  1. It's actually around $530 Chalky. Use this site www.xe.com
  2. McCadden was a genius, I used to love chatting to him on the phone, his fanzines certainly inspired me, often making me laugh out loud, and I wrote in the same don't-give-a-sh*t style when I did my own fanzines and articles...still do really. That poem is wonderful.
  3. Yes the Ann D'Andrea was an old Catacombs and possibly even Torch spin back in 73/74
  4. Had one earlier this year - thought it would fly out, think it only went for £175 in the end. He was a doo-wopper though Dave, not a rocker..lead singer of The Spaniels
  5. Dave, as I said above, red and black Ann Dandrea was way before 1977, thanks for backing me up you're completely wrong about the date of Pookie Hudson though, it wasn't pressed until either december 76 or january february 77, now I have it on a Wigan tape from 77 and as you know, they dropped anything that was pressed from the playlists straight away
  6. there's thousands of members so this should not be beyond us!
  7. Right I have just sent this message out to almost 1500 people, I really hope you get a response Chalky, let us know how it goes. If any of the other record dealers with a large mailing list want to help out, they are welcome to utilise my message or any part of it. I just thought I'd mention this as I read it and couldn't quite believe what I was reading. Perecy Williams was a member of the fantastic Detroit group The Metros. He passed away a few weeks ago and he still hasn't been buried as the family haven't been able to afford the undertakers bill. God what a situation. They are trying to raise the remaining balance of $863. Now, my days as a fundraiser are over, for various reasons, but I did think I ought to mention this and direct anyone who is interested to Soul Source where you can read the entire sorry story. Here's the link https://www.soul-source.co.uk/articles/soul-news/percy-williams-appeal-r2311 anyone who wants to donate, the details are at that link or you can send directly to Roygennard@virginmedia.com via paypal just mention me or planet records and he'll know what it's for. From what I can gather, the family saved up the money, gave it to a relative to pay the bill and she spent it! Percy's been in the funeral home for 6 weeks. You couldn't make it up could you. Anyway I'm going to send them a tenner, it's not much but it's better than nothing! cheers everyone Pete
  8. I don't know that particular record but Preview was a label set up to publish 'song poems', you wrote a song, send it to Preview with your cheque, and they would turn it into a record, there's a documentary called Off The Charts - The Song Poem Story, which features a good interview with Rodd Keith's son and he tells all about Preview records.
  9. Absolutely - set up a paypal account or ask to use someone else's, ask if each member could maybe donate a fiver, Christ if we can donate to buy Gil Blanding one of his own records I'm sure we could help pay for this funeral. Sadly I'm twice bitten, twice shy now so I won't do any fundraising but I can certainly help with mail outs etc.

If it's released via Millbrand Music then it's 100% legal.

    Who has?

Especially as you can still pick it up on UK Capitol for under a tenner. The new reissue does look great though.

  19. It's crap. All versions are. Except Harold Melvin's. In my opinion, obviously
  20. I prefer Will Young's version....
  21. I know I knew what you meant, I wasn't pointing out the fact to you, I was pointing it out to the other chap
  22. The Anna Ford thing stems from one photo in Russ's book, she was there with work colleagues apparently but when he did an interview with Paul Ross on some late night chat show, he said she was a casino regular. Bit like Mick Hucknall, who Russ also says was a regular, despite Hucknall saying he never went to a Wigan allnighter...
