I really do think those were the best days, when records were just played and not analyzed and investigated to make sure it's got the right artist/producer/label. Days when mad records like Cochise, Boots Randolph, Ronas Theme, Instigations, Dirty Hearts etc could go hand in hand with Lou pride, mel Britt, Jerry Williams and so on. Great times. Always said it - Northern Soul does not have to actually mean it has to be soulful.
-
No it came out on Pye some months before as just another single, it later got picked up by a few dj's, and was then repromoted by Pye Disco Demand as being by a black group!
-
I'd have thought it was just slightly on the low side, £150 for a demo I'd have thought. Never had the mis-spelt one myself.
-
Dunno but you don't half sound excited about it, last two posts are yours, nobody else exactly jumping up and down
-
Smudge he's not talking about Psychedelic Soul mate.
-
Definitely Keb.

Just a thought. Why does anyone who's got some records think that they can be a dj? At any given times I've got enough good records for a great spot and I know how to put the spot together, I really do. And I have done in the past, many times. Except I hate using the mic. Therefore I am not a proper DJ and I do not think I am a DJ. But everyone else is, apparently

I sell between 80 and 90 % of all of mine at the first price listed, if they don't sell I reduce them until they eventually go. Then again, I put reasonable prices on my records usually, not like some sellers on here. It's as if they don't actually want to sell them, just show they've got them!
-
I have an awful lot of records pass through my hands but my own collection is about 150 pressings, 50 British and a handful of cheap US originals, so what, I love them, I play them regularly my latest personal buy was 24 Hours A Day by Bafbara pennington - hardly worth any money but just a record that I like. And rarity doesn't always equal top quality does it.
-
From what I know, they were done by the same person who did all the psych and freakbeat bootleg repros a few years ago so presumably he used the same pressing plant (in Yugoslavia or somewhere near) so the deadwax will only have (probably) the scratched in record number - haven't got one of the r & b ones so can't check. And they will of course all be vinyl.

Oh of course. Hey well at least that proves I'm not making it up
-
I once had the demo acetate of this track, no artist named on the label, obviously a one-off - got a feeling I might have posted it on here. Long gone now anyway. I wouldn't have thought the Truly Smith record was worth more than £30 though I saw an issue getting a lot of attention yesterday, and have to say, I've only ever had it on demo.
-
I know they cut 3 or 4 test acetates but these are the ones we're talking about - and the only way they get damaged is if they aren't looked after.
-
I'm afraid that's rubbish, I've had acetates I've played literally hundreds of times with little or no deterioration in sound, that acetate I cut from my original of Monique, I've played that at every dj spot I've ever done and it still sounds perfect.
-
I always thought it was that too.
-
This isn't aimed at Joerg, but at any ebay sellers who don't refund both ways postage; it's a rip off. Why should the customer have to pay for the seller's mistake? I had an EX+ record returned to me this week as the buyer said it was only EX (!) so I refunded him plus both lots of postage, it was my fault!
-
Yes if you pay the postage
-
You're quoting me and talking to Pikey Steve. I was actually sticking up for you.
-
Right, so everyone else is allowed to make a comment, complain or ask questions about a seller, except for Ernie Andrews. Let me just jot that down so I don't forget.
-
Erm, yes it is. Try £50.
