  1. That's me then Macca. Thanks for your pity. Even though I've probably forgotten about more 'proper Northern Soul" records than many have actually heard over these last 38 years. Can't stand the Chuck Cockerham record. As a soul record - it's average I suppose. As a 'Northern Soul' record, which crossover is apparently a sub-genre of, it does nothing for me at all. That's the way things are, people are different and hear things differently. Why can't you and others accept that instead of making yourselves out to be oh so superior to anyone who doesn't want or even need to venture out of their comfort zone. No offence intended to you personally Macca, I know you're alright, but you being so judgemental at least gives me a right to reply to you.
  2. I did offer to help price and/or sell these for him but asked that any reissue was noted as such, for whatever reason he wasn't interested but if you're then going to put them on ebay it's just ridiculous not to let people know what they are buying.
  3. Well it's rare alright but the price is in the eye of the beholder I guess.
  4. and the most decisive factor: the internet. The number of people who said "I just typed in the words Northern Soul and couldn't believe it was still around"
  5. Steve/Lee Jeffries have a UK MGM issue on their site. £400.
  6. Once again can I point out that the seller is on here, he told everyone he was going to sell them on ebay (despite being advised not to ) and I'm sure he'll tell you what the reserve is if you ask him. Think it's soulboy 1965, the chap who's partner had to go into rehab, hence his record sale
  7. Oh yes. But I think discussed on a previous topic.
  8. I'd give up now if I were you cos nobody's going to help you after this...
  9. No need to be off with someone who's been on here a hell of a long time, he's right anyway, if you go to www.popsike.com and put the details in, it'll show you the prices that the item has been sold for along with pictures of said item. People will always be happy to help but not if you get arsey with them. Especially after 12 posts.
  10. Very poor second to Roy Hamilton's version though.
  11. There's no reissue of The Charge but going by the amount of copies around, it could easily have been pressed in both styrene and vinyl, at different plants, so one could be scratched and the other stamped. It was never bootlegged or reissued in that format.
  12. Got nothing to do with who replied, if anyone questioned something which I believe to be the truth I'd reply, wouldn't you?
  13. Topic elsewhere about this, I think we concluded there were 3 different versions. The best being the Detroit Prophets.
  14. Yes if you say so
  15. Yes but the good ones are green Nev but still have PB and the next ones are blue label styrene, also have PB. Thats why I'm saying the blue one in the picture looks 100% real to me. I mean, it's not like I could afford it anyway but if I had the money, I would not be afraid to bid on it.
  16. But they were discovered 35 years ago, thats the point, they ARE Northern Soul not crossover. Think we could be here all day on this one so I'll leave you to it. But I'll give you something like Lynn Varnado - Wash and wear love - that it crossover. And it was rubbish 35 years ago and is rubbish now.
  17. I can see them now. No not worth anything except NF Porter which is 15-20 quid.
  18. I'm not seeing anything, sorry, maybe the scans are too big? Endless waiting to open time
  19. No I'm sorry, that's Northern Soul and you can't hang another title on it 30 years after the event just because it now fits into another category as well.
  20. So what?
  21. Was a weird episode actually this one Kev because I usually do it live, off the cuff, on adrenalin, but this time nothing was happening! All the useless but interesting facts I knew, I couldn't be bothered to relate them. Next one I'll get back to form and put more obscure beat records in again I think as people seemed to enjoy the variation.
  22. Exactly. Great description. Tapeswappers sounds.
  23. I have to disagree here I think, the one on ebay looks nothing like the bootleg and I think it's a real one. When they did that pressing in 76 on styrene with a blue label, they would have based it on an original, hence the blue label. I think both blue and green are original.
  24. Also I think Funkytown by Lipps Inc was styrene in the UK
