-
It'd been sat there on ebay for ages as a buy it now, I went back to it 2 or 3 times and was amazed it was still there.

I don't usually get my knickers in a twist over a 70's record, especially a British produced one, but blimey that Clem Curtis record is fantastic, it must surely be the best UK produced soul 45 of the 70's - both sides as well. The production, if you've never heard it before, sounds just like a Willie Mitchell / Hi Studios production like you'd hear on Ann Peebles or Al Green at that time. Great vocal on both sides too. I resisted buying this because I thought I;d come across one easily, I didn't, I paid £55 off Rob Messer for a demo and I think it would take double that to get it off me now. Great stuff. p.s. should I see a doctor?
-
The fact that it's got a black label should give you a clue
-
I thought they were at first but they appear to be able to license any record from any label. Some are disc dubs as well, that's usually a giveaway.
-
Younhger members may not get the Erroll Flynn reference
-
yeah those prices are an absolute joke, I auctioned some 2 weeks back and the average price was £10 or less, in fact I set-saled them the week before, that delites was £30 and it didn't sell. I sold Nabay for £40 last week. Morris Chestnut demo, £25. Betty Boo demo £30. So most are half those ebay prices and still didn't sell.
-
Stardust reissue worth £5. Someone puts a colour copy label on it and now it's worth £50. Man I could make a fortune doing that!
-
pm'd you a minute after you put this list up, hope you got the PM!

Nothing suggests to me that it's a bootleg. -
I'd be embarrassed to sell that

Mike, I had that album as well, it had Glendora on it, which I've never had (yet), the Locomotive as well I think, I do actually have the Terry Reid 45 but it's practically unplayable, I once had a promo only thing by him called Superlungs which I gave away to someone and years later saw it for sale for a lot of money... -

What's Your Favourite All Nighter Record Ever By A White Artist
Pete S replied to Sheldonsoul's topic in All About the SOUL
Idle Few: The Idle Few were born of the Arlington Kings'Men from 1964. When they decided to cut a 45, the other Kingsmen (maybe you have heard of "Louie Louie"), kinda stood in the way of the Kingsmen name. Members included: Rick Webster - guitarist Ronnie Bennett - Sax - Lead Vocals Greg Taggart - Bass Dan McLean - drums Mark Grey - organ Hear Farmer John andAnother World here. There is an ongoing debate as to whether the Idle Few also did a 45 on Blue Book with the titles "people that's why / land of dreams". I say not the same, but if I'm wrong, please let me know!!! Update 1: Jason sent a scan showing the writer credits on the Blue Book 45. I'm sure now it's the same Idle Few. Now I have to get that 45. Update 2: Did you notice the "Skeet Bushor" production tag? Skeet played in the "Boys Next Door" and had writer credits on the "Sounds Unlimited" 45. Great guy to keep your eye on! -
Can you understand that though? If you want to sell a collection of records, surely you publicise them as much as possible, not get people to contact you. If you're scared to list the records then that says a lot, to me anyway.

In my defence, I have about 250 records of my own, my favourites, and all the ones I listed were taken from those 250. -
Ila Van , Jd Bryant , Performers , Yvonne Daniels
Pete S replied to Dave West's topic in Record Wants
Wwell you may well get offered Ila Van and The Performers for under £100 but JD Bryant is about 5 grand (repro available at a fiver) and Yvonne Daniels is very rare on original, probably 600-700 quid, again there is a boot at under a tenner. -
Yeah I managed it. Next up, Joe Meeks Freakbeat Ska Boogie - Jamaican R&B the birth of ska 5 volumes of Popcorn Party Decca & Capitol Rockabillies I downloaded a lot of albums the last few days so thought I'd better see what tracks if any I wanted to keep.

I am listening to a bizarre cd called "A tribute to Diana Dors vol.1 - British Beat before The Beatles 1955-62". The only connection to Diana Dors seems to be her picture on the cover. I've got three volumes of those to get through.
