The Classics - So Glad That I Found You - Yan G For Sale
Pete S replied to Pete S's topic in Record Sales
Just need to add that if anyone is actually interested in purchasing this, something may be happening with it this evening so it's adviseable to let me know at some time today. Thanks. -
Very funny. Can't hear anything. The whole f*cking record sounds like a flaw.
-
No I'm just saying that having been an early champion of this record, way back in 1990 or thereabouts when it was a £2 cheapie, I've heard it hundreds of time but never noticed the flaw, I might have thought it was part of the record!
-
Cajun Hart - Got to find a way, on the UK demo there's a one groove jump on every single copy just after the instrumental break around 1.43, I also thought this was on the issue as well but having never had one, someone will have to play it and find out.

I didn't hear one!

Ian Levine 3 Hour Podcast Solid Soul Sensations
Pete S replied to Pete S's topic in All About the SOUL
Anybody could do a podcast at any time, if I feel like doing one, I take 20 minutes to choose the records, 90 minutes to record, then about 45 minutes to get it onto the pc and publish it. If he wanted to do another one it's a piece of p*ss and would only take a couple of hours. -
I've got a terrible version of this by The Donnie Collins Showband featuring Shaun on UK Pye demo and they do a note for note copy of Richard's version including that bit at the start about his beautiful hair, but it's in an Irish accent and has to be heard to be believed (I actually bought it for the other side, a pretty good version of I Can't Help Myself!)
-
it's a bit of soul, a bit of rock & roll I reckon... Little Richard didn't make many bad records though. I still can't believe it's gone "big" though
-
I've played that Mary Wells hundreds of times and never noticed that, maybe you've been unlucky Matt!
-
Because of you!!!
-
I'll rephrase that to 'he introduced it to The Casino' then. I knew they were from Southampton though, once did an article on them for some magazine or other, think they had one more single, on Polydor.

Ian Levine 3 Hour Podcast Solid Soul Sensations
Pete S replied to Pete S's topic in All About the SOUL
Ian told me a few weeks ago to look our for that Bob Wright as he found it on one of his old Mecca playlists and they played it as a new release, I found one in 5 minutes for £5, might still be a few out there if anyone's interested. There must be hundreds of records that were played as one-offs and never played again. Alsi I0 9gree with Andy above, really needs some top uptempo 60's - but as I said the other day, Ian bought a lot of really good oldies off me recently, I don't mean Tainted Love, Dearly Beloved sort of things, Quotations, Sheryl Swope, stuff like that, so he's got enough amunition. -
Question About The Larks - Mickeys East Coast Jerk
Pete S replied to Pete S's topic in Look At Your Box
The second 110 entry must be wrong though Bob, as it should be Mickeys / Soul Jerk, not Slauson / Soul jerk? -
Ian Levine 3 Hour Podcast Solid Soul Sensations
Pete S replied to Pete S's topic in All About the SOUL
Thanks Nev. Well Ian asked me to post the link as he isn't on this site, so I did. That's the end of my connection with it. But I believe that he must have wanted some kind of reaction to it or he would have told me to close the topic after posting it. A lot of it isn't to my taste but you can't say that the bloke isn't sincere about his soul music. If I were going to be doing a spot at the 100 Club with these records, I'd go for the most immediate first, the Hank Mullens and the like, keep the floor going with a couple of rare oldies (and he's got stacks of those, obviously he didn't want same old same old on the podcast), then slip in a few of the newer midtempo things, and then repeat as and when required. Though me telling Ian Levine how to dj is a bit like me teaching Eric Clapton to play the guitar. -
Question About The Larks - Mickeys East Coast Jerk
Pete S replied to Pete S's topic in Look At Your Box
Thanks chaps. Not much of a collectable though to make the prices any different though I would have thought? -
Odd one this, I am just about to list THE LARKS - MICKEY'S EAST COAST JERK - MONEY 110 DEMO. The B side is an instrumental called THE SLAUSON SHUFFLE. However in the last price guide, it only refers to a release with the B sie being SOUL JERK. ON JM's website he has Soul Jerk / Mickeys East Coast Jerk. So are there two versions of this release?
-
I think 'Slade' a lot, down to the fact I downloaded 25 live bootlegs by them last year and am still happily listening to them! Sheffield City Hall 1973, one of the best live gigs I've ever heard. p.s. soul connection - Slade once played gigs in the Bahamas supported by The Twans!
-
Bit harsh I think, recorded for Okeh at the same time as things like I Don't Want To Discuss It so just as much a 'soul' track as those on the Explosive LP really - it's been hanging around at £10 on UK Columbia for the last 20 years and now people think it's rare...
