  1. No Shapes Of Things is alright but he really, really overdoes the Cockney accent on that one
  2. "I've got more friends than I"ve had hot dinners, Some of them are losers, but the rest of them are winners" definitely the worst of the Pye recordings, other side should have been the A side, it's fantastic
  3. Colour of the lettering is all wrong to kick off with...
  4. Had to chuckle there Mike, Pin-Ups is the only Bowie album up to 1980 which I didn't put on iTunes cos I hate it so much See Emily Play, Sorrow, Where Have All The Good Times Gone would have made a great EP, the rest is terrible...well not terrible, just dull.
  5. https://www.mixcloud....ol/early-bowie/ I've been meaning to do this one for ages. Unlike the critics who almost universally despise the early Bowie stuff (probably because they're too f*cking lazy to listen to it properly), I absolutely love it, especially the brilliant Parlophone and Pye singles. This podcast features the best of everything pre-The Man Who Sold The World. As a bonus, I included Bowie's brilliant demo of All The Young Dudes over the Mott The Hoople backing track. Happy days! n.b. tracks marked as unissued were unissued at the time - two eventually appeared in 1970 and the version of London Bye Ta ta here was only released for the first time in 2010 though had bee widely bootlegged. I deliberately left off Space Oddity as it wa such a big hit. 6. Glen Miller is a really well known Jamaican singer, it's definitely Jamaican.
  7. I suppose it makes sense though, if you hear something and think wow I'd like a copy of that...also mixcloud's free so no doubt it pays for itself by advertising the likes of itunes
  8. Jock, I've got a nice LP list out tomorrow, you might find something of interest. Not got the Pic & BIll though.
  9. https://www.mixcloud.com/mayfairmenthol/any-way-you-wanta/ Another mix of weird and wonderful 7" singles from the 1960's...kicking off with a bit of classic oldie style Northern Soul including both sides of The Showmen's masterpiece (amazingly I picked up 2 x red/yellow Action copies of this last week), then some beat things including the extremely bizarre David McCallum single (where they just having a laugh when they made this?), some excellent UK girl singers, some R&B, and ending up with two tracks from the 70's, Clem Curtis's brilliant double sider on Pye from 1972. I took all of these tracks off original UK label releases except for the title track which was a USA only release. THE MARKETTS - BELLA DALENA - WARNER BROS MAJOR LANCE - THE MATADOR - COLUMBIA THE SHOWMEN - YOU'RE EVERYTHING - ACTION THE SHOWMEN - OUR LOVE WILL GROW - ACTION THE PROPHETS - I GOT THE FEVER - MERCURY JOHNNY CARR - YOU GOT ME BABY - FONTANA INEZ & CHARLIE FOXX - NO STRANGER TO LOVE - STATESIDE JOHNNY NASH - (I'M SO) GLAD YOU'RE MY BABY - MGM THE RAELETS - ONE ROOM PARADISE - HMV TONY MIDDLETON / BUT BACHARACH - MY LITTLE RED BOOK - LONDON WYNDER K FROG - SUNSHINE SUPERMAN - ISLAND DAVID McCALLUM - COMMUNICATION - CAPITOL WAYNE GIBSON - UNDER MY THUMB - COLUMBIA TONY KEELING - IT'S A CRYING SHAME - PYE LESLEY GORE - LOOK OF LOVE - MERCURY ANDEE SILVER - SLEEPING BEAUTY - HMV LAURIE - FOOLS WILL NEVER LEARN - DECCA ANGELINA - I JUST DON'T KNOW HOW - FONTANA KIKI DEE - ON A MAGIC CARPET RIDE - FONTANA THE QUIK - BERT'S APPLE CRUMBLE - DERAM THE OLYMPICS - THE BOUNCE - SUE MABEL JOHN - ABLE MABEL - STAX BUSTER BROWN - FANNIE MAE - SUE ERNIE K DOE - DANCING MAN - ACTION HARVEY - ANY WAY YOU WANTA - US TRI PHI CLEM CURTIS - I'VE NEVER FOUND A GIRL - PYE CLEM CURTIS - POINT OF NO RETURN - PYE
  10. Found one, Jan 29th, $135 but less than VG according to the seller though and he said he would have expected $400 in mint.
  11. Thanks for the info Steve
  12. Can anyone tell me what I should list this lp at, Sweetest Pice Of The Pie by Bobby Thurston, Mainline 12747. Highest price on Popsike is $575, I realise that it has since been reissued on a different label. Any help much appreciated, cheers.
  13. Yuk https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Northern-Soul-60s-Classic-The-Coasters-Crazy-Baby-US-Atco-records-issue-copy-/130638240927?pt=UK_Records&hash=item1e6aa55c9f#ht_500wt_1413
  14. Legal presses from Columbia records (except for Harry Betts and the first Bobby Diamond press)
  15. The rarest of Dave's scans? "Slot Machine" is the rarest reggae 45, but the Majamood record on Wirl is the rarest one pictured, it's a bizarre psychedelic record, no idea who it actually is or why it's on Wirl, think it's a UK group.
  16. I list stuff on here, don't sell it, so sell it off cheap, 6 months later someone's playing it and it's three times what I was selling it for, literally too many examples, just need to look at some of my lists from a few years back. Like I'll have something like Sweet Nothins cry baby cry on a white demo, no interest, 2 weeks later it's on JM auction and goes for 3 figures..
  17. Also Ember specialised in reissuing old material from then current artists, so their releases of james Brown, ray Charles, Roy Orbison etc often didn't have a picture of the actual artist on the cover.
  18. An A to Z is a streetmap guide to a town or city, lists all the roads etc in alphabetical order with a grid reference so you can find them on the map
  19. The picture we're talking about is on the link in post number 1. I mentioned that I thought she was lighter skinned, and then someone started going on about blonde hair.
  20. Topic elsewhere about this, apparently rudest record seller in England
  21. Er..I'll sit on the fence with this one, it could be, but I actually thought she was lighter skinned than that
  22. JJ is a great label but look at the catalogue numbers, PYR and DB, I swear they just used the JJ labels when they ran out of Pyramid and Doctor Bird labels, Israelites and It mek both on Pyramid, People Funny Boy on Doctor Bird. Also things like Rise And Fall are on JJ but with DB number.
  23. Cheers Kev, does anyone remember that amazing footage I put up of her singing Roll With Me Henry at some nightclub in the 50's? Youtube took it down, it might be back up again, I don't know, but I got a letter from her manager asking if I could do Etta a copy of the entire footage, which I duly did, a few weeks later I got a lovely colour 8 x 10 autographed photo of Etta. I still think the autograph was done by the manager to be honest, but it was a nice gesture. This was about 6 or 7 years ago.
  24. Right nobody laugh at this Sacha Distel - Tomorrow Is Another Day - UK HMV original version of Gene Stridel - and it's really good - honestly can't believe how many UK releases I'm still finding out about, thought I knew the lot 20 years ago, I desperately need to loan Roy Gelder's notebooks, then I'd have "the knowledge"
