  1. One of the strangest typos I've ever done but I know I typed CBS, not sure how that happend LOL
  2. https://www.mixcloud....e-british-side/ I just fancied getting some of the old UK label records out and giving them a blast, this one is not ALL Northern Soul but most of it is, the one's that aren't certainly are not too far removed from Northern. It's amazing that after all this time, new things can still be found on British, witness stuff like Gerry Dorsey (actually an incredibly rare UK Hickory release prior to him changing his name to Engelbert Humperdinck), Heather on King (a great revamp of a Hortense Ellis release on R & B a couple of years earlier) and the stomping "Shakey Jakes", none of which were known a decade ago. Some good obscurities on here as well, plus a few classics and a few of my favourites. (All dubbed from the original vinyl, so expect a bit of crackle and pop) JAY & THE AMERICANS - GOT HUNG UP ALONG THE WAY - UNITED ARTISTS HELEN SHAPIRO - STOP (AND YOU WILL BECOME AWARE) - COLUMBIA THE JAYBIRDS - THE RIGHT KIND - SUE TONY JACKSON & THE VIBRATIONS - FORTUNE TELLER - PYE LESLEY DAWSON - RUN FOR SHELTER - MERCURY AMERICAN YOUTH CHOIR - KEEP YOUR FINE SELF NEAR ME - POLYDOR KAREN YOUNG T- TOO MUCH OF A GOOD THING - MAJOR MINOR JACKIE DESHANNON - FIND ME LOVE - LIBERTY PERPETUAL LANGLEY - TWO BY TWO - PLANET THE STRANGE BROS. SHOW - SHAKEY JAKES - POLYDOR CHAPTER FIVE - YOU CAN'T MEAN IT - CBS JACK HAMMER - ODE TO A DISCOTHEQUE - POLYDOR BARBARA RUSKIN - LOVE CAME TOO LATE - PICCADILLY JAY & THE AMERICANS - LIVIN' ABOVE YOUR HEAD - UNITED ARTISTS CAROL DEENE - HE JUST DON'T KNOW - COLUMBIA THE CHANTELLES - THERE'S SOMETHING ABOUT YOU - POLYDOR GERRY DORSEY - BABY TURN AROUND - HICKORY LIZ CHRISTIAN - SUDDENLY YOU FIND LOVE - CBS TONY TYLER & THE STREETS - LYING AWAKE - MUSIC CENTRE THE BEAZERS - THE BLUE BEAT - DECCA PEANUT - HOME OF THE BRAVE - PYE SUSAN MAUGHAN - THAT OTHER PLACE - PHILIPS BOBBY SHAFTO - THE SAME OLD ROOM - PARLOPHONE HEATHER - I'LL COME SOFTLY - KING KIKI DEE - ON A MAGIC CARPER TIDE - FONTANA SAMANTHA JONES - SOMEBODY ELSE'S BABY - UNITED ARTISTS BARRY YOUNG - SHOW ME THE WAY - DOT GARY BENSON - THAT MAN'S GOT NO LUCK - PYE
  3. I know Flanny but you should maybe have listened a little longer, seriously it would probably have been more to your tastes than mine because there are way way too many 70's and crossover records for me on there. Like you say, to each his own.
  4. Your loss...you talking about the Connie Stevens record, which is great Northern...of course there are no decent white Northern records, here we go again..
  5. Anyone wanting to know what Ian Levine might be playing at the 100 Club, he's done a 3 hour podcast which you can find at this link
  6. Anyone wanting to know what Mr Levine's 100 Club set may contain, perhaps this will give some clues, a 3 hour podcast featuring NO Ian Levine productions, just good knowns, unknowns and classic oldies. https://soundcloud.com/ian-levine/solid-soul-sensations-podcast Ian hopes that you enjoy it!
  7. Any interest in this? LARRY HAMMOND - SAD SAD DAY - ACETATE vocal to Sidras Theme A tailor made by dave Burton done a decade ago, Larry Hammond is a really good singer and this is pretty bloomin' good actually. This is Mick Smith's acetate which he says he got from Dave Rivers, so only Dave Rivers will know how many were cut. Also features a 3/4 complete vocal to All For You on the same side and a then unissued Gladys Knight track on the B side. Quality is perfect, condition is better than excellent. If Butch once played it out it can't be that bad eh? https://www.soul-source.co.uk/forums/topic/212012-elijah-rockin-with-soul-vocal/page__p__1646767__fromsearch__1 Offers welcome.
  8. He must have two then because he originally played it off a no centre Stateside issue, I went up and looked at it
  9. More like the power of my mailing list and massive exposure on facebook!
  10. Closing this in 2 hours time. Highest bid is £1100. I have the record here now and it really does play superbly, and vinyl is at least VG++
  11. Could be. Probably said York cos Alan Rhodes was from there.
  12. He was from York wasn't he, always discovered British stuff and supplied them to Alan Rhodes, used to see him most mornings after the Casino, Paul will remember (60s soulboy). He found Charlie Gracie and John Drevars.
  13. What utter rubbish. If the records were that easy to find, how come there were only 5 or 6 top dj's with the records? Levine was untouchable for four or five years.
  14. He contacted me once when I made a comment about him. Honestly. Wasn't on soul source I don't think though, think it was on Advanced Northern Soul.
  15. That was as good as the Love Is The Only Answer is..er..indifferent, really Drifters influenced, doo-wop backing, good vocalist - does it have a chorus? Great stuff.
  16. Yes they are both red and black but the black print was done in a very very convincing counterfeit. The braille stamp can be anywhere on the label, one side or both sides
  17. Steve - released on dvd box set by Bear family Records in super quality a few years ago
  18. I think this has run it's course now.
  19. Yes I thought that too, in which case he ought to say what he means, not that he's got a f*cking clue what I sold him seeing as it was a few thousand quids worth of stuff that had never been listed, from a previously untapped collection, but if you look carefully you'll notice Nev commenting or having a pop at practically everything I ever post anyway so I tend not to take a lot of notice of him to be honest.
  20. It was a Tru-Glo-Town production so at least there's a link!
  21. I'm going to close this auction at 10pm on sunday night (8th jan). Top bid is currently £1100.
  22. Where can I get one of these 'diswashers'?
