  1. Now rumour has it that Led Zepplin's "Trampled Underfoot" was played at the Mecca as a new release, it sure has that 'groove' to it...
  2. The Johnnie Mae version is untouchable to my ears. I like both of the Inspirations versions, it was years before I realised there were two as it didn't get played too often. Pink label one just edges it for me.
  3. Yes and the LP version has two instrumental breaks instead of just the one on the 45, great stuff
  4. I don't think King Records themselves know half of what they released. I'm still finding stuff now that I didn't know got releases. Last two I bought were "Heather" and "Sonny Hines" and I'd never seen either one before. If you could let us know what numbers you're looking for, I'm sure someone will be able to help.
  5. Can't find one in here. Think I"ve got a no centre copy though, you can have it for nothing if I can find it.
  6. Podcast I did, I put about 10 of them up last year, deleted them after 2000 or so downloads, saw them appearing on youtube so put some of them back onto mixcloud (as above). Anyone can do anything with the stuff I post, just wish they'd credit where they got it from.
  7. Yeah thats the one, these people take my full live tapes, chop them up, then post them up on youtube as if they recorded them!
  8. Don't know if you remember that Wigan tape from sept 74 I posted up but that version id on there, unbelievable clapping on it https://www.mixcloud.com/mayfairmenthol/the-best-wigan-casino-live-tapeever/ it's after Wombat about 15 mins from the end
  9. They took the instrumental version of that Chosen Few record, which is the B side of the issue, remixed it, added some effects and that was Footsee. They're one and the same record. There are numerous versions on the same theme, one of them starts with the intro to a little bit hurt, one has different car horns in the middle etc but they all use the same instrumental, the B side of The Chosen Few on Roulette. Kenny posted a good version up, not sure if it's still around, off a Pye acetate.
  10. 1) I thought you were being serious 2) I'll see if I've got one
  11. No, why?
  12. Thats a ridiculous price, I sell it for £6 on UK orange RCA, the black UK RCA is very rare, £50+, UK demo £100, people paying big money for USA copies are crazy in my opinion, £30 demo £60 issue absolute maximum. Doubt if the OOTP guy can do anything seeing as he bootlegged 50 titles and was prosecuted for it!
  13. Those are 100% legal issues Andy from the people who were behind the JoeBoy label in the 90's.
  14. Thats right, out of The Torch via International Soul Club, mastered by a top US producer in Chicago and overseen by a famous US soul recording star - sounds unbelievable doesn't it, but the mastering for these was done at Brunswick Records in the States
  15. No, I was just pointing out the strange choice of label really.
  16. Did you ever see Carl Douglas on the orange Out Of The Past? IT's that label, but it's When We Get There by Paul Anka. Given the number OOTP 18.
  17. Return of an infamous old label, quite interesting that they chose this and gave it a number which would fit in with the original sequence, except that the A side wasn't discovered until four years after that label stopped putting records out.. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Paul-Anka-We-Get-There-Northern-Soul-Vinyl-45-/110806306032?pt=UK_Records&hash=item19cc920cf0#ht_712wt_1398

  19. The Soul City one...not that I was there or anything..
  20. I was talking about I Go To PIeces
  21. I'm sure that when Al Wilson played live at Cleethorpes, he had to be tought the Help Me song because he'd never actually heard of it!
  22. I think it's a different Al Wilson though Rich. Not a patch on Help Me though.
  23. Have been asked to lock this so as to stop new comments keeping it at the top of the records for sale section, quite right too, I should have put a discussion about it in the look at your box section.
  24. They started appearing about 18 months ago, when I had my first one I was quite blown away as I hadn't had one for ages, then I got another 6 weeks later, then two or three went through ebay, and a couple went on soul source as well.
  25. I'll see if I can record it and post it somewhere!
