Midnight Music Lp Sampler? Anyone Know Anything About This?
Pete S replied to Pete S's topic in Look At Your Box
Cheers. I found them both today in a collection of 1000 x 12" singles. I took a few reggae 12's but left the rest, except for these two. -

Let's go for option 1 shall we?
-
I'm not defending him, I"m trying to find out why you've taken it upon yourself to attack him that's all. "your partner is waiting for the usual 5,000 word sermon before bedtime!", hardly 'baiting' is it, I doubt if I'd have even noticed it if said to me.
-
I have absolutely no idea what you're trying to achieve by baiting Kev Roberts Rich. Talk about pointless.
-
It may well be I Am Wasting Time but it's not for his side is it, it's for the instrumental on the other side! The A side may as well b blank.
-
That's absolutely right Win, round here practically everyone was suddenly into Northern Soul in 1975...most didn't stay with it, they moved onto whatever came next
-
If facebook had clearly defined topics I might give it a go but it's just a mess as far as I can see
-
I'm not really defending Kev, he can defend himself, I just think it's always the same people (Kev Roberts, ian Levine, Russ Winstanley etc) who get constant stick and others who do the same as those three get lauded for it.
-
By the same token, you could say that to those of us who sell Northern Soul records for a living, if I didn't sell Northern Soul records I would be out of a job, we all have to make a iiving.
-
I pointed out elsewhere on this thread that certain people are persona non grata while others could get away with murder for doing exactly the same thing and yet be slapped on the back and congratulated. You can't win Kev, why bother wasting effort? And when the people doing the shouting have gained a tenth as much respect as a guy like Richard Searling has gained over the last 35 years, then I might take them seriously.
-
Yes but saying it shouldn't be too hard or expensive is midleading, because it is hard, and it is expensive! As we both know.
-
Totally disagree with you, it's his hardest UK single to find, the B side (Beyond) is a superb soul beat ballad and it took me several years to find one, since I sold mine I've not seen another and he's looking at at least £40 for a copy.

What people don't realise, or have forgotten, is that on those 2 nights that they filmed This England on, the vast majority of people did not want the cameras in and did not want to be a part of the program so although you did get one or two bona-fide proper dancers, the majority were shows offs, camera bandits, first timers and posers, and thats also why the dance floor is nowhere near full. Most people sat at the sides, hiding their eyes from the lights! I can also tell you that practically nobody did acrobatics at that period in time, only spins.

OK I'll check it now. Managed to listen to about 10 seconds of it, it sure does go boom boom, sounds like the Village People. p.s. how much should I ask for alfie davison mercury 12" serious business?
-
What the f*ck is the boom boom version, I wouldn't know one from the other, you don't think I've actually played this do you?
-
Am I being a dumbo here, I've got this 12" but can't see any of the catalogue numbers mentioned or are they just for 7"

This has a minute crack on the edge, it's not actually cracked through but it can be seen if you look very hard for it. This has no effect on the play grade whatsoever, because despite that bit of bad news, it's probably the best copy to come up for sale in years, both sides in excellent shape, maybe EX minus on the flip, and I'd actually consider 600 to be a bargain. This is the first press and Let The Door has some tiny distortion in the louder parts, you can hear this if you listen to the Soul City 45 of it as they dubbed it off this first press. It's barely worth mentioning. Labels are clean, vinyl is lovely. Treat yourself to a nice Christmas present! 100% guaranteed to be as described or better. KENNY CARLTON - LOST AND FOUND - BLUE ROCK VG++ 150 This is a record with a bad history, almost every copy is faulty and distorted, fortunately this one isn't too bad, it does have a few moments where it sounds like the tone arm has been pressed down too hard. Happy to send a full sound file to anyone who wants it. Great B side, Wait Til I get You In My Arms, also done by Major Lance of course. THE CHANCELLORS - ALL THE WAY FROM HEAVEN - CAPCITY DEMO VG+ 75 Few surface marks and a minor crackle right at the start, otherwise strong playing copy, drill hole on edge of centre hole, if you see what I mean DOTTIE CAMBRIDGE - CRY YOUR EYES OUT - MGM EX- 40 Nice black issue, vinyl has some marks but play grade is ex CANDY & THE KISSES - THE 81 - CAMEO EX 15 LES COOPER & THE SOUL ROCKERS - OWEE BABY - ENJOY EX 15 GENE CHANDLER - I CAN TAKE CARE OF MYSELF - CONSTELLATION EX 30 JAMES CARR - THAT'S WHAT I WANT TO KNOW - GOLDWAX M- 25 LITTLE CARL CARLTON - COMPETITION AIN'T NOTHIN' - BACK BEAT EX+ 20 THE CHI-LITES - I'M SO JEALOUS - BLUE ROCK M- 20 JOHNNY COBB - LOVE DOESN'T PAY - JAGUAR EX 40 Really obscure double sider, one midtempo one uptempo dancer JAMIE COE - I WAS THE ONE - ENTERPRISE VG++ 30 Great popcorn sound THE COMBINATIONS - WHILE YOU WERE GONE - SOLID ROCK EX 80 Couple of marks plays perfect KEANYA COLLINS - I'LL GET OVER IT - BLUE ROCK EX 25 POSTAGE £2 RECORDED DELIVERY £6 SPECIAL DELIVERY OVERSEAS £2.50 STANDARD AIRMAIL £8 SPECIAL DELIVERY (REQUIRED FOR OVER £30 ITEMS) PAYMENT - BANK TRANSFER, CARD, PAYPAL, CHEQUE, ETC CHEERS PETE NO OFFERS PLEASE

Nice Collection On The Bay, 4,300 and Reserve Still Not Met
Pete S replied to Sheldonsoul's topic in Look At Your Box
Missing the point I was trying to make - he needed to mark every single record as original/reissue etc, then people can price up the collection. Not have to guess what things are. -
Nobody's made a comment since he apologised, are you reading it backwards or something?
-
1st detroit Prophets press on white Advance label was speeded up too fast; correct speed one is fantastic, it was pressed twice, one on a black label and one on the Boot label.
-
I haven't read the above but it's rubbish...
