me that after the first two prices, there are no other prices on the website, the problem seems to be with internet explorer; with firefox and google chrome, all the prices are there, with explorer, they aren't! I've been trying to do this for 10 years, I've done it a few times but never been in enough control to manipulate the images to the correct sizes etc. Capacity for learning certainly gets less as you get older! (sorry Pete, will leave your thread alone now)

First time I ever heard Sisters Love it was at Wolverhampton Civic Hall, played by guest DJ for the night - Ian Levine

Well, never in the history of Soul Source have I been so outvoted on a record - there's only me on the entire site who doesn't like it! Have to say I am very surprised, unless there's a frightened few out there. Really though, if we all liked the same thing it definitely WOULD be boring. -
Soon as the boot came out, it stopped getting played, you know thats what I meant

https://podcast9122525417.podomatic.com/entry/2011-06-23T11_34_48-07_00 Hi folks, sorry for the delay between podcasts, this time I couldn't decide whether to do a Northern Soul one, a Popcorn one or a Girl Group one so I did a bit of all three; mainly Northern, with some great Popcorn dancers plus a couple of nice UK Girlie tracks. The last two track are truly mind-blowing beat ballads. So a bit of a mish-mash but I hope you enjoy it all the same..... Yvonne Baker got booted summer of 76 mate, Sandy Hadley booted April/May 76, from what I remember the first time I ever went was April 12th 1976
-
I don't ever remember hearing that at Wigan but Russ always played the other side, the instrumental, covered as Bob & Earl band. I didn't even KNOW there was a vocal til the 80's
-
Think he may be right as it hadn't been booted at that precise time
-
But..Barbara Pennington, this was a massive Wigan record, remember the 3rd anniversary, it was played about 3 times, so for me it's a forgotten Wigan sound. The fact that I never went to The Mecca may have some influence over my selections
-
Kev just because they are 70's releases doesn't mean they originated from the Mecca, Pennington obviously was did but Brandon & Johnson was a John Vincent spin at Wigan, Liberty was an Alan Rhodes spin at Wigan and was also played at Cleethorpes, how you going to know where it was played first when 3 venues have the same record?... I'll check the next lot with you make sure I don't make any more mistakes...
