  2. Not denying that Steve but I've been reading the old Black Music magazines where Ian reviewed his new discoveries and I've been literally gobsmacked at some of the titles he was tipping in 74/75, which didn't go big for 20 years.
  3. That is spot on Nev, if you have a look at that link that I posted today of my own collection, absolutely none of them are my photos https://www.discogs.com/user/pete.smith/collection but at least it's a good way of monitoring what I've got
  4. When you enter a record onto the Discogs database you are asked to add a photo of the label..
  5. Ady he is singing on the other side of the record though.
  6. Ian Levine was so far ahead of the rest when discovering new records in the 70's - and I don't mean new releases - that it took until the rest of the decade for almost everyone else to catch up.
  7. My Reggae / Ska / Rocksteady collection if anyone wants to have a browse. Scans are not mine, they're already up. This is a great way of cataloguing your collection by the way, and it's free. https://www.discogs.com/user/pete.smith/collection
  8. Also on Track compilation Liquorice Allsorts
  9. That was it's cover up name
  10. Used to be by label for my UK's and Reggae. Surname or group name for Northern. Now I've gone over to first letter for everything and it's made it much easier. Just a pain when I get 50 of them out for podcasts and have to put them back in the strict alphabetical order next day.
  11. Herb & Doris - somebody somewhere needs you
  12. Also a 4 track EP and a 4 track promo EP
  13. He emailed me a few years back to correct me on something I'd said about him, got my facts wrong, that was when I an Levine did his forum
  14. My imaginary spot for a four hour soul night – did this one live the other night – 100 tracks, first half (apart from Betty Turner) are all my old Wigan favourites, then there’s a few uptempo 70’s classics and then it’s just a free for all. This should keep you busy / dancing / excited / bored (delete where appropriate) but there’s nothing on here that’s less than a 9 out of 10 record. 17. It's the best - but you have to pay for it
  18. Only just logged on to be greeted with this terribly sad news. A very knowledgable and helpful guy. RIP mate.
  19. Worthy but dull as dishwater...that's why I prefer the energy of the 60's stuff. Interesting top 10 though mate I have 7 of those on 45
  20. If you said to me, we're running an upfront soul night, I'd think you were playing new discoveries and top rarities. Thats what it means isn't it?
  21. I'm not giving permission for you to use these until you learn to spell RHYTHM
  22. Yeah well it's very easy for you to categorise them now Mart 40 years after the event, but the answer to your question is that they are all Northern, first time I ever heard it Nolan Porter was Northern, Sergio Mendes was Northern, all of them...and I bet back in 1976/77 you did exactly the same
  23. Aaaah it's making my head explode not being able to explain properly, so I'm going to give up. Nothing against anyone or anything, I just like what I like and the more you dilute something, the less interesting it gets for me.
