  1. It's 100% bootleg.
  2. I don't know why they did bother to be honest. Should we all be jumping up and down and saying it's a brilliant repersentation of Northern Soul in 2011 Chalky?
  3. Well I'm sure they were around, I got my first one when I was 14, second hand off Clive Stepanek. But the haircuts?
  4. Those people in the photos look like they are from 40 years ago
  5. I've got a feeling that it's someone who sells on here, I won't say who but the Motown green and whites are a clue - apologies if I'm wrong. I was after something he was selling the other day to be honest but he never answered my question about it's authenticity.
  6. I know they do, I sold one last week! How can anyone so blatantly describe a bootleg like that as an original - twice?
  7. Original? Right. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bits-N-Pieces-Keep-Running-Away-US-Original-/160623390908?pt=UK_Records&hash=item2565e670bc
  8. I don't like it much either, always sounds unfinished to me
  9. It's a demo - and while it is rare, it's never been highly regarded, even when it was big for that brief period in 78, so as with the Gwen & Ray, not really one that a DJ would buy to play out I would have thought.
  10. That's on Take 6 not Gold Token, poorer quality recording and different B side.
  11. Don't suppose anyone's got this lurking in their sales boxes have they? MARTY HILL - MR. ORACLE OF LOVE - PHILIPS PB 1116. 1961 release. Will pay up to £50 for a decent one. Came out on US Columbia and there's a buy it now on ebay for the equivalent of £36 but that's for a VG one and I'd prefer a UK one or a better US one cheers
  12. I don't give a toss what you like, but lucky you for being so cosmopolitan in your tastes, aren't you great
  13. Soulful House music is not Northern Soul music and has quite enough venues already without having to force it on people at Northern venues. It's bad enough having to endure modern, crossover and funk, yet the purveyors of this type of music continue to try to force feed it to disinterested punters and yet they dismiss proper roots-of-soul rhythm & blues as rock n roll and country music.
  14. Brilliant, but weren't these already put out as single CD's 6 or 7 years back?
  15. Sounds like that was it - 99% sure it was listed as The Ambers. On the same tape as Charmaines - I'm standing in the need of love.
  16. I had an unissued version of Funny Face Girl, had it since the late 80's, but can't remember who it's by. I know I put it on one of the Cream Of The Crop cd's but those are a decade old at least and I threw away the masters of those. Dammit I hate it when I can't remember stuff. Just remember it was off a publishers acetate.

  18. now sold Right, well this doesn’t turn up every day, in mint I’d have stuck 400 on it but this one has some label damage, looks like it may have stuck to another record and where it stuck it’s been coloured in red same as the label. Play wise, tiny bit of noise as it starts but vinyl is really excellent, no scratches. £250 including postage in the UK (overseas ask) Please don't offer less, price will not go less than this
  19. No, US Columbia, some don't have the red lettering, they use black instead
  20. I don't think £600 for that is a low price, let's face it, it hasn't been played out since 1974, it's a collectors only record and nobody is going to buy it to make it their top DJ spin. I'm amazed it went for so much money, as good a track and as rare as it is.
  21. Got ana amazing Spanish copy with a pic of the group on there - they were multi-racial and had a girl member, think I posted it in the "that's nice" topic
  22. Warm water and washing up liquid
  23. REGGAE ROCKSTEADY CHILLOUT 2011 https://www.mixcloud.com/mayfairmenthol/reggae-rocksteady-chill-out-2011/ Last year I did three of these Reggae Rocksteady chillouts and they were probably the most popular podcasts I ever did, I had several people saying they'd played them incessantly during their holidays, unfortunately there were too many downloads (over 1500) and it used up all my bandwidth (on Podcast machine) so I had to delete them and add them to Mixcloud as listen only compilations. Well here's one for this summer, the very very best in cool rocksteady and reggae, lots of old favourites but I think you'll agree it's nice to have them all in one place. Plus s the cream of Studio One and Treasure Isle is here as ever. I've had to lessen the quality slightly to fit so many tracks in but it should be ok. So whether you're relaxing around the hotel swimming pool or sitting in your garden with your feet in the kids' paddling pool, relax and chill out to these sounds. 25. Not me I'm afraid Ady, I never went to the Stafford allnighters, I only went there up to 1980...John Pugh will know
